a nice, smallwinery that’s good for a glass of wine on the deck. food wise however we thought it was hit and miss. the tomato, feta and mint dish was a nice refreshing start. the bread with pistachio nuts and oil was also good. the mushroom sausage rolls were nice but needed more seasoning, a touch too plain. the meatballs was nice and juicy. the tuna and radicchio dish was a big let down, there was barely any tuna in the dish. don’t think we will rush back.

really needs to be a 3.5 but i don’t think i would come back for lunch. verysmallmenu with only about 7 items to choose from, i get that they have asmallkitchen but i don’t understand why everyone raves about it. $12 for bread and oil is pushing it even if it’s unnecessarily generous portion. mushroom sausages... please. quail was literally 15 grams of meat i reckon. meatballs ok but i would suggest coming back just for a glass of wine and cheese sitting outside overlooking the vineyard. sparkling shiraz and the late harvest desert wine are great as was the triple cream brie.

i've been to foxeys twice and it has a really nice environment. it's not big at all but everyone is friendly and it's relaxing sitting on the deck. it is busy though and there is asmallmenu but the food is nice. it's not super fancy but a perfect place if you're stopping somewhere for asmallbite.

well finally i got to visit this place and well worth the visit for the food but in saying that quite expensive per serve ($12) per tapas plate. one quail was $12 and there was 4 of us. a loaf of bread and oil and pistachio nuts also the same. continuing - 4smalltomatoes and mint with a tiny bit of mint - yep $12, same for 1/2 an avocado and 3 burnt (read caramelised walnuts) with prosciutto.

look, the menu is good but $12 for one inch mushroom ‘sausage’ rolls times 4?with a spicy tomato sauce was not worth the money a bit like the bread. the experience was good and the place is always packed when opened but i really question the price per dish.

they say they cater to vegetarians, etc etc but didn’t have soy milk!

would i go again - sadly no. there is so many more options on the peninsula maybe the cost is to cover the plentitude if staff.

always a good time coming down and spending time at the wineries in red hill. i've been to foxey's 3 times now and have always enjoyed it. despite being on the smaller side (space-wise) then other locations in the area, i love the cozy space and deck that overlooks the adjacent vineyard. great during summer but a little nippy in winter (needs heaters outside i think - asap!). i also love the tasting section - lined with wine barrels, the space is beautiful but the incredibly knowledgable bloke who runs them really makes any visit to foxey's a memorable one.

on my most recent visit our group of 5 were disgruntled at being seated outside as it was very cold and the blankets provided weren't enough to take the chill off! as a table inside would be about 20 minutes, we went to have a tasting. again, the bloke who ran it was fantastic (with generous pours!) but really told the story of each drop well. we then got seated and ended up doing the 'feed me' option which is $35 a head and you get all theirsmallplates (apart from dessert) catered to the party size so that no one misses out. it was great value and very delicious. my favourite dish was the sourdough with olive oil and sukkah. so simple but the quality of the olive oil just took it to another level. we were all very happy with the dishes and washed it all down with a bottle of pinot (which we had sampled during our tasting). fantastic place - very relaxed and great to just sit back and spend a few hours.

foxey's hangout in red hill is more of a low key place to drop by on your way through red hill. they have asmalllittle restaurant that sits high with a beautiful outlook over their winery. you can sit out on their deck and ordersmallplates to share. the tomato salad and mushroom sausage rolls are definitely worth testing out!

cute little winery and kitchen in red hill. food was simple but wonderfully presented. there was a "feed me" option for $36 per person, but we chose to go for a la carte dishes... trying the atlantic salmon with miso mayo dressing, pork and veal meatballs with yoghurt sauce, and the bbq quail.
atlantic salmon was delicious althoughsmallin portion size. the miso dressing paired perfectly with the fish.
meatballs were heavy in coriander which was not to my taste. the yoghurt sauce was quite plain and could have use some herbs in it- maybe dill or chives?
quail was dainty and well cooked and charred.
at $12 per plate ofsmallsharing dishes, we left still feeling like we had a few snacks rather than lunch.
the sparkling shiraz was divine, and we promptly bought a couple of bottles to take home.
service was attentive and polite; and the view and seating arrangements (outdoors on steps with stool-style tables) was unique and fun yet classy.
overall a nice and refined place to bring friends and visitors for special occasions or if you're feeling a bit fancy.

