now it’s a duplicate korean restaurant. totally disappointed and disgusted with the food. visited this place after years, food was horrible. polite service but very delayed. after waiting for a long time they served us food that was below standard. first taste ofkimchihad me questioning this place. should have cancelled rest of my orders right away. and whole dining experience spoilt with spoilt stale food. earlier it was an authentic korean restaurant almost fine dining but now after tasting food here i feel instant noodles tastes better than what was served here, that too served in plastic bowls and plates now. even after informing them the food was not good, they were least concerned and didn’t even acknowledge instead just made sure the bill was paid. they didn’t even give a glass of water. not worth any stars zero!!

hae kum gang is one of those rare places in the city serving authentic korean cuisine. have been here twice and have had a lovely experience both the times. the place is infact a non vegetarian's paradise with so many varieties to choose from. and to top it all their portions are huuge and each dish comes with hell lotta accompaniments. i actually love each and every item that i've tried :

- kimbap
- dolsot bibimbap
- jeyuk (pork) chulpan
-kimchiseafood california roll
- mandu (momos)

let me tell you that they have the best california rolls in the city. for the ones who havent explored sushis before i suggest start with their california rolls. it'l set your base for the japanese ones. the flavour of the rice is a bit different from the japanese counterpart & even the size is a bit bigger. thekimchiseafood one that we tried were amazzzing. it had the delectable combination of salmon, tuna, squid & crab. would highly recommend this one. chulpans are the korean version of sizzlers and comes with 6-7 condiments.the stir fried pork along with their inhousekimchiand sweetened baby potatoes is toothsome. theirkimchitastes different from what we get at the chinese restaurants. it might feel a little pungent in the first bite but works eventually. the bibimbaps are the korean version of rice bowl with meat and lotsa veggies. its actually lighter on the tummy. even their momos (mandu) taste heavenly. one thing which i didn't like was the haemul pajeon. it's a seafood pancake which looks like our good old mughlai paratha but tastes slightly different. the overall dish somehow didn't work for me.
they don't have alcohol but a hot cup of flavourful jasmine tea/ginseng tea is a great option for keeping company. overall, their quality of food is unparalleled. would love to try their donburis & ra myen on my next visit.

sevice gets a little slow if it's crowded. price wise it's a great value for money for the portions they offer. a hearty meal for two would come within 1500/-

great job team hae kum gang.

bon appetit 🍽️

was on a trip to bangalore - decided to come here because of exceptionally high rating of 4.4 but the place did not stack up. service was good - waiters were helpful in selecting dishes. menu was small and not confusing. small servings ofkimchiand tofu (particularly) are very good. for the main course, i ordered a noodles dish (seafood originally, but i asked them to make it with only shrimp and chicken), and a crispy salmon roll. unfortunately, both these did not turn out to be what deserves even a 4 rating. noodles were good but chicken pieces/strips in it were hard - probably low quality or reused from the previous day (cannot ascertain but that's how it tasted). sushi roll was alright. one has got to taste sushi in manhattan before one starts raving about this sushi. unfortunately, for me, this sushi got compared to what i had the previous night at itc gardenia's japanese restaurant. sorry did not stack up enough for me. photos attached.

a place you wouldn't really spot unless you came looking for it. i was here with a friend who loves korean cuisine and wanted me to give it a shot. it was quite an experience i must say! we got two dishes from the 'set dish' part of the menu. it comes with side dishes, a bowl of rice and a bowl of soup each (which is a lot). thekimchiwas thoroughly enjoyed by the friend. my favourite was the pork belly strips. we ended the meal with some cold ginseng tea.

the staff here are courteous and friendly. helped us out with the dishes (how to eat them, what combinations work etc.)

the ambience is okay, they've got some decent lighting and fairy lights on one wall. the furniture makes the place seem like a little doll house.

parking is available around the street.

went to this place on the basis of the rating. overall ambience ( entrance & interiors) not the very pleasing type of place you would want to visit, but appearance isn’t everything at all times.

