the best thai noodle soup!

for lunch, they have special
rice and noodle menu such as: bbq pork with rice, bbq chicken with rice, padthai, etc

i really love their pad kee mow (similar to pad see ew). the soy sauce and spices blended perfectly

for the noodle soup:

there are levels on this set of menu:

nursery:level0, without any chilli added
andlevel1 - 7

tried thelevel7 and i almost die

*you also can choose your noodle, from: flat rice noodle, fresh thin noodle, etc

will definitely recommend this restaurant to you who really love thai food especially noodle soup and spicy food!!

dont forget to try the dessert aswell, there are
•fried bun with custard sauce (a mix of pandan flavour and condensed milk)

•banana fritters
crunchy as heaven, must try. it dumped into the flour mixed with sesame seeds and they fried it till golden brown.

there's great stigma surrounding thai food, brewed by all the shitty fast/takeaway western style joints. so when i first visited thailand, almost three years ago, i was completely blown away at how bloody flavoursome and complex thai food actually is - holy sht, what crap have i been eating all this time? thai food is so complex - it's salty, it's savoury, it's spicy, it's tangy, it's sweet, and do dee finds the right balance between all these tastes to bring me back to phuket town. ok, it's a bit spicy but i asked forlevel3 heat for the signature noodles, so pretty much bought that upon myself t_t. it is spicy, be warned.

besides the normal thai stir fries and skewers you get from other thai restaurant, you are able to try some crazy spicy noodle soup here. there are 7 levels of spiciness where the higher thelevelthe spicier it gets. i've only ever tried up tolevel4. i think this is the max i can take, accompanied with a glass of iced thai milk tea. if you love chilli and want to take up the challenge, you should try this out.

the other dishes on the menu are pretty good too - food is tasty while its not too sweet like other thai restaurants do in the area.

worth to check out :)

my go to place for authentic thai noodle soup in the city. love the spicy do dee monster which is only atlevel1 in hotness. my tolerance for spice is already quite good but this dish was hot! if you dare go forlevel3.
don't expect anything fancy here but the prices aren't either. recommend it!

thai food has always been an international favourite. it's probably the most eaten take away across the country but its not easy to find somewhere authentic. i haven't been to thailand but expats have said this place is pretty real. you'll certainly notice the menu isn't what you'd expect from you're typical run-of-the-mill thai eatery.
when do dee paidang says 'spicy', it means business. so we played it safe, and stuck to thelevel1 and 2. and i'm glad i did because even thelevel1 had me grabbing at my milk tea and chewing on the ice cubes. spiciness aside, it was delicious!! umami, sour, full of texture!
aside from noodles, we also tried the rice. the soup stock was very similar in flavour but with added corriander. the rice was still firm, which i enjoyed but i understand why some might find this dish a bit confusing - as its not really congee, just rice swimming in soup.
one of the highlights of the night was the tum tard. just looking at the platter screams excitement!!! there's a bit of everything and its all so delicious. i especially loved the deep fried school prawns (which can be ordered separately) and the pork crackling. the extra bits and pieces gave the som tum extra depth and was great fun to share.

the amount of thai speaking customers at this restaurant bodes well for it authenticity. in terms of spiciness of the food, i can assure you they have a very authenticlevelof spiciness. i was keen on a boat noodle, but couldn't find it on their extensive menu, so had the tom yum noodles which feature extensively on their menu (funnily enough, most of the other thai customers ordered the non-noodle dishes). i ordered the do dee lava noodles and being alevel3 spicy level, i thought this would have been a pretty safe bet since i can eat moderate levels of chilli. boy o boy was i wrong. either they prepared it wrong, orlevel3 for a thai local is equivalent to alevel8 or 9 out of 10 for me. it was so spicy, i couldn't eat the dish much and just ended up picking out various bits of meat from the sad looking bowl. if i was to return, i think i would pick a non spicy, non noodle dish! chilli masochists rejoice!

