amazing! the meat flakes in our mouth. always a very long line outside-but worth every minute of waiting! the noodles are hand made and are the best i've tried so far. highly recommend char siu-men (flakyporknoodle soup with extra pork).

not a fan!. definately do not rate hakataya for ramen. its amazing to see how popular this noodle shop is being so sub par to other ramen places. we ordered the spicy ramen and get literally 3 slices ofporkand a little handful of noodle. yes, i understand you can order more noodle free, but that doesnt counteract the overly oily broth and the disappointing combination of flavours. im not going to compare this ramen shop to others in sydney and melbourne, because theyre on a totally different level. but i much prefer ajisen ramen in brisbane cbd over this noodle shop anyday!

is there someone here who doesn't know about hakataya ramen by now? that is, anyone somewhat familiar with the surrounding of brisbane, and possibly the gold coast. this has been well known for such a long time, and gets a high turnover rate which is well deserved. it is basically the perfect place for those on a budget, and a lot of university students are able to attest to it just how convenient and reliable it is. each time it tucks itself into a little hidey-hole, and each of those times they manage success very well. when that happens, expect a lot of students, japanese, and japanese students to be elbow-to-elbow slurping up the noodles.

one day i decided to go out of the house to see a film, one that had been recommended a lot and apparently needed to be seen on the big screen, and after tossing up which cinema to attend - obviously the one in sunnybank at the moment via this review - there was a bit of time beforehand to go and get something to eat. without too much time before the film started from purchasing the ticket, that includes all the pre-show ads (which i got to see in time anyway), it needed to be close and i had a hankering for some ramen anyways - so this was pretty much the perfect selection. for the most part, you can always rely on being able to squeeze into a spot at a ramen place, and they are always quick from ordering to leaving. so, all is good here. you can never go wrong with some ramen.

you want basic? well, that it here with the menu, with the service, and with the whole design of the place. for service, just stand in line on the sidewalk at the cashier then order and pay. it might take a while, since they only have a few guys were having to man the whole place - customers orders, getting the food to them (that part - to get it out of the way - is lightning efficient) and also clearing the table. to be honest, with the ramen bars, this is about the right level of service to get the great feel of the place. after placing the order, you get your table number and either pull on up a stool at the bar (recommended) or go onto the sidewalk at one of the tables. before long, the soup is with you. let's give it a bit of credit the interior, it definitely is cooler and has a fairly relaxing vibe to it. there was some nice music playing in the background, and felt cosy. after placing the order, the condiments and utensils that are needed are right on the bench - the chopsticks, the spoons, and the condiments if they are wanted.

the menu is essentially limited to ramen, and a few extras to have on the side if wanted. for drinks, they are what is offered in the fridge. my choice? well i really like it hot, and am a big fan ofpork- so naturally the extra of some moreporkis requested, and the miso spicy-men is what did it for me. what else is perfect about ordering here is you are able to do is via numbers and it makes it more streamlined. go to one of the outlets enough times, and you will be ordering like that each time.

getting to the actual meal, it was great as per usual. the soup was a mixture of creamy, and spicy with a good coating of chilli oil that made not only its flavour characteristic, but also the texture. it was kind of thick, but the broth was still lithe in the spoon. when you ask for the extra lot of pork, you can bet that they really deliver on having the extra lot of pork. the meat was tender, moreish, and was light in flavour - there was still a bit of fat on it, and enough that it cooked well and could still be eaten. on top of the pork, there was the seaweed which when it got soaked in the broth, really came good, and all the noodles - they were al dente, plentiful and went down a treat.

a bit of something extra on the side i reckon, it adds a bit more and gives more to critique. after have a scan around the menu, the gyozas sounded good but they might have been a bit much; if it were something it needed to be small. well, these sounded perfect - musubi, or otherwise referred to as rice balls. these were cheap and seemed about right. i can tell you this first-hand; these are definitely not jelly doughnuts.

upon ordering the mushubi, the waiter at the cashier called to the back, and i could definitely sense the joy from the cook when he heard his specialty was requested - it is small aspects like that that i remember more than the most professional of service; it actually shows that it has some real character to it. these were freshly made to order, and steaming hot when they came out. there were two of them, and they each came with a sheet of seaweed to wrap in and hold while eating. fresh, pretty simple, and something substantial to fill up just a little bit more.

to an extent, hakayata ramen is like a fast food place. there are a few around town, and there is the general gist - you do know what you are going in for, however the quality is a lot better than the analogy would indicate. it is slightly different with the varieties from outlet to outlet, however you get the general vibe and aesthetic between them all. by what i am saying, it is not what i would call the best ramen in the city, however it has definitely proven reliable over the years, and it has always been consistent so a good, and solid 4.0 is about the right sentiments from me.

