loved foxeys so much that i went twice in one week! they have a great range of white, red & sparkling wines that you can taste. it’s free to taste 3 wines & $10 to try the whole lot! i bought a few bottles to take home!

on both occasions i opted for the chefsmenufor lunch & was able to try a bit of everything. the staff were very accomodating & made moderations to themenufor vegetarians and for those requiring gluten free.

delicious, consistent & non pretentious food for a very reasonable price. great casual dining on the mornington peninsula!

fantastic staff, they were really friendly and helpful with helping us move from outdoors to indoors due to bad weather. loved the outdoor sitting, they provided blankets which made it comfy. great tastingmenu- $35/pax for 9 courses (probably around one bite size per each course but it fills you up)

they have complementary wine tasting of up to 3 wines but if you want to try more, you can pay $10/pax to taste the full list.

note: would suit people who eat everything, probably not a great option for fussy eaters. - unless you are going with non fussy eaters :)

really needs to be a 3.5 but i don’t think i would come back for lunch. very smallmenuwith only about 7 items to choose from, i get that they have a small kitchen but i don’t understand why everyone raves about it. $12 for bread and oil is pushing it even if it’s unnecessarily generous portion. mushroom sausages... please. quail was literally 15 grams of meat i reckon. meatballs ok but i would suggest coming back just for a glass of wine and cheese sitting outside overlooking the vineyard. sparkling shiraz and the late harvest desert wine are great as was the triple cream brie.

i've been to foxeys twice and it has a really nice environment. it's not big at all but everyone is friendly and it's relaxing sitting on the deck. it is busy though and there is a smallmenubut the food is nice. it's not super fancy but a perfect place if you're stopping somewhere for a small bite.

well finally i got to visit this place and well worth the visit for the food but in saying that quite expensive per serve ($12) per tapas plate. one quail was $12 and there was 4 of us. a loaf of bread and oil and pistachio nuts also the same. continuing - 4 small tomatoes and mint with a tiny bit of mint - yep $12, same for 1/2 an avocado and 3 burnt (read caramelised walnuts) with prosciutto.

look, themenuis good but $12 for one inch mushroom ‘sausage’ rolls times 4?with a spicy tomato sauce was not worth the money a bit like the bread. the experience was good and the place is always packed when opened but i really question the price per dish.

they say they cater to vegetarians, etc etc but didn’t have soy milk!

would i go again - sadly no. there is so many more options on the peninsula maybe the cost is to cover the plentitude if staff.

after a trip to the strawberry farm, we came here for lunch. we were directed where to park upon arrival. the restaurant only take walk-ins and no reservations so we arrived expecting to wait a little at lunch time (1pm); being a group of five and a weekend.

we were directed to the wine cellar for some wine tasting while we waited. looking at the wine tasting menu, this is usually $8 per person with 10 wines ranging from sparkling to whites to rose to the different red wine varieties and a sweet wine at the end. two of us tasted 4 wines which ended up being complimentary while we were waiting for a table. surprisingly, the wait was short (we got through 4 and our table was ready).

the restaurant itself is not large with indoor and outdoor seating area overlooking the beautifully grown vineyards and green hills. the tables were more like coffee tables which gave a sense of lounging at home in front of a fire place and just catching up with friends and family.

themenuis simple and is made for sharing with each plate being $12. noting that some plates had bigger servings than others and may be considered more value for money for some (tip: take a look at photos to get a better idea however staff there will be able to advise as well). themenualso offers a 'leave it to us' for $35 per person where you'll get a tasting of everything on themenuwhich the staff advised will be a light lunch. between the five of us we spent a little over $100 (roughly $20-30 per person) on a light lunch (no desserts) and 3 beverages (2 coffees and 1 wine); so we were a little better off doing a la carte considering we had two smaller appetites at the table. the food itself was presented very simply on a white plate where the focus was not on the presentation but rather simple homemade food that can be had with wine, good views and great company. (tip: order the bread to fill you up a little)

overall a very comfortable space to just chill and enjoy all that is on offer at a winery and although nothing was amazing about the food, it was comfort food (bit like snack/finger food) that you could easily have with friends/family while catching up.

dishes that make up this review:

bread, olive oil and pistachio spice (you can also have half loaf if you prefer)
atlantic salmon with miso mayo
mushroom sausage rolls x2
roast capsicum, anchovies, capers
bbq quail
spiced meatballs, yoghurt dip
avocado, walnuts and pancetta

we were seated at an inappropriately low coffee table. the place felt chaotic. we requested to be put on a more appropriate table. we ordered the tastingmenueach and although the food was good there was a terrible attitude about the place, an arrogance and i can't say i'll be back and i definitely wouldn't recommend to a friend. perhaps be more friendly and approachable. you are, after all, in the hospitality industry and people don't stumble across your location they travel purposefully to visit you.

really lovely setting , service and food. felt very unpretentious, but with well presented food and flavors. we had the tastingmenuwhich was a great way to do it. it was very reasonable at $36 a head. wines were a perfect compliment.

100% for both the food and the wines we had (sparkling brut, pinot noir, sparkling rosé). as a retired chef and oenologist, i could definitely feel the hand of a master of the kitchen in the food, its preparation and presentation. my compliments to the wine makers as well. after the comprehensive tastingmenu(very generous and well priced at $36 p.p.) my wife and i indulged in an excellent cheese platter. the impeccable service and the captivating views of the vineyards created a perfect frame. i can highly recommend this place. we will certainly be back more than once.

this winery gets 10/10 for the food and the view, however, the wine is a little disappointing. the tastingmenu($35.00 pp) is recommended and we had this with a bottle of the sparkling rose ($35.00).

definitely my favourite lunch option in red hill. make sure you get there early as by 12pm the place is jam packed! the service is incredibly friendly and the tapas stylemenuis delicious. the chef selection lunch option for $35 is great value and makes for a very relaxing afternoon! love this place!

this place is in s beautiful setting with some great views. as a dining experience it's not a foodie's place. themenuis really limited and the portions are small. it's ok if you are looking for some nibblies and wine but not as a meal. vegetarian options are quite poor.

foxey's is a red hill gem. gets busy so get in early for lunch on the weekend or settle in with a tasting to choose your lunchtime drop whilst you wait. themenuchanges daily depending on the fresh produce available...i suggest just asking the extremely friendly and helpful staff to bring you a selection of everything. at approx $30 per head...pretty good value and you won't leave hungry. mushroom sausage rolls a regular...delicious. combine this with a variety of other modern tapas style dishes and bottle of shiraz and you have a great way to spend a weekend afternoon...view pretty good too :)

foxeys hangout in red hill unashamedly serves simple dishes designed to pair with wines. and this makes sense when you realise the chef is also a qualified winemaker. the chefsmenugives you a wide range of dishes to taste for a reasonable $35 per person and this is the option we would recommend.
