hae kum gang is one of those rare places in the city serving authentic korean cuisine. have been here twice and have had a lovely experience both the times. the place is infact a non vegetarian's paradise with so many varieties to choose from. and to top it all their portions are huuge and each dish comes with hell lotta accompaniments. i actually love each and every item that i've tried :

- kimbap
- dolsot bibimbap
- jeyuk (pork) chulpan
- kimchi seafood california roll
- mandu (momos)

let me tell you that they have the best california rolls in the city. for the ones who havent explored sushis before i suggest start with their california rolls. it'l set your base for the japanese ones. the flavour of the rice is a bit different from the japanese counterpart & even the size is a bit bigger. the kimchi seafood one that we tried were amazzzing. it had the delectable combination of salmon, tuna, squid & crab. would highly recommend this one. chulpans are the korean version of sizzlers and comes with 6-7 condiments.the stir fried pork along with their inhouse kimchi and sweetened baby potatoes is toothsome. their kimchi tastes different from what we get at the chinese restaurants. it might feel a little pungent in the first bite but works eventually. the bibimbaps are the korean version of rice bowl with meat and lotsa veggies. its actually lighter on the tummy. even their momos (mandu) taste heavenly. one thing which i didn't like was the haemul pajeon. it's a seafood pancake which looks like ourgoodold mughlai paratha but tastes slightly different. the overall dish somehow didn't work for me.
they don't have alcohol but a hot cup of flavourful jasmine tea/ginseng tea is a great option for keeping company. overall, their quality of food is unparalleled. would love to try their donburis & ra myen on my next visit.

sevice gets a little slow if it's crowded. price wise it's a great value for money for the portions they offer. a hearty meal for two would come within 1500/-

great job team hae kum gang.

bon appetit 🍽️

it is a nice and cosy place. though it does talk about being an authentic korean restaurant, the interiors are no different than any normal indian restaurant. we ordered kim bap and soondubu. both were prettygoodand the side dishes were great too. but the quantity of the side dishes was far too less, added to that the rice with soondubu was less too. hungry, we ended up ordering the rameyeon and mandu combo. however, the rameyeon tasted like maggie noodles and the mandu was the usual momos we could get at a street vendor. though i liked the place i left a little disappointed.

i’m someone who researches the restaurant and reads every single review before even going there. so i thought 4.6 on zomato, what could possibly go wrong? clearly, i was mistaken. after pressuring my friend to come here instead of our usual hang out spots near church street, it was the biggest letdown. the place was cozy and hadgoodambience. the service was pretty quick. the prices are high but the quantity wasgoodenough. but here comes the bad part. the food was absolutely disgusting. i ordered the kim bap and some noodles. i struggled to eat three spoons. my friend managed four spoons. it was that bad. there was no taste. the food wasn’t warm. it was bland and soggy. i hate writing bad reviews but this is the first restaurant in bangalore that has disappointed me on so many levels. i still cannot believe i set aside a day just to go here and eat expensive food that tasted worse than dried leaves.

this cosy place is a real gem! i had been meaning to have korean food for ages and finally found a nice place that makesgoodkorean food at a reasonable price... and great sushi as well... such a rare find! the chicken bibimbap and dragon prawn sushi were yummy and the portion size was reallygoodas well. the presentation was also a treat to the eyes :) the service however could be improved but the delicious food makes up for it!

was on a trip to bangalore - decided to come here because of exceptionally high rating of 4.4 but the place did not stack up. service wasgood- waiters were helpful in selecting dishes. menu was small and not confusing. small servings of kimchi and tofu (particularly) are very good. for the main course, i ordered a noodles dish (seafood originally, but i asked them to make it with only shrimp and chicken), and a crispy salmon roll. unfortunately, both these did not turn out to be what deserves even a 4 rating. noodles weregoodbut chicken pieces/strips in it were hard - probably low quality or reused from the previous day (cannot ascertain but that's how it tasted). sushi roll was alright. one has got to taste sushi in manhattan before one starts raving about this sushi. unfortunately, for me, this sushi got compared to what i had the previous night at itc gardenia's japanese restaurant. sorry did not stack up enough for me. photos attached.

i loved the food. i went with my husband, and for 2 people 2 dishes will fill you up completely, so please do not order unless you know you carb eat a lot.
i ordered chicken kimbap , shrimp donuri and chicken chulpan.
me being meat fan i loved the chicken chulpan (must try- have added the image too)
kimbap was verygoodtoo. i was too full to eat the shrimps donburi, but that's not much on my favourite lists.
this place is amazing, crowded too (maybe sunday effect).

would recommend them to add some desert items to the menu, that was the only thing missing after a proper tummy filling meal🥰

taste - 4/5
quantity - 5/5
ambience - 2.5/5 (need to revamp)
service - 2/5 (servers need to be more friendly and interactive helping the people to decide the dishes)

waited a long time to go here and i was absolutely delighted with the place. it's a really unique and pleasing ambience withgoodmusic and amazing staff.
the food was delicious and i couldn't have asked for anything more from a restaurant. the food is decently priced. even if you are not familiar with the korean cuisine, i would definitely suggest you give it a try. if you expect it to be really spicy, the food might not be for you. but it's surely worth it.
will surely love to visit again.

we came here looking for an authentic korean food experience, and was really disappointed. we ordered the pork donburi, pork cutlet and the kanpunggi. the donburi wasgoodbut the meat flavor was overpowering the dish. the coating of kanpunggi was quite hard and lacked the spice. the side dishes were stale. and most of the dishes on the menu was unavailable, like the beef options and the pork mandu. overall a bad experience!

however the pork cutlets were good!!

i visited this place recently after 2years, looks like the owner has changed. the food quality and taste has changed. it doesn’t taste authentic anymore. we ordered pork cutlet , shrimp fritters , ramen, beef spicy stew and jeyuk bossam.

the gosari in beef stew was so hard, i wasn’t able to chew. shrimp fritters didn’t tastegoodlike before. only pork cutlet was ok.

i won’t recommend if someone wants to eat authentic or close to authentic korean food/dish.this is my personal opinion based on what i had eaten.

ambiance - the place looks very old and cozy. the last picture sums it all. it was empty when we went there.
their menu gives a feeling of an authentic asian food restaurant and it has photos along with item names. it reminded us of the restaurants when we visited thailand.
🍽
food - we thought of trying multiple things but could only try two items because we were so full by their starters. we ordered hamul pajeon which is a seafood based korean pancake and kanpunggi - sweet n spicy boneless fried chicken. their quantity is amazing as you can see in the pictures. the food felt fresh and had homely taste. we didn't feel like we were eating in a restaurant.
the accompaniments that they gave with food also tastedgoodand we liked the sauces that they had provided.
we haven't tried korean food before so cannot comment on the authenticity of the taste and if it does justice with the korean cuisine. but it tastedgoodand we liked what we ordered there. 😌
🍽
service - their service was okay and the staff was polite. their staff also helped us in deciding the items from their menu.
it costed us around rs 900/- for these two items and with that quantity, we felt that it was value for money for sure.

we couldn't try many items there but our experience wasgoodwith these two items and we would love to go there again someday to try out other dishes too!
