old school florida seafood. it's not much to look at, but the food and staff are worth the visit. i recommend the steamed shrimp, but i'm sure any fresh catch will be delicious!

mmm, enjoyed the old location 2 years ago and i was surprised to see the new location. so i had to make an unscheduled stop in for some key lime pie. then i couldn't turn down that hot crab dip. nice visit. got to watch the airplanes from the deck put on a show. i will be back!

love this place. we've been there twice now. we brought the boat over from crab island, docked, ate and went back to playing. great food!

price value?. after the positive ratings, and the fact that i had not had lunch, i expected to like this place. it is exactly as described, a wonderful local eatery, very rustic with a great, bayside ambiance. however, i had a grouper sandwich, which i always eat somewhere in destin every year for the last decade, and my wife had grilled shrimp. the grilled shrimp was good but it may have been an off day for me because the grouper tasted "old" as did the fries. but a skewer of shrimp, a grouper sandwich, and two ice teas, should not cost $32 not including tip. great place but lacks price value.

true destin experience. this is it. the original seafood experience in destin. drive down the bumpy side road and park in the sand. enjoy being 200m from crab island as you eat fresh shrimp and fish. sip sweet tea or a beer. then hop back in your car (or boat, since you can dock there) and drive pass all the tourists flocking to mega-restaurants on hwy 98.

great idea but terrible execution of dewey destins harborside. the building is unairconditioned, incredibly stupid for any facility in florida, and smells of rank fish and sweaty armpits. despite all this i was looking forward to eating crabcakes, a dish that i am very familiar with from several different local restraunts. i ended up paying $18.95 for a rank tasting microwaved set of crabcakes and fries. tourists and locals alike beware dewey destins harborside.

it doesnt look like much...litterally you order in a shack and eat on a picnic table on a dock. but it's the best seafood i've ever had....fantastic!

local. had lunch there recently. the fries were stone cold, the coleslaw had no flavor except for lots of mayo. the service was poor. had to ask for an ice tea refill when the waitress finally came back at the end of the meal to ask if we wanted dessert ( just to run up the bill). i have eaten there once before at dinner and the baked potato was cold and hard and the dinner salad was wilted. quite expensive for the amount of food. all in all just another tourist trap like so many places in destin. if you want excellent food at a reasonable price go to big city bistro in ft. walton.

wow! fresh trigger. knew it had opened since i had seen a review in the beachcomber (www.thebeachcomber.org). daughter "red" & i went looking for it today...and you do have to look or you'll pass it by. saw chef jim shirah there right off, outside cleaning fish and knew it was going to be great! yes, freshly caught trigger was on the menu. it was great, as was red's grouper sandwich. best cole slaw in destin and what a treat to see how dewey has fixed up the old home up on the hill from the docks. that's where his restaurant is...filled with old destin harbor photos from the real days of fishing here. view was mighty fine. a+

a new winner.. this is a great new restaurant. stopped by for lunch and had some of the best fried oysters ever. my wife had the grilled mahi mahi and it was perfect. i personally know the chef (jim) and can tell you whatever he puts out is only the best. the place is light and airy with great old photos of the way destin used to look like. if you don't try this place you will be missing out on a real gem!

greasy food, over priced and everything by a chef who is reaching with his menu. the original restaurant, on a pier, was bragged on-but was no better. i expected more depth to the menu and better service. c+
