best meal in hattiesburg and arguably mississippi. if i had to recommend one restaurant to eat at in south ms, cotton blues would be it. the grilled pork belly small plate with blueberry compote is one of the best bites i've ever had. and while cb has some high quality seafood and organic proteins. they also offer great value with there $9 house burger and blue plate specials most weekdays for just $10. but i do recommend calling ahead friday and saturday, they get very busy!!

just some thoughts!. just to be clear, i really like cotton blues, but there are a couple of things that could have been better on my first visit. i ordered the "baseball steak, now called i believe the cowboy steak" and even though it was less than twenty dollars, i expected more than french fries and three small onion rings. i might suggest a better starch, such as baked potatoe, garlic mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes. any thing except french fries! service was excellent, as was the decore. i loved the stainless tableware, very upscale and easy to use. ordered the pecan pie, and was treated to an exceptionally good desert. i will certainly put cotton blues on my list of good eateries!

cotton blues is the best thing thats ever happend to hattiesburg. i went to cotton blues with my sister this past wednesday and right away i knew i would be in love with this place. first of all, great job on the interior decorating. cotton blues' atmosphere is like nothing else i've experienced in hattiesburg. we were seated in the main room and were greeted by a young gentleman who delivered an assortment of fresh bread and spreads to our table. our server was jeff, and he was amazing! very attentive and knowledgable about the specials and desserts! we ordered cheese curds and they were to die for! they come with a tomato jam and a sweet mustard sauce ( they sell the tomato jam at the hostess stand- which i think is a really unique touch). then we ordered the hazelnut chocolate pie, which was also delicious! what i am impressed with most, is the experience cotton blue creates for it's customers. even though this restaurant has only been open a few weeks, its obvious that they spent alot of time preparing for their opening. basically, you need to go eat here now! i'm positive you'll have a good experience and if for some reason you don't, please communicate any issues you have to the managers, because they seem genuinely concerned in their customer's experience.

damn good food. the food is great ! not good but great. i have had the pleasure of having the pork belly sliders, the pork chop, the rabbit egg rolls, hamburger (med rare, yes you can order it the way you want it) with pork belly on a homemade bun, she crab soup, fried chicken and most of the sides. this place is top notch. service is great, as we usually sit at the bar and enjoy the drink specials. shaun is directly behind you baking one of his 8 or 10 weekly special pies/cakes. drew behind the bar is also top notch, the bottom line is this. its real food, scratch made, beer is cold, the signature teas are strong. go here, go now.

even with reservations we waited 45 minutes to be seated at 7:30! heavily staffed with untrained staff. will give restaurant another try because of unusual food combo. once seated we all were pleased.

the cynical cook (kiss my gumbo). cotton blues is a solid restaurant that will definitely do amazing things. many of the dishes have a deep southern flair to them, but the cooking is firmly rooted in southern tradition. every dish was thought out and well executed. i very much enjoyed the cotton blues breakfast, served with grits, two eggs and corn bread :-). the rabbit southern egg-rolls are very interesting and delicious. the collard greens are yummy so does the farmers mac and cheese - in a few words, it all works well together specially for a city that deserves something good to eat other than a bunch of chains. the pies are to die for and make for a great southern dessert - not too rich, sweet enough to satisfy anyone's appetite for southern pies. the hostess and management staff exuded southern warmth and hospitality, and the waiters are very attentive making it a great experience. the bar outstanding with an ok selection of wines for my taste but that's a minor thing, the cocktails and specialty drinks like the king cotton tea, taste awesome. impressive for a small town like hattiesburg. in a nut shell they brought it!! :-) .. to me, if you're going to splurge, this is the place cause everything is scratch made..

one of a kind!. cotton blues unique approach of bringing together food, farmers, chefs, and musicians makes it a must try in hattiesburg. i have yet to taste a dish i have not loved, but the grilled crispy sweet cornbread, grilled pork belly small plate, and the pan roasted organic chicken are all at the top of my favorites list. when you eat at cotton blues, you can tell that all the food is scratch made... even their pasta is cranked out by hand daily. in an effort of full disclosure, i must admit that i'm related to the owner. however, that's only given me inside access to see the effort that goes into cotton blues menu everyday.

unique dining experience. enjoyed everything about this restaurant. incredibly thoughtful, from their admirable philosophy to the decor, to the outstanding food. luckily i was with a group and was able to taste several menu options. the french onion soup dumplings are not to be missed, and the desserts are some of the best i've ever had ( tried the whiskey pecan pie, turtle cheesecake and the coconut cream pie!) several remarks around the table were "just like my grandmother used to make, but better!" already have plans to eat here again next week.

amazing food, great atmosphere. unlike the previous post, we were greeted with more than pleasant attitudes by the staff at cotton blues. even staff that were not responsible for our table were constantly checking in and ensuring that service was at the highest quality. everything we tasted from the menu was exceptional and of flavor that is unique to hattiesburg. it is very apparent that the chefs at this restaurant know what is going on and how to please their customers. even the bread and assortment of spreads were exceptional. the soup, egg rolls, deviled eggs, sea bass, and fried chicken are all must haves at cotton blues. the pastry chef who makes fresh desserts in the bar area has a special talent, each was amazing. the bar and outside patio with live music is great for entertainment and offers an experience that is hard to find in hattiesburg!
