we were going throughnormanon the way to the chickasaw cultural center, and stopped here for a quick lunch. raegan got the fish sandwich and a corn dog. she figured the sandwich would be small, but it wasn’t, and was hard pressed to finish the corn dog. she liked the fishburger, and said the corn dog was excellent. ian, erin, and i got burgers. we really liked them. they were not the very best cheeseburgers we’ve had, but they were far from the worst (and they were better than any braum’s or sonic burger i’ve had in the past couple years). my burger could have had a better crust to improve texture, but it had decent flavor. i also got a chili cheese dog, which i really enjoyed. the beef dog was tasty, and the chili was the right amount and a good compliment to the dog. we got a couple tots, and they were nice and crispy. the tea and the coke was really good. service was fast and friendly. our check was $35.50.

a must when innorman:). i don't go tonormanvery often but when i do it's a given that i will be stopping here to eat. this is one of the best burger places i've ever eaten at. the cajun fries are just flat out incredible and the burgers are cheesy, beefy goodness. they also have a wide selection of slushes, sodas and shakes. the best part is that not only is the food amazing, you don't have to empty your wallet to eat here.

romantic spot. when i was in high school, my wife (then girlfriend) and i used to come here for lunch to split the cajun fries because we didn't have much money. this was before anyone had curly fries that i knew of. still delicious and always fresh...unlike arbys. now i take my daughter here for late night snacks.

i don't really care much for the burgers or the slushes, but everything else i've had is perfect. i think that part of their secret is that they use peanut oil for frying, and everything is made to order...hot enough to burn you if you're not careful! my favorite items on the menu are the fried chicken sandwich and the fried pickles. i love the potato boats as well, but they are way overpriced.

what i love most of all is that it is anormaninstitution. and when sonic started to move in right next store, i was outraged. they moved to the corner instead, but you know who looks the busiest to me? norman's own classic 50s.

delicious!. i go tonormanonce or twice a month for business and i always make time in my busy schedule to stop at classic 50's. it is so good!!
i love all the fried foods (especially the broccoli cheddar nuggets) and appreciate that they have the potato boats.
it's a wonderfully diverse and delicious (and unhealthy) menu which that other drive-in across the way can't claim.
yes they are a little slow and i've had to re-request the ranch dressing they left out of my bag a few times but i do not let those minor inconveniences bother me.

anormaninstitution. if you've attended the university of oklahoma, its very likely you've come to classic 50's more than just a few times. classic style drive-in with equally classic burger offerings. sonic (corporate burger) has been trying to kill off this independent drive-in for years. they moved a brand new sonic right next door to them, nobody went, so they shut it down and moved the sonic down the street. not sure if they're doing any better but who cares, i only go to classic 50's anyway.

skip sonic- get the pickleoos. if you are looking for burgers and fries with a local twist go to classic 50s. i had the pickleoos (fried pickle slices with ranch dip) and really enjoyed them. the mustard burger (#2) hit the spot. the root beer was prime. next time you are innormanand want a burger go to classic 50s.

a must visit. you will never go to sonic again.  this is the best drive-in around! the menu is like sonic, but with taste! the onion rings are better here, the corn dogs are amazing, and the slushes are more varied and wonderful too. this locally-owned drive-in is the way to go. try a crimson and cream slush to truly have thenormanexperience.

this drive in is a classic institution innormanand everyone should try it at least once. it's locally owned and is a vital part of the community. some of the best things on the menu (if i remember right from my undergrad years) were the chicago hot dog, burgers, and drinks. even better than the sonic next door.
