visited foxeys in mid april and really enjoyed this charming little winery. fantastic tasting and really helpful staff who couldn't do enough to help one of our guests with some very specific dietary needs. the good was amazing; i highly recommend the tasting menue style lunch and atlantic salmon!

if you’re planning an impromptu trip to the mornington peninsula then don’t worry, you’re not going to be left wanting for good food....if you’re after a view of the vines whilst you dine, then look to foxeys hangout in red hill. foxeys hangout is a light filled, modern, bustling space. tastings are carried out alongside the open kitchen where simple tapas style plates are prepared. diners can sit inside and be a part of the hustle of the kitchen or venture out onto the deck where you can eat sitting on the steps with a spectacular view of the lush vines before you. we choose the steps over a table- it’s more in keeping with the space and order a bottle of chardonnay. wine can be enjoyed by the glass or the bottle for an affordable price with a sparkling red, white, rose, pinot gris (sold out on our visit), chardonnay pinot noir and shiraz all under the vineyards own label. the style of eating is informal, produce driven and complements the wine first and foremost. we decide the best way to enjoy our time at foxeys hangout is to trust the chef and for around $33 per head- it’s great value. we start with two pieces of salmon that have been seared for but a second, which we swipe through some miso mayo. next, lazy tendrils of roasted capsicum, tangy fillets of white anchovies, capers and fresh parsley. a pool of earthy almost bitter olive oil arrives and we dip warm, crusty bread into it and then encrust it with pistachio spice...

wonderful relaxing experience!. from the moment you arrive at foxeys hangout you feel welcomed into a beautiful view of the vines. we have viewed the vines in hot, cold and perfect weather and it always has a different beauty to it.

highly recommend the tasting platter which is a series of delectable food courses (tapas style) size served according to the amount of people. we like foxeys sparkling white as it is a cross between the french champagne and australian sparkling so it has the best of both worlds.

if you are down on the peninsula drop in- you will not be disappointed.

a lovely lunch. i arranged lunch for a small group to celebrate my wife's birthday at foxeys. we arrived early to ensure a table and for around $40 per head for food we proceeded to indulge ourselves in a wide range of high quality tapas sized dishes which left us quite full and very impressed! matched with lovely wines, attentive service and glorious views down the valley i earned some serious brownie points!

he best and most unique thing about this place is how laid back they are about everything. plus, the view is impeccable. not to mention how good the flavour combinations are in the food and also their house wine. finally, the price!

hungry. there is small portions and there is scummy portions and then there is foxey's. the wine was good but some food to go with it would have been nice given that we spent $200. some one should park a food van near the entrance, they'll make a killing

so glad we took up the "tip off" from a local. heard about this place from a rye local resident and was keen to visit after listening to stories of the great wine, great food and great atmosphere. and yes, had read the reviews of the somewhat "pushy" and "abrupt" owner....i now felt even more intrigued and had to visit so last weekend the girly brat pack headed up to foxey's ! not only were we welcomed as soon as we flung open the doors, but this service continued thru out a whole experience ...staff were so attentive from the tasting to seating us for lunch ...we thought the wine was great until we got to the food and the three us were fighting for the last morsels ! now about the grumpy old man, well he was nowhere to been seen and as for "pushy" well consider this? the place is amazing and by 12:00 was bursting at the seams with visitors so as an owner you do have to try and move people on, it's understandable - think about your fellow diners ....oh and for goodness sake remember foxey's is a winery - go there to sample their wines and then be tempted to have a glass with a fine selection of tapas and after you are full up to pussy's bow and ready for a nap, then order a coffee ....you dont do foxey's if you are up for a afternoon latte....travel further down and hit up one of the many cafés in red hill who are just that "cafés"... thank you foxey's and your staff for an amazing day,

great lunchtime experience. had lunch here today with friends... food was delicious (we had the shared platters) and service was quick, friendly and efficient.

my only recommendation would be to arrive early for lunch as tables book up quickly and they don't take bookings! would definitely recommend to other though for great food, wine, service and of course the scenery.

rushed out. location and food was lovely, very busy place and nice ambiance however before we could swallow the last bite of our food, the dish was taken and we were asked if we were going to eat any more or leave, despite the fact we still had half a bottle of wine left. having driven over a hour to redhill for the visit and spending close to $100 you would think you are allowed to finish your wine and sit at a table for atleast a hour.

absolutely amazing! food was to die for..and so cheap for what you get! mouth watering.. we did the tasting menu..staff were so friendly even though they were incredibly busy..and food came out very quickly! a little bit loud inside because the sound bounces off the wooden floorboards and glass window but would absolutely go back!
