headed down to one of my favourite day trip getaway spots – red hill for some r&r on the weekend with kw and j. foxey’s hangout has become a favourite winery lunch place for its beautiful deck, homely atmosphere and stunning views of the vines and hills (not to mention some lovely pinot).  we nabbed one of the few tables outside and got ready for a long afternoon of great company and food. quick note on the perfectly timed dishes that were consistently coming out of the kitchen and friendly service we enjoy each time! foxey’s offers a long list of tasting plates written up on the chalk board inside. some constant dishes include the bbq quail and spicy meatballs, but there is a varying range each time we visit. we started off with some warm and chewy ciabatta bread, accompanied by a crunchy pistachio dukkah and olive oil. the nuttiness of the olive oil complemented the spices and black sesame in the dukkah perfectly. also ideal for mopping up the sauce and juice on some of our dishes la

went here as a couple on a sunny day and absolutely loved it. sat on the deck in the shade (remember to bring a jumper) and chose the "we'll choose for you" tapas option with 8 serves each. we were not disappointed and savoured every morsel with exquisite olive oil and house made dukkah to dip our fresh bread in. you can pop in for cheese and wine or order tapas. they have little table like boxes on the steps to sit at if you cannot secure a table. overlooking a vineyard and the staff were fabulous. can't wait to get back here!

food was amazing, topped only by the view and the hospitality. whilst it was busy, all the staff had time to say hi, smile and made the afternoon enjoyable. the food was fabulous and the wine was great too. can't wait to come back and enjoy another afternoon on the deck.

4.5 sensational food and experience
it was a perfect weathered day and whilst waiting for a table we did the wine tastings. when seated at our perfect view we ordered a bottle of white, chose the chef selection which everything we put in our mouths was moorish, especially the anchovies and for a bunch of people that generally aren't big on seafood (unlike myself) they loved it, the bread had that delicious traditional home-baked flavour. it's expensive but an experience to experience

what a pleasant surprise! i was not expecting much from a $38 tasting menu, but every dish was fantastic and without fault. the only exception was the meatballs which were slightly dry and lacked spice. in terms of appetite, i was quite satisfied despite the portions looking small! i was very happy in the variety of dishes offered, the service was fantastic and friendly and food came at a quick pace. beautiful seating outside which i wish we could have used in better weather. would highly recommend.

lovely experience! the food was divine, really enjoyed the feed me experience and all our waiters were sup friendly. the winery itself is gorgeous and intimate, and we enjoyed our spot out in the sunshine

will come back for:
+ salmon with miso mayo
+ mushroom sausage rolls

friendly staff, great views of the surrounds, and great morsels of food gives me a great reason to be back! sitting on the deck, it would have been perfect if the weather was not as cold (perhaps a heater or two might do the trick?) but luckily the friendly staff had a whole bunch of throws to keep us warm. food was delicious and great to match with their local drop. what an easy way to spend the afternoon. will definitely bring friends back to this magical little spot.

loved foxeys so much that i went twice in one week! they have a great range of white, red & sparkling wines that you can taste. it’s free to taste 3 wines & $10 to try the whole lot! i bought a few bottles to take home!

on both occasions i opted for the chefs menu for lunch & was able to try a bit of everything. the staff were very accomodating & made moderations to the menu for vegetarians and for those requiring gluten free.

delicious, consistent & non pretentious food for a very reasonable price. great casual dining on the mornington peninsula!

fantastic staff, they were really friendly and helpful with helping us move from outdoors to indoors due to bad weather. loved the outdoor sitting, they provided blankets which made it comfy. great tasting menu - $35/pax for 9 courses (probably around one bite size per each course but it fills you up)

they have complementary wine tasting of up to 3 wines but if you want to try more, you can pay $10/pax to taste the full list.

note: would suit people who eat everything, probably not a great option for fussy eaters. - unless you are going with non fussy eaters :)

a great small winery that focuses on warm and friendly service. it has lots of smaller things on the the menu if you don't want a full lunch.

a nice, small winery that’s good for a glass of wine on the deck. food wise however we thought it was hit and miss. the tomato, feta and mint dish was a nice refreshing start. the bread with pistachio nuts and oil was also good. the mushroom sausage rolls were nice but needed more seasoning, a touch too plain. the meatballs was nice and juicy. the tuna and radicchio dish was a big let down, there was barely any tuna in the dish. don’t think we will rush back.

a lovely stop in red hill. we started our day of winery hopping at foxeys and we couldn't be more delighted. we did a tasting at the back of the restaurant next to where they start the wine making process. you can see them loading the grapes into the machines and it makes you appreciate the wine you're about to taste a little bit more. the staff was lovely giving us a run down of all the different wines we were tasting and even giving us some of the grapes to taste as well. a lovely and unique experience. after that, we sat by the steps outside to try some of the dishes. they are very well priced at $12 for a full serve and $6 for a half serve. we tried the miso salmon which was light and tasty, the meatballs paired with a yoghurt dip and the half serve of the bread which was still warm and fluffy from the oven. a lovely little winery overlooking red hill.
