dewey destin's seafood

must try the jack scallops!. stopped here on vacation. we got 2 appetizers, the friedcrabclaws and the jack scallops.both were really good but the jack scallops really stood out. these are a must order if you enjoy scallops.they are cooked in a white wine, butter and garlic sauce then topped with monterrey jack cheese and broiled. we got the lunch specials which run on weekends as well. i had the grilled shrimp skewer which was very good. the shrimp were well seasoned and the remaining sauce went well with the potatoes. my guests had the fried shrimp and the popcorn shrimp which were good as well.

so far so bad. 2 hour wait for a party of 4. we ordered thecrabdip app while waiting in the courtyard area. had to flag down the server, just to clean the table and order. the table next to us ordered twice before we received our app. still waiting to be set. but from our experience so far i will not be returning.

i got the grouper destin and substituted the grouper with trigger fish. it was excellent! realcrabmeat, fresh local seafood, good atmosphere. it's nice to get fresh local seafood, unlike some other chain restaurants. highly recommend.

good for what it is. we went here because of the positive rating on here. i was expecting something a little nicer perhaps, but it's pretty much like a dockside seafood joint, maybe a little less touristy.

wait was short but the sat us in a part of the deck that seemed crammed and had way too much traffic. the server did a very good job though.

the food was pretty good. thecrabcakes had a lot ofcrabmeat and weren't too fried or over-breaded. fries were frozen ridge cut kind, not very good. my wife had shrimp and mahi and really liked her dish.

great food! bestcrabcakes i have ever had. the food has never been frozen and tastes great! i would reccomend this seafood to anyone.

terrific seafood... huge portions.... sort of tricky to find this place but once you do, you won't be sorry.... a true dive of a place that serves truly fresh and delicious seafood... i had thecrabcakes and my wife had the fried mahi mahi sandwich and both entrees were not only delicious but very generous in their portions... i had twocrabcakes that looked like small saucers and were stuffed with crabmeat... they were delicious! the place has a very cool vibe as you get your own refills and it's set right on the water and you get the smells and sounds of the gulf along with your meal. we watched the sun slowly fade into the water as we dined... truly a memorable place to eat and one that we will definitely be revisiting... we loved it...

great food!!!. my husband and i went to dewey destin for my birthday dinner. we had thecrabcake appetizer which was amazing. hands down the bestcrabcake either of us have ever had. we both had a side salad. everything was very fresh. then we both had cheese burgers, his had bacon. the meat was marinated and the hamburgers were great. very tasty. the restaurant was extremely busy, but our server was right on the ball. didn't even have to ask for drink refills. the prices were fantastic and the server did not even charge us for our drinks. meal for 2 plus the appetizer and side salads was under 40 bucks. will definitely be back!

not up to the hype!. when you see a hole in the wall place to eat, you would think that the food would be great...in this case, it's not!

i got the fried fish, shrimp and scallops and none of it had any flavor. just bland seafood. i could tell it was fresh, but it didn't make up for the bland taste.

my wife got thecrablegs and she said they were good.

good fresh seafood. this is one of the few places on the gulf that actually serves fresh fish. we've eaten here many times and it's always been good but the portions are getting smaller and smaller. they also have the best hush puppies andcrabcakes.

diners from louisiana. horrible.. we left there disgusted by the food and more disgusted by what we just paid for it! we ordered the hotcrabdip to start.. very mediocre and served with ritz crackers! .. for 10 bucks! then the waiter suggested we order the grouper and the snapper and then split them.. i am pretty sure he gave an eyeroll when we mentioned ordering the mahi. but,, we went along with his suggestion instead. we were both served a piece of grilled fish with some very weird sweet sauce on it.. with 3 new potatoes and half an ear of corn. there was no reason to share our fish because i am 99% sure he brought us both the same thing.. it was our fault for not questioning or sending it back.. but i believe we were a bit shocked by the plates that were put in front of us for 28 bucks! i also found it very odd that our very opinionated and talkative waiter didn't ask us how we felt about the food,, i believe he knew that our order was wrong and didn't feel the need to correct it. i would never go back to this place!!.. if i want some sort of white fish in a weird sauce i would rather go to a chinese buffet. this place sucked and i hate that our one splurge meal while we were in destin was totally wasted here.
our meal, with tip, was about 82.00. this was for the two fish meals and my son's child shrimp basket, thecrabdip and we all drank water.

excellent service not good food. went there for the first time 4/21/14 ordered grouper with crab. thecrabwas full of shells and the waiter took it back the chef told her what do you expect it is fresh. she got me another grouper dish with shrimp but either plate was not grouper. looked like white fish and did not taste at all like grouper it was a very thin piece of fish. the gumbo was very good and so was the slaw and hush puppies the waiter daisy was one of the best.

good first visit. the hotcrabdip was really good! we also tried the friedcrabclaws and peel & eat shrimp. i had the parmesan grouper which was delicious. loved the hush puppies that have a little kick of jalapeño in them. everything we had was yummy, came out hot and timely. very good service for a busy friday night!

the grouper was not fresh andcrabover the top was poor. fresh steamed veggies were frozen green giants that were microwaved. service poor and the food worse. view was good. there are better places to spend your money.

over priced tourist trap. we ate at dewey destin's on the harbor yesterday. i had fried grouper and shrimp and wife had grilled snapper and shrimp. food was over cooked and way overpriced. they give no senior, snow bird, military or locals discount. plates of food were over $20 and not worth it. you can eat much cheaper and even better seafood at other places along our coast. specials and discounts can be had at black pearl and thecrabtrap and food is very good and about 30% cheaper with the discounts that they offer. dewey destin's is a tourist trap for sure with prices way over reasonable.
