dewey destin's seafood

overpriced. we came here several years ago buying shrimp at thisplaceand now it's overpriced and looks like a low budget dive. i would go elsewhere at these prices.

it seems to me the prices have gone up in the past few years since i first visited dewey destin's, but my wife and i keep coming back. the food is tasty and the setting on the dock jutting out into the bay can't be beat. since it's off the beaten track (i.e., highway 98) it seems to attract more locals than tourists. it's a small place, so it can fill up fast. but, it's a favoriteplaceto grab fresh local seafood.

we just had the best lunch at dewey's. our family sat out on the deck overlooking the harbor and ate some delicious, fresh seafood while watching the boats come and go. this isn't a fancyplaceso don't come expecting high dining, but it is casual, tasty and has great views. fresh fish right off the boat? doesn't get better than this and it was a great last stop before heading home from vacation. also, the service was great and prompt. we will definitely stop here if ever in destin again.

love dewey's.. we have been to the original dewey's many times and it never fails to deliver. when you go to this location you could be put off by the appearance of theplacebut don't turn around. great food!! we have been to the newest location once and the food and service were good there as well. love the original one for the" picnic feel" and the sunsets.

thisplaceis off the charts! best food we ate all week!!!! their pirates punch was full of alcohol to bring out the captain in you!! the boiled shrimp with spicy seasoning with the butter, blew me away!!!! i am def coming back!!!!

fast food but gourmet prices and poor service. after waiter found that we had been there before, all service basically ceased...had to remind to bring my wine and it finally came when food came, never came and checked back on us, etc. etc. never asked if we wanted dessert...the red snapper is great but i'll find someplaceelse for the fast food and awful service. felt like since we were return customers they didn't have to do anything to keep us coming back...it was my last time there.

terrific seafood... huge portions.... sort of tricky to find thisplacebut once you do, you won't be sorry.... a true dive of aplacethat serves truly fresh and delicious seafood... i had the crab cakes and my wife had the fried mahi mahi sandwich and both entrees were not only delicious but very generous in their portions... i had two crab cakes that looked like small saucers and were stuffed with crabmeat... they were delicious! theplacehas a very cool vibe as you get your own refills and it's set right on the water and you get the smells and sounds of the gulf along with your meal. we watched the sun slowly fade into the water as we dined... truly a memorableplaceto eat and one that we will definitely be revisiting... we loved it...

heard great things about theplaceand i gotta tell ya i was disappointed. took over 10 mins to get a server when there was only 5 tables in theplacewith over 5 servers working. weplaceour order and she brought me out the wrong item. when i pointed out the fact that it was wrong she told me there was only one kind of shrimp on the lunch menu. i disagreed and she went to look and can back saying i was right. i ate what was brought to me tho and it was discounted a whole $1 for the experience. your job isn't that hard. i'm in the restaurant business. not recommending to any.

the atmosphere is casual/nautical and they have an outside seating area that overlooks the water. as for the food i had a cup of seafood gumbo that was slightly above mediocre. my seafood platter though was all very high quality seafood that was very fresh. this was a very pleasurableplaceto sit outside and eat good seafood while watching the boats drive around.

very good seafood at a reasonable price. theplacewas packed, but our server was very quick and took good care of us. i will be back.

linda from mississippe. i am very surprised after reading all of these reviews. i have eaten at dewey destins for several years now and have never had a bad experience. it is my favoriteplacein destin to eat. i have aplacein miramar beach and all of the friends and family that go there say it is there favorite also. their fried shrimp can not be beat. i have had it a a lot of other places in destin and none compare with dewey's. i have been to both places and love both of them. just ate there again last week and another great meal. they were very honest in telling my husband that the oysters were not very big so they would not suggest ordering them now. they were also out of snapper, but if you want a certain catch of the day, you need to go early.

not up to the hype!. when you see a hole in the wallplaceto eat, you would think that the food would be great...in this case, it's not!

i got the fried fish, shrimp and scallops and none of it had any flavor. just bland seafood. i could tell it was fresh, but it didn't make up for the bland taste.

my wife got the crab legs and she said they were good.

i know good seafood and this isn't it.

stick with the simple/cheap menu items. thisplaceis a fish shack (both locations) -- which means fried fish or shrimp, french fries, cole slaw and fish or shrimp sandwiches. stick with that and you'll get good food for a good price. i don't know why they feel the need to offer "fancier" items, but none of the locals order that kind of thing because the cooks (not chefs) are fry cooks. i've had many tasty sandwiches and baskets here and will again. just go somewhere else for fine food and you won't be disappointed.

diners from louisiana. horrible.. we left there disgusted by the food and more disgusted by what we just paid for it! we ordered the hot crab dip to start.. very mediocre and served with ritz crackers! .. for 10 bucks! then the waiter suggested we order the grouper and the snapper and then split them.. i am pretty sure he gave an eyeroll when we mentioned ordering the mahi. but,, we went along with his suggestion instead. we were both served a piece of grilled fish with some very weird sweet sauce on it.. with 3 new potatoes and half an ear of corn. there was no reason to share our fish because i am 99% sure he brought us both the same thing.. it was our fault for not questioning or sending it back.. but i believe we were a bit shocked by the plates that were put in front of us for 28 bucks! i also found it very odd that our very opinionated and talkative waiter didn't ask us how we felt about the food,, i believe he knew that our order was wrong and didn't feel the need to correct it. i would never go back to this place!!.. if i want some sort of white fish in a weird sauce i would rather go to a chinese buffet. thisplacesucked and i hate that our one splurge meal while we were in destin was totally wasted here.
our meal, with tip, was about 82.00. this was for the two fish meals and my son's child shrimp basket, the crab dip and we all drank water.

decent location, typical fried fish type restaurant. not a ton of options for someone seeking a healthy meal so we just went for the gold and tried to infamous fried shrimp platter. the shrimp were big and the coleslaw, potatoes and corn were good. if you're wanting a waterfront restaurant experience with decent food this isn't a bad option.

don't order the mahi or anything that just says "fish" on the menu. the waiter informed us that none of their mahi is fresh, it's frozen. you don't go to a seafoodplaceon the ocean for frozen fish!
