this place has always been a favorite of mine but new the new ownership has updated the outside and improved the menu. the new hamburger patties have been upgraded to 1/4 lb. instead of those paper thin patties. they even added veggieburgersand sweet potato fries. the drink/candy combos are endless but i recommend the sour sprittle...the best!!!

nothing special. i have driven past classic 50's many times but had never tried it. so, after the ou-texas basketball game, my wife and i stopped in for a couple of late night burgers. she had the number 2 cheeseburger with mustard and i had the bacon cheeseburger with mayo. we were not impressed. theburgerswere okay, but the meat was very thin and they were not a good value. i am not a big fan of the oklahoma chain across the street, but i would choose sonic over the classic 50's.

a must when in norman :). i don't go to norman very often but when i do it's a given that i will be stopping here to eat. this is one of the best burger places i've ever eaten at. the cajun fries are just flat out incredible and theburgersare cheesy, beefy goodness. they also have a wide selection of slushes, sodas and shakes. the best part is that not only is the food amazing, you don't have to empty your wallet to eat here.

romantic spot. when i was in high school, my wife (then girlfriend) and i used to come here for lunch to split the cajun fries because we didn't have much money. this was before anyone had curly fries that i knew of. still delicious and always fresh...unlike arbys. now i take my daughter here for late night snacks.

i don't really care much for theburgersor the slushes, but everything else i've had is perfect. i think that part of their secret is that they use peanut oil for frying, and everything is made to order...hot enough to burn you if you're not careful! my favorite items on the menu are the fried chicken sandwich and the fried pickles. i love the potato boats as well, but they are way overpriced.

what i love most of all is that it is a norman institution. and when sonic started to move in right next store, i was outraged. they moved to the corner instead, but you know who looks the busiest to me? norman's own classic 50s.

skip sonic- get the pickleoos. if you are looking forburgersand fries with a local twist go to classic 50s. i had the pickleoos (fried pickle slices with ranch dip) and really enjoyed them. the mustard burger (#2) hit the spot. the root beer was prime. next time you are in norman and want a burger go to classic 50s.
