dewey destin's seafood

fantastic fish. if a person sticks to what they do best, they will walk away from dd having had a great dining experience.
i had the special of the day which was grilled scamp.
scamp is like a grouper but sweeter in flavor.
it was amazing. sweet, flaky, and moist.

as with any place in destin, try and go when the crowds are smaller.
the kitchen does a better job. i went one night when it was packed and had the grilled triggerfish. it was dry. i also had stuffed shrimp and i didnt like it much. i am used to that dish in louisiana. for some reason, florida cannot do cajun as well as cajuns can. i had a dish at mike anderson's in baton rouge that had stuffed shrimp on it and it was much better.
so stick to the fish at dewey's. their way of doing fish is better than the cajun way. go for what the places do best.

want well-prepared seafood?. drive to anywhere in maine.
don't bother with any of destin's offerings

blahhhhhhh!. yikes!
who in their right mind would go to this one to get a wholesome meal?
service was horrible
large stuffed shrimp was featured as shrimp stuffed with crab wrapped in bacon . . . . bacon was raw, crabmeat if any was oversupplied,with breaded stuffing, then the mass was deep fried in a crusty batter
one of our party had scallops jack which were runny, but tasted ok
another had salad which was colorless iceberg lettuce with little if any nutritional value.
hush puppies were old, and tasteless
gumbo featured as 12 ounces was far less, ok in taste but only one lonely shrimp to represent the seafood feature of a seafood dish
floors were almost dangerous they were so slippery.
i was tempted to ask for the server's toothbrush to clean the crack in between the tables, the tops of which were sticky.

have been there several times. i believe it has the best fried crab claws in destin. oyster sandwich is top notch. just be prepared to wait.

i was disappointed. the food was mediocre. service was okay. price wasnt that great either

terrible. the crab dip appetizer should be called mayonnaise dip with mystery fish. served with ritz crackers. the food was served faster than it is taking me to type this review. most of the food is fried. the presentation of the food is sloppy. the half ear of corn was overcooked and mushy. the coleslaw only came out when we requested it. this was unusual because they left it off of every plate. i wouldn't go back if they paid me

bad impression of real thing. the original at crab island is way better as far as food, atmosphere, service, everything. we were very disappointed at the harborside dewey's.

poor value , but entre was good. forty dollar grouper plate came with no sides including bread. after complaining ,did get two rolls.

great seafood but terrible service. i ordered the fried shrimp and oysters and they seemed a little soggy. i sent them back to the cook wagon but overheard the young cook laughing about it saying he was "too frat to care". he looked to be about 18 years old wearing ray bans while he cooked. not the professional service the prices advertise. i will never eat here again. harbor docks is your best bet in destin.

okay. scallops excellent, shrimp very good, fish disappointing which is a surprise...i had fish fried....went to bay location. bayou bills is better.

first time to visit dewey destin and the food was absolutely incredible. we had the fish parmesean and the crab cakes. but... the absolute worst service i have ever had. we had a meat head waiter who only came to take our order, deliver our food, and bring our check. he walked by 6 times without acknowledging us. to top it off, he spilled sauce all over our shoes with no apology. ugh.

hush puppies or go elsewhere!. after reading the great reviews, ventured with a group to dewey's and was a little disappointed (nov 17, 2012)... no real view of the water, they sat us by a door, not much in decor or atmosphere, and older crowd set.. asked the waiter what he would have if he was hungry, he answered "i'm not really hungry".. laughs*... after some prying, he recommended the shrimp, and was served some big pieces of shrimp and some sweet hush puppies... also had cole slaw, and didnt finish it, nor did anyone else at table, was awful!.... others in party ordered from the catch of the day menu, and each described thier dishes as satisfying, but mediocre at best.. if you go, order the shrimp and hush puppies, and ask for outside table... other than that, not really worth going, with so many other options in destin!

very disappointed. this place was highly recommended our hotel staff. outside of eating on the bay, the experience was terrible. first, the waiter, he showed no urgency in serving our needs. secondly, i wonder if grouper is all they have in these waters. everyone suggested one of the many grouper dishes on the menu but i was disappointed with the parmesean grouper. it was cooked to death in a hardened mess of parmesean cheese and the saltinesses of it was overwheleming. to top off, when we were ready to pay, "sorry we do not accept american express because they charge us 3.5%? it may be me, but when a waiter tells me the reason they do not accept a form of payment because of the high surcharge, it not about serving the customer.

probably won't be back. celebrating my dad's 85 birthday there. i had the grouper destin (grouper with crab meat on top). i just couldn't taste the difference between the crab and the fish because there was little taste in either. my sister got the crab cakes but there was to much cake and not enough crab. shrimp was good though she said. waiter seemed uninterested. i said something about my dad turning 85 and she just kind of shook her head as if to say ok. i'm tempted to go back and try the shrimp but there are so many other choices i'll have to think about whether or not i want to risk it.

amazing! our favorite place so far! hostess was great, bartender was spot-on, and our server was quick. we had such a great experience! sat on the deck and only waited 20 minutes, totally worth it! the dewey's lemonade and pirates punch were both super yummy! scallops and stuffed shrimp were our favs!

great food!!!!. we visited dewey destin on a thursday evening and had no wait! we sat on the top deck and had a beautiful view of the ocean. the regular menu was amazing and i took advantage of one of their "black board" specials. my husband, teenager, toddler and myself all found selections to our liking. again, the food was great!!! the service was just okay... i expect a little bit more when paying on average $20.00 an entree. with that being said, we will most certainly eat there again.
