relatively long lines during the weekend but well worth the wait. the puffs are cooked fresh so they come out very hot (be careful when biting in!). the dough is thin and soft, while the filling is a mildly sweet custard. each puff is bite sized so they go down very easily. we ordered a pack of 9 for $4. remember to bring cash as there is a surcharge for card.

where i go to satisfy my egg tart cravings, other stuffs worth trying include the bite size custard puffs, also the yum cha restaurant next door is still very good value for money by sydney standards

um. um. im not calling it bad honestly. i think it's great and the filling is so satisfying and the cake is fluffy. but im sort of disappointed. the size is perfect but i guess all the hype and the long queues made me expect something more than just tasty food. but!!

the long queues is totally worth it!! its perfect in everything but theres something missing for me so!! yeah!! 9/10 recommended!!

all they do is custard cream puffs, that is all and it’s amazing!

what’s the rule - if there’s a line, get in it! coz if it’s good it’s worth waiting for.

such an amazing price - $5 for 18 delicious bites of heaven - yes!!!!

expect long queue. some people said it's not worth queuing but who cares? it's cheap, it's sweet fluffy creamy snack, and it'll warm your tummy during winter.

if there's a more authentic chinese bakery around the area then i haven't been there yet. the somewhat 'grimy' appearance only adds to its chinatown-esque charm. all the usual stuff is there (egg tarts, red bean pastry, sweet melon puffs etc) and more. also try the cream puffs outside, you can't miss it because of the huge queue snaking around, though i feel it's not the main attraction compared to the stuff sold inside.

20 feb' 15 in the afternoon we went to chinatown nightmarket. the market is held every friday from 4pm-11pm. the place was packed, so it was kind of hard to move around. we tried bbq pork ($4), didn't really like it. bee cheng hiang is wayy better. there is also one place that had a long queue : emperor's puff we bought 3pcs for $1. the puffs were pipping hot, didn't really like it because the custard had a slight bitter aftertaste. dinner at naruone rice ($2) half-half ($35) we waited for more than 30 minutes for the chicken to came. the rice came not long after we ordered, but  the chicken hasn't come until the rice is cold. the boneless fried chicken gangjung was good, but there were too much chicken skin! :( the fried one is better, the other one (boneless fried chicken gangjung with sweet & spicy sauce) was too sweet for my liking, so it was kinda overwhelming after a few pieces.

funnily enough, word got out that someone knew the owners of emporer’s puffs so before we knew it, a warm batch of custard puffs were being passed around. the waffle-like aroma was pure comfort against the chilly breeze.

cream puffs ($5/15)
⭐️ 4/5 ⭐️
🍴affordable and delicious #creampuffs that draw a constant queue. located in chinatown, this small shop that’s a portion of #emperorsgardencakeandbakery serves hot and freshly made cream puffs out of a small window. we love that the puffs are highly affordable, wasn’t too sweet, and of a nice chewy fluffy texture.

terrible terrible service. dear potential customers - do not come to this store. the staff and especially manager are completely unprofessional and rude. the distress they cause is absolutely not worth it. the manager was rude when conversing and demanded tips. i don't think a restaurant that is unwilling to provide basic care and service to their customers is worth going to.

good hot fresh little cakes are served here and they are popular. lines don’t take long to clear as there aren’t really options. little custardy balls of yumminess

first of all, the famous custard puffs are great! a convenient, quick (depending on the line) and super affordable snack for after uni. my mum often buys the refrigerated pork and chicken buns from the bakery to take home, where the pork bun is slightly sweet and the chicken one has hints of ginger. both good! from the photos: today i bought an egg tart for $1.70, yes i could definitely taste the egg in there and the pastry was perfectly flaky and sweet. recently i also bought the glutinous rice ball, filled with red bean and surprisingly filling for its size. the atmosphere of the bakery is lively and busy, and there are so many choices of breads and snacks to choose from. yeah the store does seem kind of unclean but i can assure you that theres a reason for the long lines.

beaut cream puffs!
whenever i walk past the huge line queuing for the emperor garden's cream puffs, i'm always curious as to what it tasted like. at first i thought it was a tourist trap, but when you have locals (and tourists) alike lining up, then it must be good. so after work on monday i decided to line up for a try :)

price 10/10 - 35 cents per puff, $5 for 20, hectik price, cheap af, make sure you buy heaps for you, friends and da fam.

cream puff 9.5/10 - soft cakey goodness then a creamy hit when you bit into the centre, plus its very small sized so great to eat as a snack. only point off was that the hot cream scalded my tongue, but gains 0.5 points because that means it was made fresh :)

service - friendly cantonese woman making the puffs, but they don't let you take pics/film the actual process

the massively long lines (which seem to be there all the time) put you off (as it deterred me many times) but its definitely worth it to try this delicacy!
