pretentioussouthernfood. this restaurant sucks. called an hour ahead, waited an hour for a table. food is someone trying to makesouthernstaples into haute cuisine, which totally misses the point of bothsoutherncomfort food and haute cuisine. what a ridiculously over priced joke!

excellent food and service!. i was really impressed with the restaurant and the service. i dined with a party of 5. we are not local, so it was important for us to find a restaurant that would be really worth the trip. cotton blues was it! the salads are excellent. ingredients seem really fresh, and dishes are house made. i recommend the organicsouthernfried chicken, and substitute the lima beans for the braised greens. omg. heaven! oops, i forgot to add that we shared the fried cheese curds and they were also equally as awesome. the tomato jam was sweet and unique, but perfect!

additional credit. with regard to italian wine dinner (below), credit carl vancoppenhagen (carl's wines, best wine store in town) for all things concerning wines plus coordinating the event.

promising start. cheese curds (appetizer) was accompanied by 3 fine sauces;southernfried chicken a bit dry; garlic butter shrimp had wonderful savory sauce. altogether, our food was way above average.
cotton blues is off to a very good start. a few glitches among waitstaff trying to decide whose table was whose slowed things down, but once we had a dedicated waitress, all went smoothly enough.
bar is spectacular: best dry martini in town, and check for happy hour times/prices. wine list is brief but well-chosen.
altogether a welcome addition to the h'burg dining scene.

off to a great start?. having heard they had a private grand opening, i phoned for info, to be told by a person with a rather unpleasant voice that they might open to the public by week's end for dinner only. this person added, "but you'll have to make reservations."
i was tempted to ask just how i was to make a reservation when they weren't even open yet, but instead i just hung up.

outstanding - excellent food and service. we stopped here on way back from dallas to pensacola based on reviews. we were not disappointed.......greeted when stepped in front door, quick to get table, but ate at bar because of atmosphere. the bartender, jordan, was very polite and awesome - asked us our names, discussed daily specials and made food recommendations. from the fresh tasty bread with 3 dipping options, to the pecan crusted oysters and thesouthernfried egg rolls, then to the shrimp crepes and then finished with the homemade cheese cake topped with mango-habernaro sauce, we were delighted!!!! the manager, molly, was just lovely and accommodated our special request as well. awesome place, will go back! if traveling through, a definite stop just a few minutes off the interstate! a must place to go!

no blues here, very happy. i went here today (sunday lunch), and it was a very enjoyable experience. the female bathrooms were clean and the decor in there was very nice. as far as the food, i ordered the honey bourbon glazed porkchop entree with the crawfish mashed potatoes and the farmers mac & cheese, my friend ordered thesouthernfried chicken and for the appetizer, the egg rolls. absolutely delicious!!! the bread and cornbread served right when we sat was also wonderful. you can tell that this food was made with a passion because even the sauces and butter were delicious. for a party of two, i paid a little over $50 plus tip, but it was so worth it. i have never tasted food this outstanding before and i love food. great customer service, my cup never went dry and our waitress was very nice.

excellent experience. the wife and i dined at cotton blues a few weeks back and had one of our most enjoyable dinning experience in hattiesburg in some time. the culinary trio of antonie anthony, zach walters and shaun davis are on to something. located inside a very nice building that once housed a wintzel's oyster house, the location has been re-purposed into unique restaurant experience.

a decent location and great building would mean very little if they couldn't deliver in the kitchen, and trust me these guys deliver!

the menu issoutherncomfort food for a slightly more sophisticated pallet. we began our mean with a order of fried cheese curds, not exactly asouthernstable about as comforting as comfort food gets, but the twist was the sauces they served with the cheese curds - a sweet tomato jam, a creole mustard sauce and a blueberry compote. the cheese curds were perfectly prepared but the sauces were exceptional, especially the blueberry compote.

i ordered one of my all time favorite dishes - shrimp and grits. my wife ordered the organicsouthernfried chicken.

their interpretation of shrimp and grits was very unique fresh gulf shrimp and pork belly in a crushed tomato and okra stew served over grits that were infused with a sharp boursin cheese. i also ordered a side of fresh greens.

the shrimp and grits were very good, a smaller plate but just right, the greens were excellent as they had some more of that sinful pork belly cooked with them.

my wife reports that her fried chicken was as close to her dearly departed grandmother as any she has had since her passing. the sides of fresh mashed potatos and gravy and butter beans were well above average for any resturant.

we split a slice of house made cheese cake that was as good as you'll find anywhere in south mississippi.

in all an excellent experience and a welcome addition to the food scene in hattiesburg.

wonderful dinner at cotton blues. cotton blues is a unique restaurant that serves food with asouthernflair. the savory combination of herbs mixed withsoutherncooking creates a delight for the palate. the appetizers, entrees, and desserts such as margarita key lime pie, were all very enjoyable. the restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere.
it also has a very nice wine list and a large selection of specialty drinks. they are open for lunch and dinner

southern flair. i have eatensouthernfood since i was a child. breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon snacks made by granny, and lots of amazing dinners or "suppers" as we call it. after developing asouthernpalate over the years i was really surprised with the overall menu at cotton blues. it's like all the greatsouthernfood i grew up on is offered in an upscale restaurant here in the pinebelt! but the great surprise is the twist that each item has. cotton blues has taken all thesouthernstaples from granny's house and put a unique twist on each. i could go on for hours about the intricacies that each item has, but believe me you want to try them all for yourself to experience the flavor. i have. this restaurant has some of the best food in a 100 mile radius, if that. it's just unique. the decor, service, food, and price will have me coming back on a regular basis. congratulations, cotton blues. can't wait to try the lunch menu!

the cynical cook (kiss my gumbo). cotton blues is a solid restaurant that will definitely do amazing things. many of the dishes have a deepsouthernflair to them, but the cooking is firmly rooted insoutherntradition. every dish was thought out and well executed. i very much enjoyed the cotton blues breakfast, served with grits, two eggs and corn bread :-). the rabbitsouthernegg-rolls are very interesting and delicious. the collard greens are yummy so does the farmers mac and cheese - in a few words, it all works well together specially for a city that deserves something good to eat other than a bunch of chains. the pies are to die for and make for a greatsoutherndessert - not too rich, sweet enough to satisfy anyone's appetite forsouthernpies. the hostess and management staff exudedsouthernwarmth and hospitality, and the waiters are very attentive making it a great experience. the bar outstanding with an ok selection of wines for my taste but that's a minor thing, the cocktails and specialty drinks like the king cotton tea, taste awesome. impressive for a small town like hattiesburg. in a nut shell they brought it!! :-) .. to me, if you're going to splurge, this is the place cause everything is scratch made..
