doc taylor's

dependable, but not great. doc taylor's is the kind of place that can quickly become a favorite -- and therein is the problem. the service is frendly, and competent. the food is all of the breakfast faves, plus some (quiche, chipped beef, ray ray, etc.) competently prepared. the drink specials (screwdrivers, b marys, greyhounds, mimosas) are good, and value priced.

so what's wrong? two -- first, the menu hasn't changed in years -- no new specials, no changes (just like what change adverse h roads demands). second, the beach location, and funky charm, means the place is packed in the summer. waits of up to an hour can be encountered. so either go in the off season, or ...

great food. great price. everything is nicely proportioned. good experience.

great food! breakfast all day long and good size portions. i had the crabby benny. crab cakes on eggs benedict. awesome! hostess was polite and wait staff as well. looking forward to going back to try something else.

three years ago, i visited this place with my family because my college bestie kept raving about the breakfast. my mom, aunt and i arrived in town early for our family reunion and met him for breakfast. then, i believe, they served $2 mimosas. it wasn't a super busy restaurant, so it was nice to enjoy the view and the company in peace. i don't remember what i ordered... i think it was an omelette, but the food was amazing. this place was in walking distance from my friend's apartment, so that was nice except it started to rain as we were leaving lol. any who, this is a nice place to eat and i would definitely return.

i recommend planning a stop at doc taylor’s on your trip to virginia beach. it is located a bit off the boardwalk, but worth the drive or walk. you get a lot of great, homemade food for your money. now, if they just moved this restaurant to the boardwalk with some ocean views it would be perfect! doc taylor’s is a breakfast and lunch local hotspot located near the boardwalk in virginia beach, virginia. this restaurant was packed on a weekday morning and seems to be very popular with the locals. most tourists probably wouldn’t think of visiting this restaurant as it is located a few blocks from the boardwalk. however, this was the best breakfast during our vacation to virginia beach! food this restaurant offered a good mix between traditional breakfast items and healthy items. they also had many items that you do not traditionally find on breakfast menus. i went with the vegetarian quiche, served with fresh fruit. the quiche was fantastic. my boyfriend ordered a southwest breakfast burr

great place!. we had breakfast and it was delicious. we walked in at 8:30 am and by 9 am there were more than 20 people waiting outside. strongly recommend it !!!

been here twice - second time with the kids. the food is great quality and taste and portion size to meet even their expectations. make sure to get a bloody mary to wash it down they are tasty and again great value

the banana pancakes are the best on the beach! and i can't complain about their bar either.
the only downfall is that other customers are your typical rude virginians, brunch screaming kids, and vaporing hipsters.
if you get there early, you don't have to deal with the hungover, missed morning mass crowd.

doc taylor's is a really cool beach joint. i stopped in here to meet with a client over coffee and breakfast. i must say i was pleasantly surprised. the service was very good. the atmosphere is very low key and laid back. the food was phenomenal. i had the eggs benedict. the hollandaise is fresh and the eggs were spot on. i really liked this place. i wish i had snapped some pics but couldn't because i was there in a meeting. but good news is i'm going to try and stop in next week again and hope to take some winners. done here with assurance. good eats, and cool atmosphere. nice job doc taylor's!

i've lived in va beach my whole life and while i have been to tautog's (their sister restaurant and next door neighbor) this was my first time at doc taylor's. well, my screwdriver was nice but my egg white omelet was not so nice. the first couple bites were done but as i cut into the center is was raw. i'm not talking undercooked either. i'm talking raw runny egg whites. stop rushing and watch your quality control. this was on a wednesday morning it was not rush time. i may try them again(accidents happen), but for now i'm just left with a bad taste in my mouth for doc's.

i had the eggs benedict ala graz and the doctor's world famous (bloody mary) for breakfast. both were delicious. doc taylor's was once a pink hotel and a practice ran by doctor taylor himself. today it is a popular breakfast and lunch establishment that serves affordable but amazing food and neighbors its sister restaurant tautog's. i enjoyed my time here and love that it is a short walk to the beach.

great breakfast. this is an old cottage turned restaurant. get the ray ray. there is not much parking and usually a long wait so if you have little kids that may be an issue.