great place for a relaxing lunch. can be uncomfortable in winter outside whilst waiting for a table. maybe outside heating needs to be investigated?
view and setting is fantastic. service was warm, attentive and very welcoming.
food portions are way toosmalland by the time you satisfy your hunger the bill ends up very steep due to constant reordering.

a lovely lunch. i arranged lunch for asmallgroup to celebrate my wife's birthday at foxeys. we arrived early to ensure a table and for around $40 per head for food we proceeded to indulge ourselves in a wide range of high quality tapas sized dishes which left us quite full and very impressed! matched with lovely wines, attentive service and glorious views down the valley i earned some serious brownie points!

hungry. there issmallportions and there is scummy portions and then there is foxey's. the wine was good but some food to go with it would have been nice given that we spent $200. some one should park a food van near the entrance, they'll make a killing

love this place! it's onlysmallso it can get very crowded but the deck and view are fantastic. the tapas style food is amazing. nothing but water unfortunately though for non-wine drinkers. a must on a visit to the mornington peninsula.

never returning. won't be returning. incredibly rude staff, too noisy, very overpriced, smallportions.

at first i thought i thought it was a nice venue. polished wood and steel interior reminded me of what an apple store might look like with restaurant and a view. however it's open floor plan with the kitchen, wine tasting and restaurant all in asmallroom no bigger than a double garage meant smoke from the kitchen filled the room and the hard furnishings reverberated sound making conversation near impossible. and this was before we even met anyone.

then we encountered the staff and service. when we arrived for lunch at 12.30pm the place was filled with people and food, but not patrons and those enjoying lunch. no, we were told we were too early for lunch and could not have a table because the staff were still prepping all the food for the afternoons service. unorthodox considering the time. instead we were ushered into a corner where a man clumsily poured us a few wines for tasting and pushed a bill for the samples in front of us to take to our now ready table.

a casual waiter then sauntered over (who we later discovered to be the one of the brothers who runs the business) showing very little interest in our group briefly mentioned that "plates aresmallshare plates and cost $11 each or the whole menu on the board (12 items listed ) for roughly $32 give or take a few dollars". this should have been my first inkling that something was amiss - how do you not know how much your own 'degustation' costs?!? one of the members of our group noticed the first item on the list to be bread with olive oil and dukka for $11 - bit steep but the waiter assured "its a whole loaf of bread". another was quite keen on the last item, the blue cheese with maple figs so quickly checked that was included and this waiter rolled his eyes and nodded. rude. naturally we went for the degustation. in fairness thesmallplates of food were well presented and delicious but lets be straight, they are extremely small. another note was that they brought out dish after dish with little or no time to finish the one before resulting in too many plates for thesmalltable we were seated at and the waiter began taking away plates that were not finished. as the ninth dish came out a female waiter explained that this was the last dish. when we politely questioned about the remaining 3 dishes (including the blue cheese) she politely said she would check. the next moment the owner presented and rudely said "whats the problem here?". as members of the group all politely explained the situation he responded with an emphatic "rubbish" and proceeded to say "its a shame when customers try and squeeze every dollar out of a restaurant, which obviously you do, instead of just enjoying the meal". never in my life have i been spoken to so rudely. at that point we got up, paid and walked out disgusted! and i can guarantee you this, none of the members of our party will return and it left a bitter taste in our mouth (mind the pun) for what should have been a pleasant lunch.

a final point, not only is it natural at a venue where meals are extremely overpriced to work out the most cost effective way to enjoy a lunch but who writes a menu where it is cheaper to buy every item individually then the whole menu. may be a good wine maker and an ok chef but obviously has no idea about business.