i was taken here years ago when this was the only hakataya ramen in existence, before ramen places started popping up everywhere in brisbane, and i immediately fell in love with it. since then i have been to japan twice and tried many different ramen styles and i can say this the product here is highly flavoursome, authentic and is better than some bowls of ramen i had in japan (they were all different of course, and everyone has preferences, but for tonkotsu broth this is really great). the broth is warming and rich while not being too heavy and and the noodles are cooked perfectly, you don't want them over cooked otherwise they go soggy in the broth. the basic ramen, which is my favourite, is quite simple. there is no egg, bamboo or anything special served on top but i enjoy the simplicity of theporkand spring onions. the service here is great and the staff are really nice, and the free noodles are bonus!

been here loads of times, my favourite ramen in brissy. very simple production- broth, noodles, pork. no egg or extra toppings (wish they had them!!). broth is amazing (quite salty),porkis thinly sliced and melt in your mouth, noodles aren't too thick. well priced, simple and tasty. would love to have more toppings like egg, bamboo and seaweed but i still go back cos it's so tasty anyway without them!

great thickporkbroth, but you've gotta loveporkto love it though. very porky stuff. great gelatin for skin. it could be too salty sometimes depending on the time of the day. but once you love it , you'll be addicted to this great authentic japanese stale food.

great japanese noodles. i came across this place in sunny bank and it was definitely a unique japanese soup experience. i was in my cravings for unprocessed noodles with real meat and this soup definitely meets the quality standards. theporkcuts on top of the soup were tender and soft and added a nice texture and flavor to the spicy soup. the soup was good but a little pricey at $12 for a large soup. a few blocks down here is my favorite japanese soup stop mapen.

terrible service. having frequented hakataya ramen over the years, i had an exceedingly disappointing experience today and thought i would share. it was a very hot day, and my elderly mother and i were next in line to be served, as we had waited for a while my mother went to sit down. the waitress then proceeded to tell my mother off for not ordering before sitting down in an extremely irritated tone. as my mother's english wasn't fantastic she apparently didn't move quickly enough for the waitress' liking and when she next sauntered over she raised her voice several notches and fairly shrieked "order first before you sit down. when i later sought to address her manner of speaking to my elderly mother with her, she smirked and complained to the chef in japanese. she did not acknowledge my comments nor did she volunteer any excuse for her behavior. when our food was bought to us i noticed that the chef had given both of us one piece less ofporkthan the standard issue. this is such a trivial event, however the discourteous manner in which we were treated and the subsequent pettiness has left a rather lasting impression on me and going forward i will definitely not be visiting this business.

great texture in these noodles. always busy but i like the standing up kind of eateries like this, it reminds me of travels in asia and makes a good genuine atmosphere. remember to order the extra serve of noodles if you have a bigger appetite. spicy miso is my favorite one. theporkis tender and beautifully fatty. awesome.

there's only 4 noodle dishes in their menu and we all had the 1st dish, nagahama ramen, japaneseporknoodle soup. the soup is boiled withporkbone and simmered for 39 hours. not surprisingly, the stock is very tasty. from reading their facebook page, they use specially selected bones from australian pork. it seems they are also free from chemical seasonings and preservatives.

best ramen in brisbane. have often wandered past and seen the huge lines here and wondered what the fuss was about. got there at 5:30pm and only had to wait awhile for a seat. really tasty broth, my noodles were cooked perfectly and theporkon top was perfect. we shared gyoza as a side and they were great as well. hell of a lot more convenient than taro's too. can't wait to try karaka-men next time. ----> tried the karaka-men, amazing! so freakin tasty. totally addicted.

hakataya ramen are extremely popular noodle houses with two locations in brisbane and one at surfers paradise. the broth is cooked onsite and prepared with freshporkbones and numerous secret ingredients to produce a thick, clear but extremely flavoursome broth. the menu includes the very popular nagahama ramen ($10), featuring their signatureporkbroth and other variations of this base including enn's favourite, the miso spicy-men ($12), a mix of miso, signatureporkbroth and spicy flavouring. the menu also features other add-ons such as gyoza and rice balls. a plus side for customers is the free kaedama, or noodles. basically, if you have broth left over, or just love ramen noodles, you can ask for extra and they will provide you as much noodles as you want for free! personally, ramen is so filling that we can barely finish our first serves but many customers do partake in this offer. hakataya ramen is super delicious, fresh and fast and worth braving the long lines for so we rec
