great breakfast. this is an old cottage turned restaurant. get the ray ray. there is not much parking and usually a longwaitso if you have little kids that may be an issue.

first and last visit this morning. with a mostly empty restaurant, hostess sat us at the table right outside the entrance to thewaitstation and bathroom.

while reasonably quick, food was incredibly bland. grits tasted like cream of wheat, sausage was dry and overcooked. "red beans and rice," normally a favorite of mine, was comprised of 12 nearly unseasoned kidney beans on a pile of completely unseasoned white rice.

this local will not be recommending doc taylor's. we would have had better luck at ihop.

friendly atmosphere, visit on a weekly basis. my son is 18 months old and routinely finishes their short stack, eggs and sausage, he loves it. meanwhile i love the virginian omelet with sourdough and sausage patties. awesome mixed drinks, everything is well priced and staff is friendly. i only go during the week and never have towaitmore than five minutes. the food comes out quickly, and is always on point. now don't tell the tourists.

if you are anywhere close to the oceanfront this is the place you want to eat breakfast at. i love this place from the eggs, country ham to the great service. on the weekends it gets crowded, and you may have towaitto be seated, this is the only possible issue anyone can have about with this place. doc's is simply delicious!

favorite breakfast spot!. the downside of doc taylor's is that unless you get there super early (especially on a weekend, which is the only time i can go), it's usually a wait. thankfully, they have pretty good outdoor seating and great bloody marys to pass the time while youwaitfor a table.

if you like "greasy spoon" type breakfast spots, as i do, this place is great. my husband first found out about it last year and raved how good it was (since our formerly favorite greasy spoon breakfast spot seems to have closed down...). it did not disappoint! great diner style breakfasts, but everything is always made beautifully and tastes great. i usually stick to something egg related, though i'm itching to try on of their pancakes. while none of the breakfast menu items are particularly "weight conscious", they do have a few lighter options for those that are looking for it. but honestly, when i go here i pile up on the toast, bacon (which i normally don't eat) and hash browns!

the atmosphere on a typical weekend morning is usually loud and crowded: packed with locals and hung-over tourists alike. parking it out back and during the height of the season they give you a tag for parking. it's usually packed too, so be aware it can be a bit exciting to navigate if you have a larger vehicle.

amazing. doc taylor's is amazing, probably my favorite plasce to eat in virginia beach. the food was delicious. the waitstaff and barstaff are great-they really know what they are doing. they have the best, and cheapest, bloody marys in the world. my only complaint is the wait. the 2 hourwaitto be seated will keep us away unil the tourist season is over. go here.

hurry up and wait. i have only "dined in" once here. the last time i went by to check on the wait, it was at 4 hours. i ended up getting my food to go, which came out in record time. why would anyonewaitthat long for some breakfast? i admit that the food is good, but the service i am unsure about. i will continue to get my food to go, which means no tip for the servers from me, until thewaittime comes back down to something a little more reasonable.

great food & atmosphere, awful wait. i used to go to doc's all the time. i love the food, it always comes out fast and exactly how i like it. the same people have worked there for years which indicates to me that they take care of their employees and i like that. however, i haven't been in a year because thewaithas went from 20-30 minutes to over an hour on the weekends (which is the only time we are able to go). we have tried 7-10 times at different times and different times of year. but sorry, not worth getting out of bed at 7am when i don't have to go to work to eat at doc's! every time we walk away because, even though i absolutely love this place, i cannot justify waiting that long for anything. maybe i'm just impatient and have been spoiled from the days that you could get in in under 30 minutes. usually it would be a higherwaitduring the season but we could always get in on a sunday in the winter almost immediately. not anymore. if you don't mind waiting & you're not hungry yet & you're with a crowd, it's kinda fun. but if you're impatient like me, it's not worth it.

great food horrible service from my waitress. i'm a new local in the area, originally from fla. i had breakfast here (which was great), but the service was not at all. if you come here, do not be seated with kelly or kelley (whatever). she was very rude, short with me, forgot things and not attentive. i also felt compelled from eating after noticing her nails were dirty and smelling the reek of "last nights" alcohol. thewaitwas pretty long too, hopefully one day they can expand.

awesome breakfast/brunch/lunch spot. first of all, $1.99 bloodys, mimosas, greyhounds, etc- you just can't beat that. the breakfast is my favorite, but expect to wait.. but thewaitis actually fun with those $1.99 cocktails! a lot of people love the "ray ray" but you i get something different each time.

good brunch.... this is my second favorite breakfast spot behind citrus (citrus is a rare gem...). the food is excellent and the service is usually on point. expect awaitduring the summer weekends, but having a bloody/mimosa on the side patio makes thewaita breeze...

love it!. the ray-ray breakfast sandwich with chorizo sided by the parmesan tomatoes at doc taylor's is going to be my last meal if they should ship me off to old sparky. worth thewaitto get it, just hang out and drink reasonably priced mimosas or bloody marys on the porch until you get your table--morning buzzes for the win. regular summer people know about it but thankfully casual tourists get caught by pocahontas pancake house ("it was on food network!") and don't come down farther.

rider eater. food and service very good and at reasonable prices -- comfy homey atmosphere -- was there off season in late morning and still had over a 30 minutewait-- thankfully they have a comfy place right next door with free coffee and other to-pay-for drinks for inside waiting -- open only for breakfast and lunch -- so, unless you know exactly when to go, then be prepared, in season or out, for a lenghty wait, after probably having to walk 2 to 3 blocks from your parking spot -- definitely a favorite of the locals living year round at the beach.

a fantastic breakfast/lunch place (finally). it's so hard to find a decent breakfast or lunch in virginia beach. nothing wrong with waffle house or ihop, but there are only so many rooty tooty fresh n' fruities i can consume in a given month.

enter: doc taylor's.

located a stone's throw away from the beach in an old beach home, the setting of the restaurant suits its style very well: the atmosphere is very homey and casual, allowing the diner to relax amongst the visible controlled chaos going on in the open kitchen. the closed patio also adds a nice touch, and in the winter, seats near the fireplace give it more of a touch of home.

service has always been pleasant and timely, no matter how long thewaitis. most of the selections are what you'd expect from a breakfast place - pancakes, eggs with choice of meat, etc, are found. the difference here is that they actually do a good job by being thorough and can get the food out quickly, which is something other local breakfast places should take note on. other choices like "the stroke" add a nice element of humor and are just as delicious. all selections are very affordable, which is a hard find on the oceanfront.

breakfast and lunch done right with consistently excellent service - the reasons i continue to go every time i'm in virginia beach.
