doc taylor's

dependable, but not great. doc taylor's is the kind of place that can quickly become a favorite -- and therein is the problem. the service is frendly, and competent. thefoodis all of the breakfast faves, plus some (quiche, chipped beef, ray ray, etc.) competently prepared. the drink specials (screwdrivers, b marys, greyhounds, mimosas) are good, and value priced.

so what's wrong? two -- first, the menu hasn't changed in years -- no new specials, no changes (just like what change adverse h roads demands). second, the beach location, and funky charm, means the place is packed in the summer. waits of up to an hour can be encountered. so either go in the off season, or ...

three years ago, i visited this place with my family because my college bestie kept raving about the breakfast. my mom, aunt and i arrived in town early for our family reunion and met him for breakfast. then, i believe, they served $2 mimosas. it wasn't a super busy restaurant, so it was nice to enjoy the view and the company in peace. i don't remember what i ordered... i think it was an omelette, but thefoodwas amazing. this place was in walking distance from my friend's apartment, so that was nice except it started to rain as we were leaving lol. any who, this is a nice place to eat and i would definitely return.

been here twice - second time with the kids. thefoodis great quality and taste and portion size to meet even their expectations. make sure to get a bloody mary to wash it down they are tasty and again great value

doc taylor's is a really cool beach joint. i stopped in here to meet with a client over coffee and breakfast. i must say i was pleasantly surprised. the service was very good. the atmosphere is very low key and laid back. thefoodwas phenomenal. i had the eggs benedict. the hollandaise is fresh and the eggs were spot on. i really liked this place. i wish i had snapped some pics but couldn't because i was there in a meeting. but good news is i'm going to try and stop in next week again and hope to take some winners. done here with assurance. good eats, and cool atmosphere. nice job doc taylor's!

i had the eggs benedict ala graz and the doctor's world famous (bloody mary) for breakfast. both were delicious. doc taylor's was once a pink hotel and a practice ran by doctor taylor himself. today it is a popular breakfast and lunch establishment that serves affordable but amazingfoodand neighbors its sister restaurant tautog's. i enjoyed my time here and love that it is a short walk to the beach.

i liked this place. it's a house so you can easily pass it. i think they had a small parking lot. thefoodwas good, quick, and the staff friendly. they had the entrance door held open and i was afraid i would be swatting flies but suprisingly there were none. i would return.

my new favorite breakfast place! i ordered "the stroke" and it was perfect! eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, toast! all for $7! they are very accommodating and quick with theirfoodorders! service was great! just an fyi, their building looks like a house. no signs or anything so it was a little tricky to find.

first and last visit this morning. with a mostly empty restaurant, hostess sat us at the table right outside the entrance to the wait station and bathroom.

while reasonably quick,foodwas incredibly bland. grits tasted like cream of wheat, sausage was dry and overcooked. "red beans and rice," normally a favorite of mine, was comprised of 12 nearly unseasoned kidney beans on a pile of completely unseasoned white rice.

this local will not be recommending doc taylor's. we would have had better luck at ihop.

greatfoodat a small eatery!. my husband had the pesto chicken and i had the granola pancake short stack with an egg on the side. best meal yet, i. virginia beach! plus the kids had a decent selection on their menu.

friendly atmosphere, visit on a weekly basis. my son is 18 months old and routinely finishes their short stack, eggs and sausage, he loves it. meanwhile i love the virginian omelet with sourdough and sausage patties. awesome mixed drinks, everything is well priced and staff is friendly. i only go during the week and never have to wait more than five minutes. thefoodcomes out quickly, and is always on point. now don't tell the tourists.
