dewey destin's seafood

must try the jack scallops!. stopped here on vacation. we got 2 appetizers, the fried crab claws and the jack scallops.both were reallygoodbut the jack scallops really stood out. these are a must order if you enjoy scallops.they are cooked in a white wine, butter and garlic sauce then topped with monterrey jack cheese and broiled. we got the lunch specials which run on weekends as well. i had the grilled shrimp skewer which was very good. the shrimp were well seasoned and the remaining sauce went well with the potatoes. my guests had the fried shrimp and the popcorn shrimp which weregoodas well.

we did this the past two years while on vac in destin i just ok to me but i don't like seafood i got grilled chicken it was good/ok but the other 4 ppl that like seagoodnot the best but good

love dewey's.. we have been to the original dewey's many times and it never fails to deliver. when you go to this location you could be put off by the appearance of the place but don't turn around. great food!! we have been to the newest location once and the food and service weregoodthere as well. love the original one for the" picnic feel" and the sunsets.

unfriendly, unhappy staff. bad vibe. food wasgoodbut overpriced.

i got the grouper destin and substituted the grouper with trigger fish. it was excellent! real crab meat, fresh local seafood,goodatmosphere. it's nice to get fresh local seafood, unlike some other chain restaurants. highly recommend.

we liked the style of the restaurant more than the food, but overall it was agoodexperience. gumbo was a little more like etoufee to me, friend shrimp were good. my hubby loved the fried oysters, but wasn't impressed with the fried mahi mahi. hush puppies were yummy, though.

not the best seafood i have had at destin. it was agooddinnet though. you will wait so get there early.

good for what it is. we went here because of the positive rating on here. i was expecting something a little nicer perhaps, but it's pretty much like a dockside seafood joint, maybe a little less touristy.

wait was short but the sat us in a part of the deck that seemed crammed and had way too much traffic. the server did a verygoodjob though.

the food was pretty good. the crab cakes had a lot of crab meat and weren't too fried or over-breaded. fries were frozen ridge cut kind, not very good. my wife had shrimp and mahi and really liked her dish.

the atmosphere is casual/nautical and they have an outside seating area that overlooks the water. as for the food i had a cup of seafood gumbo that was slightly above mediocre. my seafood platter though was all very high quality seafood that was very fresh. this was a very pleasurable place to sit outside and eatgoodseafood while watching the boats drive around.

this was our first time visiting destin we decided on trying dewey’s based on reviews. we were very disappointed with the wait staff and cold seafoodless gumbo. our waitress was annoyed that we expectedgoodeven just warm soup . waste of money :(

we heard great things about dewey's and so stopped in for lunch while on the boardwalk.  we visited in late february and so sat out on the back deck where the weather, temperature and view of the harbor were just perfect!  we did find our waitress a little gruff but i suppose that may be because we arrived with a baby who was sleeping in the stroller and so we didn't want to leave it (the stroller) at the entry, but preferred to bring her on the deck with us.  since it wasn't too busy the hostess accommodated us but our waitress seemed a little "put-out".  having been told that dewey's had won awards for their seafood gumbo everyone in our party ordered a cup as an appetizer and it turned out to be prettygoodbut not great.  i wouldn't bother with it again.  next i ordered the captain's shrimp catch (or something like that) and had the shrimp fried on the recommendation of our waitress.  what came was a meager portion of fried shrimp, and a completely pathetic portion of fries all at a fairly substantial price.  the shrimp was just ok and the fries were limp and lifeless.  my wife ordered the mahi-mahi sandwich which she said was a little cold and needed a little more of the sauce on it (which was the tastiest part).  overall not terribly impressed and probably wouldn't go back.

it doesn't get any better than the fresh seafood at deweys. get the grilled platter. food was sogoodwe had to go back before we left town.

we went here to lunch for today.  we were expecting a lunch menu (their website has one) so when we sat down and did not see one, i knew we were about to drop some money.  the so got fried fish (i believe it was mahi mahi), the little one got fried shrimp, and i got the pecan crusted grouper.  the pecan crusted grouper itself was really, really good.  the corn and the potatoes that came with it were really bland with no flavor whatsoever.  the so's fried fish was really dry and the fries she had were so-so.  the hush puppies are really, really good.we sat in the upper deck which has a verygoodview of the bay.  

overall, we ended up spending $65 for lunch because no lunch menu was provided. unfortunately, we won't be coming back during the rest of our stay.

verygoodseafood at a reasonable price. the place was packed, but our server was very quick and tookgoodcare of us. i will be back.

not up to the hype!. when you see a hole in the wall place to eat, you would think that the food would be great...in this case, it's not!

i got the fried fish, shrimp and scallops and none of it had any flavor. just bland seafood. i could tell it was fresh, but it didn't make up for the bland taste.

my wife got the crab legs and she said they were good.
