dewey destin's seafood

first time visit--great shaded courtyard to wait for table, and even on memorial day weekend, wait was less than expected. seafood chowder was tasty and not too rich. jack scallops were rich but yummy. our great waitress anna recommended the destin grouper and it was very well-prepared--not overcooked and tasty crab/lemon topping. we had a great view of harbor and superb service. tasty stuffed shrimp had plenty of crabmeat and were very flavorful. wil definitely return!

heard great things about the place and i gotta tell ya i was disappointed. took over 10 mins to get a server when there was only 5 tables in the place with over 5 servers working. we place our order and she brought me out the wrong item. when i pointed out the fact that it was wrong she told me there was only one kind of shrimp on the lunch menu. i disagreed and she went to look and can back saying i was right. i ate what was brought to me tho and it was discounted a whole $1 for the experience. your job isn't that hard. i'm in the restaurant business. not recommending to any.

where the locals eat. tuna salad was great, and the grilled grouper was fantastic. coming back here again before we leave. add a little pepper and salt to the potatos

probably the worst seafood i had in destin the french frys were fried twice and the sea food was even worse this was on the dock the fish was old want do that again

the atmosphere is casual/nautical and they have an outside seating area that overlooks the water. as for the food i had a cup of seafood gumbo that was slightly above mediocre. my seafood platter though was all very high quality seafood that was very fresh. this was a very pleasurable place to sit outside and eat good seafood while watching the boats drive around.

this was our first time visiting destin we decided on trying dewey’s based on reviews. we were very disappointed with the wait staff and cold seafoodless gumbo. our waitress was annoyed that we expected good even just warm soup . waste of money :(

we chose dewey's dockside because the traffic in destin was bumper to bumper and we were hungry, and dewey's was a block away from where we got stuck. this is an old time fish house. i don't think that we got the best service, but we went for an easy lunch and did not require a lot of attention. we are in love with grouper which we can't get at home in new orleans. both of us ordered it fried on a sandwich, but you have a choice with how you want it prepared. the default side is fries, and we probably would have ordered a different side if had been offered. i thought the sandwich was very tasty. it was a sizeable portion that was extreemly satisfying. we were able to sit outside and enjoy the harbor view.

the food was great, so was the service. the yellowfin sandwich was unbelievable. if you eat here get an order of the hush puppies they are great too.

we heard great things about dewey's and so stopped in for lunch while on the boardwalk.  we visited in late february and so sat out on the back deck where the weather, temperature and view of the harbor were just perfect!  we did find our waitress a little gruff but i suppose that may be because we arrived with a baby who was sleeping in the stroller and so we didn't want to leave it (the stroller) at the entry, but preferred to bring her on the deck with us.  since it wasn't too busy the hostess accommodated us but our waitress seemed a little "put-out".  having been told that dewey's had won awards for their seafood gumbo everyone in our party ordered a cup as an appetizer and it turned out to be pretty good but not great.  i wouldn't bother with it again.  next i ordered the captain's shrimp catch (or something like that) and had the shrimp fried on the recommendation of our waitress.  what came was a meager portion of fried shrimp, and a completely pathetic portion of fries all at a fairly substantial price.  the shrimp was just ok and the fries were limp and lifeless.  my wife ordered the mahi-mahi sandwich which she said was a little cold and needed a little more of the sauce on it (which was the tastiest part).  overall not terribly impressed and probably wouldn't go back.

it doesn't get any better than the fresh seafood at deweys. get the grilled platter. food was so good we had to go back before we left town.

it was ok... what i did love was the smoked tuna dip. it was amazing! everything else was just ok. i had the grilled shrimp and fried fish. there was some sauce that was tasty though.

we went here to lunch for today.  we were expecting a lunch menu (their website has one) so when we sat down and did not see one, i knew we were about to drop some money.  the so got fried fish (i believe it was mahi mahi), the little one got fried shrimp, and i got the pecan crusted grouper.  the pecan crusted grouper itself was really, really good.  the corn and the potatoes that came with it were really bland with no flavor whatsoever.  the so's fried fish was really dry and the fries she had were so-so.  the hush puppies are really, really good.we sat in the upper deck which has a very good view of the bay.  

overall, we ended up spending $65 for lunch because no lunch menu was provided. unfortunately, we won't be coming back during the rest of our stay.

this is our 3rd time at dewey's. every time we have had a positive experience. we will definitely keep coming back. the hush puppies are the best in town.

very good seafood at a reasonable price. the place was packed, but our server was very quick and took good care of us. i will be back.

dewey's is awesome! i had wonderful food and excellent service. i had the parmesan mahi mahi and it was amazing. one of the best places to eat on the beach.
