i cannot believe all of the poor reviews!!! we are here for lunch yesterday, and not only was the service awesome but outr grouper sandwiches were perfect! the breaking was light and not greasy, bun was perfectly grilled, we ordered side salads which were extra but huge and fresh. their cole slaw was spot-on as well! i will say they could put a larger piece of mahi on the kids meal, but other than that it was excellent and the ambiance was so nice!

the grouper might have been the worst i've had in a long while. cold and over cooked. the vegetables were $4 extra and were bland. crowded, loud, overpriced. just can't recommend it.

linda from mississippe. i am very surprised after reading all of these reviews. i have eaten at dewey destins for several years now and have never had a bad experience. it is my favorite place in destin to eat. i have a place in miramar beach and all of the friends and family that go there say it is there favorite also. their fried shrimp can not be beat. i have had it a a lot of other places in destin and none compare with dewey's. i have been to both places and love both of them. just ate there again last week and another great meal. they were very honest in telling my husband that the oysters were not very big so they would not suggest ordering them now. they were also out of snapper, but if you want a certain catch of the day, you need to go early.

service and food wasn't good. i had a crying baby and the staff acted as if they'd never seen that before. we were seated outside but i still had the courtesy to walk out to my car with my child. we had to ask several times for drink refills and napkins and eventually ended up asking someone who wasn't our waiter. pretty poor service for food that tasted like it was straight out of the frozen section of winn dixie.

fantastic and such a great location. i'm just sorry it's not a well kept local secret anymore. this weekend ( bad time) was the longest wait i've ever experienced here. the only negative was who told the gumbo cook it needed to be so hot (spicy) ? it burned me up!

touristy, overpriced and very average!. had dinner last night at dewey's. it was the first time for us but had heard it mentioned by several people. we waited 90 minutes on a thursday night at 8:00. we ordered off of their fresh fish menu. it was a long wait for the food and it was just ok. i had the grouper @ $27 - i found it overpriced for what you get and mine was overcooked. also for a meal at that price i would expect homemade sides. i got crinkle cut cheap fries and cole slaw that tasted old. everyone at the table felt the same way. too touristy and overpriced!!! not worth the wait at all!!

not up to the hype!. when you see a hole in the wall place to eat, you would think that the food would be great...in this case, it's not!

i got the fried fish, shrimp and scallops and none of it had any flavor. just bland seafood. i could tell it was fresh, but it didn't make up for the bland taste.

my wife got the crab legs and she said they were good.

i know good seafood and this isn't it.

great food!!. i was kind of hesitant when i saw the restaurant.....however, once we got seated and got our food, i was absolutely amazed!! definitely recommend eating here if you're in the area!!!

disappointed.............. for the price we paid i was expecting something better. my potatoes and corn was cold, and when i say cold - my butter just sat there, it never even tried to melt. our shrimp was supposed to be "spicy" but it was the shell on shrimp and after peeling it, there was no spice left and it was just plain ol boiled shrimp. it was fresh, but just not worth what we paid for it. our waitor was very nice and very attentive, making sure we were all taken care of. if you go after 5:00 be prepared to have a very long wait and i mean up to 2 hours. if i had it to do again i would go to louisianna lagniappe or bubba gumps just down the road.

good fresh seafood. this is one of the few places on the gulf that actually serves fresh fish. we've eaten here many times and it's always been good but the portions are getting smaller and smaller. they also have the best hush puppies and crab cakes.

i ate here last year and had the grouper parmesan. it was very yummy. so we decided to eat there this year. let me tell you what happened tonigt and why i will not be going back. they brought out my husbands plate which was grilled shrimp and grilled fish with fries and hush puppies. i'm sorry, but for twenty dollars a plate or more they can have better fries and puppies than from the local frozen food section. then i received my plate. i tried cutting into it and couldn't. i cook fish a lot and knew it should flake apart. i could to even cut it with a knife. so i scraped the parmesan off, and the fish was completely raw. when i told our waiter about it, he took it back to the kitchen. he came back saying he could give us a piece of key lime pie on the house. wow. a thirty dollar plate of food is sent out completely raw and you give me a slice of frozen pie? i'm sorry but it was awful. our bill was 73 dollars and i felt sick trying to eat the fish that came back out. now my husband and i are ordering a pizza because we are both still hungry. don't be fooled by the large amount of people here. they are known for fried food. a lot of imperfections can be covered up by fried batter.

great food, view, and service. yes it's a bit costly, have u priced fish at destin ice across the street. grouper, tuna, & cobia over $20 per pound. so it's not rare for good, fresh seafood to be expensive. there are cheaper places serving previously frozen imported seafood. best hush puppies and blackening seasoning in destin.

stick with the simple/cheap menu items. this place is a fish shack (both locations) -- which means fried fish or shrimp, french fries, cole slaw and fish or shrimp sandwiches. stick with that and you'll get good food for a good price. i don't know why they feel the need to offer "fancier" items, but none of the locals order that kind of thing because the cooks (not chefs) are fry cooks. i've had many tasty sandwiches and baskets here and will again. just go somewhere else for fine food and you won't be disappointed.

diners from louisiana. horrible.. we left there disgusted by the food and more disgusted by what we just paid for it! we ordered the hot crab dip to start.. very mediocre and served with ritz crackers! .. for 10 bucks! then the waiter suggested we order the grouper and the snapper and then split them.. i am pretty sure he gave an eyeroll when we mentioned ordering the mahi. but,, we went along with his suggestion instead. we were both served a piece of grilled fish with some very weird sweet sauce on it.. with 3 new potatoes and half an ear of corn. there was no reason to share our fish because i am 99% sure he brought us both the same thing.. it was our fault for not questioning or sending it back.. but i believe we were a bit shocked by the plates that were put in front of us for 28 bucks! i also found it very odd that our very opinionated and talkative waiter didn't ask us how we felt about the food,, i believe he knew that our order was wrong and didn't feel the need to correct it. i would never go back to this place!!.. if i want some sort of white fish in a weird sauce i would rather go to a chinese buffet. this place sucked and i hate that our one splurge meal while we were in destin was totally wasted here.
our meal, with tip, was about 82.00. this was for the two fish meals and my son's child shrimp basket, the crab dip and we all drank water.
