presumptuous and dollar squeezing. i visited foxey's the weekend just passed with my boyfriend and another couple, initially theservicewas good however after the group did a wine tasting of the offerings we sat down to lunch, the owner gave us a quick run down of the menu and advised we have everything on the menu ($11 per plate) which makes up a good lunch and works out approx. $30 a head, we said thank you we will think about it (having a big day of eating planned, decided to discuss our options while sitting down). a waiter then came out side and said "i believe your lunch order already in, what can i get everyone to drink" - this we found presumptuous as we had merely thanked the owner and said we will think about it.
we then ordered a few plates to share and a glass of wine each. the food was good but nothing amazing. when we went to pay my partner and i bought a bottle of wine we liked from the tasting, the owner then proceeded to tally up our bill and charge everyone an $8 tasting fee on top of the lunch we ordered, the wine we bought by the glass and the bottle of wine we bought. this left a very bad taste in our mouths as we left, it is understandable for people who simply come in and drink the tasting wine and leave, however we had spent close to $100 already and felt the $8pp tasting fee should have been waived.
needless to say we will not be returning and would recommend others not go as well, staff were rude, owner was presumptuous and squeezing unnecessary money out of patrons,. there are plenty of other better wineries to visit in the region and would highly recommend giving this one a miss.