my first visit left me with an urge to return immediately. it was a plate of crispy pork belly with chilli and basil. unlike other restaurants, they deep fried the pork belly and each bite has its crunch and also melts in your mouth. however my second visit, we decided to order crispy pork belly with prik khing sauce and my heart sunk as they were too sweet and over cooked. quite disappointed but we learned our lesson that this dish is not to my liking, maybe those who has sweet tooth would not mind this. other than that, their papaya salad, red duck curry, deep fried betel leaves with prawns were delicious. not forgotten their famous noodle dish, it was really nice, we orderedlevel5 but i suggest orderlevel3 as you will have a chance to enjoy the flavour without any bitterness from the chilli. last but not least, best banana fritter i ever tasted in sydney. definitely going back

i like my chilli like i like my war, nuclear. …wait, that didn’t come out right. but i do like my chilli hot, and do dee paidang in haymarket has certainly thrown down the gauntlet, serving up a bowl of spicy noodles that have beaten many a food. their supernova noodles are labelled aslevel7, for the 7 spoonfuls of chilli that they put in it. supernovalevel7 spicy noodles when you place the order, the waitress doesn’t just give you the dubious look that she saves for drunk men trying to pick her up. no, she first assumes that you mean something less spicy, and she points to thelevel3 andlevel5 options on a menu so filled with pictures it looks like a child’s storybook. i firmly stand my ground...

located in chinatown is the second do dee paidang – the first is in bondi. we’ve heard stories of their legendary super spicy 1,3,5,7 spiced noodle dish and this lunch visit was dedicated to the no 7. we also had a couple of eats from their lunch menu. this rather packed and popular thai noodle bar and cafe is a hit with a locals and from a glance at the crow, popular with the thai crowd. do dee paidang was punched this lunchtime visit. the red white blue colours of the thai flag are the central colours in the space here. the menu is a large laminated graphics menu dish a2 sheet. salmon dish from the lunch menu cashew thai. lunch menu pork belly rice. lunch menu. of the 3 items above, these were servicable decent and affordable lunch eat options. we ordered the spring rolls with mango sauce as we’re fond of the ones at home thai. this was less good and priced the same. inside was just bits of carrot/cucumber and we don’t think it warranted the price – compared to the homethai version this was sort of underwhelming. like a few bits of salad sticks stuck in a spring roll wrapper. the levels. as mentioned earlier, they have these in spice levels 1,3,5 and 7. it should be noted, these come in 2 sizes, a small for $5.50 and a large for $10. we got 2 smalls for $5.50 each. top pic is thelevel3, the bottom is thelevel7 (classed on the menu, rather delightfully as the supernova). when we placed the order, the waitress was like “you sure you want? very spicy” and then proceeded to grab the chilli pot on the table. three scoops. we said yes, she shook her head a little and left. when she came back. we recieved thelevel3, and 7 dishes. both dishes are the same, clear bean (?) vermicelli, crispy wontony noodles on top, pork, and fish balls. only the spicelevelis different. thelevel3 is a spicy simple eat. it’s fiery but nothing overtly impossible. you can still taste the ingredients. the supernova however is a totally different story. it does not smell like much anymo

a fantastic well priced thai eatery in chinatown. upon entering the restaraunt we were pleasantly surprised to see mainly thais dining here which was very reassuring. we were warmly greeted by our waitress and provided with the various menus which were abundant with thai classics but most impressive was their various soups on offer. the volcano tom yum (level5) certainly lived up to its title with an abundance of chilli powder which i would not recommend for the faint hearted. make sure you order it with the fresh rice noodle. the pork , basil and chilli stir fry was pretty stock standard accompanied with rice however the som tom was a standout , particularly the salted crab which really lifted the overall taste of the dish. the papaya was crunchy and fresh and the nuts , tomatoes and thai dressing of lime and fish sauce gave it an extra zing. would love to return and try the plethora of the other soups and other dishes on offer . for the price point, it was great value for money and authentic.
