i’m someone who researches the restaurant and reads every single review before even going there. so i thought 4.6 on zomato, what could possibly go wrong? clearly, i was mistaken. after pressuring my friend to come here instead of our usual hang out spots near church street, it was the biggest letdown. the place was cozy and had good ambience. the service was pretty quick. the prices are high but the quantity was good enough. but here comes the bad part. the food was absolutely disgusting. i ordered the kim bap and some noodles. i struggled to eat three spoons. my friend managed four spoons. it was that bad. there was no taste. the food wasn’t warm. it was bland and soggy. i hate writing bad reviews but this is the first restaurant in bangalore that has disappointed me on so many levels. i still cannot believe i set aside a day just to go here and eat expensive food that tasted worse than dried leaves.

this cosy place is a real gem! i had been meaning to have korean food for ages and finally found a nice place that makes good korean food at a reasonable price... and great sushi as well... such a rare find! the chicken bibimbap and dragon prawn sushi were yummy and the portion size was really good as well. the presentation was also a treat to the eyes :) the service however could be improved but the delicious food makes up for it!

was on a trip to bangalore - decided to come here because of exceptionally high rating of 4.4 but the place did not stack up. service was good - waiters were helpful in selecting dishes. menu was small and not confusing. small servings of kimchi and tofu (particularly) are very good. for the main course, i ordered a noodles dish (seafood originally, but i asked them to make it with only shrimp and chicken), and a crispy salmon roll. unfortunately, both these did not turn out to be what deserves even a 4 rating. noodles were good but chicken pieces/strips in it were hard - probably low quality or reused from the previous day (cannot ascertain but that's how it tasted). sushi roll was alright. one has got to taste sushi in manhattan before one starts raving about this sushi. unfortunately, for me, this sushi got compared to what i had the previous night at itc gardenia's japanese restaurant. sorry did not stack up enough for me. photos attached.

hae kum gang was the first place that i tried sushi in bangalore and after trying the edos and the teppans and the shiros of this city, hkg still remains my favourite. the sushis here are immaculately prepared and plated, the ingredients are always fresh and taste just as they should. i have been to hkg so many times now that i have lost count of the kind of sushis that i have had there, but i have had all the varieties that they offer. the best thing to do is to order the platter, sample all the best kinds and then order an individual plate or two of the kinds that you love the most. they have platters for both non-vegetarian and vegetarian options and each platter consists of 20 pieces- enough to fill up two people because hkg is quite generous with their sushi sizes. apart from the sushis, i have also sampled their seafood sizzler, bibimbap, beef croquettes(sagogi wanja) and a couple of other things. their bibimbap was okay, seafood sizzler was passable and sagogi wanja was just alright. you should really go and order some sushis there if you want to have the best that hkg has to offer. also, since its predominantly a korean place, i would love to see some korean stonegrill style cooking, preferably on my table (because why not !!).

hkg is a lovely place with great service and courteous and extremely soft spoken staff members. also, don't miss out on the condiments that they give out before the food- specially the sesame sauce soaked baby potatoes and the wilted greens(spinach, im guessing).

if you're a newbie when it comes to korean food or if you're a korean-ophile this is the go to place for some amazing korean food. there's a phenomenal spread that includes a meat fest or seafood whichever way you swing. the ambience may be a tad wanting but the food more than makes up for the place. the staff were polite and respectful. the service was quick and the bite plates were interesting. but i can't tell you enough about the grub. every morsel was delicious and although it was just the two of us we managed to wipe off the plates clean. my only grouse was that since it was just the two of us we couldn't order more to taste more. so the lesson here is to go with a larger group so you can taste more of the amazing food. all in all a fantastic smorgasbord. happy eating y'all.

a place you wouldn't really spot unless you came looking for it. i was here with a friend who loves korean cuisine and wanted me to give it a shot. it was quite an experience i must say! we got two dishes from the 'set dish' part of the menu. it comes with side dishes, a bowl of rice and a bowl of soup each (which is a lot). the kimchi was thoroughly enjoyed by the friend. my favourite was the pork belly strips. we ended the meal with some cold ginseng tea.

the staff here are courteous and friendly. helped us out with the dishes (how to eat them, what combinations work etc.)

the ambience is okay, they've got some decent lighting and fairy lights on one wall. the furniture makes the place seem like a little doll house.

parking is available around the street.

so i'm a lover of all things korean. and i'd attribute this to bts. so the moment i enter the restaurant and i could here bst playing i just lost my shit and went crazy.
coming to the food i must mention that the staff took extra care to make the dishes as per our requirements. they made all the spicy dishes non spicy for us and we enjoyed an amazing lunch. the food was so flavourful i could stay there permanently.

went to this place on the basis of the rating. overall ambience ( entrance & interiors) not the very pleasing type of place you would want to visit, but appearance isn’t everything at all times.

staff was courteous and polite.

it’s a very basic place and don’t have too much expectation.

good presentation of food & the portions are big. you can share if you don’t have a big appetite.

the kimchi was not good, something that i would say to avoid.

service is fast but staff needs to be more attentive.

taste wise, the food is good, but i would like to recheck in the hygiene part. i am not doubting anything but from the looks of the overall ambience and what i could see, have some doubts.

this is place is above plan b on castle street.

i would rate this place at 3.5 but unfortunately that rating is not possible so have given it a “3”.

seriously i don't understand what people see in this place. the food is undercooked and the staff is just rude. i ordered kimichi pajeon as i wanted to try a different korean restaurant for a change. they took over 30 mins to serve a uncooked pajeon. no soy sauce came with it also terrible side dishes. ignorant servers and rude cashier. never again. better stick to my regular the himalayan korean restaurant.

i was a new customer for hae kum gang and decided to visit them with a hungering for korean food based on how highly rated they were. i ordered four dishes- the kanpunggi, jeyuk bossam, pork donburi and the chicken hamul jjambong. the kanpunggi and pork donburi were amazing- well-flavoured hearty. the hamul jjambong noodles were a wonderful surprise and i couldn't get enough of them. the portions are also fairly big and impressive. the ambience is really cute, unique and a welcome departure from the usual trend in bengaluru. service is a fair bit slow so be sure to visit only if you have a slow day with time to spend and enjoy the place! on the whole hae kum gang is definitely worth visiting at least once to get your fill on kpop posters and their favorite foods!

i loved the food. i went with my husband, and for 2 people 2 dishes will fill you up completely, so please do not order unless you know you carb eat a lot.
i ordered chicken kimbap , shrimp donuri and chicken chulpan.
me being meat fan i loved the chicken chulpan (must try- have added the image too)
kimbap was very good too. i was too full to eat the shrimps donburi, but that's not much on my favourite lists.
this place is amazing, crowded too (maybe sunday effect).

would recommend them to add some desert items to the menu, that was the only thing missing after a proper tummy filling meal🥰

taste - 4/5
quantity - 5/5
ambience - 2.5/5 (need to revamp)
service - 2/5 (servers need to be more friendly and interactive helping the people to decide the dishes)