staff was courteous and polite.

it’s a very basic place and don’t have too much expectation.

good presentation of food & the portions are big. you can share if you don’t have a big appetite.

thekimchiwas not good, something that i would say to avoid.

service is fast but staff needs to be more attentive.

taste wise, the food is good, but i would like to recheck in the hygiene part. i am not doubting anything but from the looks of the overall ambience and what i could see, have some doubts.

this is place is above plan b on castle street.

i would rate this place at 3.5 but unfortunately that rating is not possible so have given it a “3”.

well maintained staff nd a hygienic place.good ambience and services.

i have been interested to try the korean cuisine here. unfortunately the friend with whom i visited the place was wary of korean food and wanted to try the california roll variations.

by way of decor, the focus was not on it, it is pretty plain and simplistic. though the chairs looked a little ostentatious.

the korean music in the background was unobtrusive. the waiters kept disappearing for some reason. barely three tables including ours was occupied since it was a weekday night.

the items which were brought in  as accompaniments were very interesting -  thekimchiwas particularly good, so was the sprouts.

the california roll variations of cheesy salmon roll and the bulgogi roll were awesome. the portion size is one of the best i have seen in bangalore.

this place is definitely on my list to visit again to have the korean dishes.

don’t. trust me, please don’t.
if you have high regards and love towards korean cuisine, this is possibly the worst place you can go to.
absolutely no words to describe the nonexistent “service”. one person who said “hi” when i first entered was the only greeting i was ever faced with. the other person who gave us menus and put plates on the table, was the person you will 200% hate and want to get out as soon as possible. didn’t look at us, didn’t ask us if we needed something, didn’t respond to any questions or concerns, asked for forks and felt like we asked some ancient item from his personal belongings.
long story short, we were ignored. i’ve never been ignored and ghosted to this extent in my whole life.
and that person who who i got bad vibes from, is also the person at the payment counter. i had to leave the table and go up to him and tell him i need to pay multiple times for him to understand. throughout the whole time, he had a grumpy and evil face. judging from the other reviews i feel he’s like this 24/7, people like him shouldn’t work in a restaurant serving others.
had to switch on the fan by myself because no one came up to us to even take our order, we had to go to where they are and call them.
nobody even bats an eye at you.
there were barely two staff working.
the sushis were cold, like fridge cold, and the rice was weird.
the kimchis not authentic. if you’ve never eaten authentickimchiplease don’t eat this and think it’s supposed to taste like that.
side dishes included, small potatoes in a sauce, kimchi, spring beans salad (stale and almost rotten),kimchideon 4 pieces (no salt no taste like cardboard).
there were houseflies and fruit flies, they sat on the food all the time it was disgusting.
the total cost came to ₹1617 for 1kimchideon, 1 chic kim bap, 1 (avocado) cali roll, 1 cutlet (pork)

was this fruit salad? vegetable salad? who tf knows. no clue why the sauce was a deep yellow. supposed to be a fried dish but don't expect any crispiness.

chicken chulpan
overcooked chicken in a gochujang sauce that even a toddler can make better. it's flavour profile was limited to being salty.

kimbap
one of the best inventions from korea that is impossible to ruin but leave it to hae kum kang to do the impossible. it tasted like nothing, blander than plain white rice.

kimchi
this is only a side dish but the most critical element of a korean meal so had to comment on this. thekimchiwasn't even fermented, that's the bare minimum akimchiis supposed to have.

horrible and pricey for no reason. thank god for coca cola and pepsi for saving the meal. won't be going there again even if a hurricane destroyed all other korean restaurants in bangalore. for a better experience, both arirang and hi seoul are better.

thekimchiseafood platter is a bomb. the quantity they serve is immense so you better go with a group of friends. the dishes looked exactly the way they are presented in the menu. i love this place and can't wait to go again and eat by myself. this place is so cosy and homely. i literally missed home. the efforts are spot-on. they have surely made two loyal customers.
