...for a good time, not a long time!!. not sure how this place got **** rating?!

i'm sure management feel that they would have a great business if it wasn't for the customers. short, rude & pricey. should be renamed to something with my title line in it, as we were told this a number of times during our hour long stay.

note to management - we're in victoria; great bush & seaside locations/vistas, eateries, cafés & wineries. your views are not enough!

travel extensively & have had the pleasure of finding some real gems. this is not one of them...at this time the most disappointing place i've been to for as long as i can remember :-(

just arrived at at 3:30pm with my wife and newborn. thought it would be a nice place to try, have coffee perhaps some cheese and dessert. looks great inside, but we couldn't see a coffee machine and asked if they serve coffee, the response from the gentleman that had the appearance of a proprietor was "yes we do, but i hope you're having wine as well because we're not a coffee shop". well that did it for me, even though i fancied a pinot as well, but this type of arrogance and demand to consume alcohol was just beyond acceptable interaction with a client in a hospitality business. to the proprietor, aside from responsible service of alcoholic beverages to a breast feeding mum and a proud dad that's in charge of a car, think again about how you speak to people, as they will fill your pockets with their money if you just treat them respectfully.

....as the others say, rude indeed. what a rude man !!! who is this waiter/manager? took a drive down to foxey's hangout on the weekend. was that "hangout" ? quite an absurb title as there is no such thing as to hang out here. very rude man made sure work of that as he had no qualms about letting us know on more than one occasion that our visit was to be short. in fact very blunt to the point!
beware, he will not make you welcome and you will be back out into the carpark before foxey has a change to sniff you out ! the other staff were very pleasant and attentive. pity mr, fox was not from their den.....

lovely food and atmosphere.. i love foxey's! a lot of reviews complain about the prices, but i find food usually works out to about $25-30 per head and i never leave hungry. the portions are reasonably sized, but they are portions. if you want a huge plate of food foxey's isn't for you. i like the staff there and disagree with a lot of the comments that they're rude. they do get flustered when they are busy though, which is always!

the foxey's wine is lovely too, and the restaurant itself is beautiful. only negative is sometimes when the restaurant is too busy they seat people in the shed. which really is just an old shed, and not particularly pleasant.

fabulous. great seasonal and local food, very simply but beautifully prepared. sizes are perfect for 3 people to just about try one of everything on the menu. absolutely spot-on.

presumptuous and dollar squeezing. i visited foxey's the weekend just passed with my boyfriend and another couple, initially the service was good however after the group did a wine tasting of the offerings we sat down to lunch, the owner gave us a quick run down of the menu and advised we have everything on the menu ($11 per plate) which makes up a good lunch and works out approx. $30 a head, we said thank you we will think about it (having a big day of eating planned, decided to discuss our options while sitting down). a waiter then came out side and said "i believe your lunch order already in, what can i get everyone to drink" - this we found presumptuous as we had merely thanked the owner and said we will think about it.

we then ordered a few plates to share and a glass of wine each. the food was good but nothing amazing. when we went to pay my partner and i bought a bottle of wine we liked from the tasting, the owner then proceeded to tally up our bill and charge everyone an $8 tasting fee on top of the lunch we ordered, the wine we bought by the glass and the bottle of wine we bought. this left a very bad taste in our mouths as we left, it is understandable for people who simply come in and drink the tasting wine and leave, however we had spent close to $100 already and felt the $8pp tasting fee should have been waived.

needless to say we will not be returning and would recommend others not go as well, staff were rude, owner was presumptuous and squeezing unnecessary money out of patrons,. there are plenty of other better wineries to visit in the region and would highly recommend giving this one a miss.

rude!. had a lovely albeit expensive lunch there with our family, the manager/s were very rude, the servings were very small for the price you pay. the view is very pretty and the wine is delicious. wont return unless their attitude changes or they get new management.

beautiful setting and view but the food is just ok. limited tapas menu with some good options but others very average. such a shame the food's not better as it's so lovely sitting out on the deck which overlooks the vineyard.

great view. that's it.. i will be one of the rare negative reviews here yet i came in over the weekend from seeing all the positive reviews and i can't say i was even at the same place, when i was.

the view is amazing. so gorgeous looking out onto the vineyard and in the sun it was really beautiful, yet that's where it ended. we sat inside and had a full view of the "kitchen" and i wasn't too happy with the whole menu.

we had the meatballs which was 5 tiny little balls of meat with a spoon of yoghurt on the side, creamy cheese and blue which was meant to come out on lavosh crackers yet was served with 4 tiny bits of bread for a large slab of cheese. not enough. then the most ridiculous part was the avocado, pancetta and walnuts; that's exactly what is it was. a half avocado with a few bits of pancetta and a single walnut crushed. what are you meant to do with that? where was the bread with it? that's right, for another $11 you could of had a loaf of bread to actually have with the spread that was served.

so, 4 tiny plates for $44. we were starving!!! what is it with all these toffy nosed wineries charging ridiculous prices for literally nothing on the plate? definitely a one visit only place as there must be other wineries and restaurants in the area that serve more than a mouthful for $11 a serve?

great venue, great food. the venue is beautifully designed and makes great use of a brilliant view. limited menu but given the space and the limited opening times it is appropriate. had the mushroom sausage rolls, the meatballs and the fritters all of which were lovely. three serves for two people was enough for a light lunch (and room for afternoon tea) and the desserts did sound tempting. if foxey's in on your way to a destination, or not too far out of your way a must visit for a light lunch in a lovely venue and location.

love this place! it's only small so it can get very crowded but the deck and view are fantastic. the tapas style food is amazing. nothing but water unfortunately though for non-wine drinkers. a must on a visit to the mornington peninsula.

really warm welcome, fun wine tasting and let the chef choose your dishes - every taste was amazing, especially the mushroom sausage rolls and the mojama tuna with pear and radicchio. great atmosphere on a chilly winters day
