nothing special. i have driven pastclassic50's many times but had never tried it. so, after the ou-texas basketball game, my wife and i stopped in for a couple of late night burgers. she had the number 2 cheeseburger with mustard and i had the bacon cheeseburger with mayo. we were not impressed. the burgers were okay, but the meat was very thin and they were not a good value. i am not a big fan of the oklahoma chain across the street, but i would choose sonic over theclassic50's.

romantic spot. when i was in high school, my wife (then girlfriend) and i used to come here for lunch to split the cajun fries because we didn't have much money. this was before anyone had curly fries that i knew of. still delicious and always fresh...unlike arbys. now i take my daughter here for late night snacks.

i don't really care much for the burgers or the slushes, but everything else i've had is perfect. i think that part of their secret is that they use peanut oil for frying, and everything is made to order...hot enough to burn you if you're not careful! my favorite items on the menu are the fried chicken sandwich and the fried pickles. i love the potato boats as well, but they are way overpriced.

what i love most of all is that it is a norman institution. and when sonic started to move in right next store, i was outraged. they moved to the corner instead, but you know who looks the busiest to me? norman's ownclassic50s.

classic fare, hometown taste!. i loveclassic50s. when i moved here it was the first place a friend took me to! their cajun burger is great, and they have good drink options. good pricing too! i just wish their credit card machine was outside like sonic has, but that's okay--i'll keep coming back for more sweet 'tater fries!

delicious!. now that sonic stopped serving fried pickles,classic50's is the only place around that still does. they are amazing! i also like their party boat potatoes. they are super good too. the wait isn't long like others have said. they are always really nice as well. never had any problems, as of yet. so 2 thumbs up!

delicious!. i go to norman once or twice a month for business and i always make time in my busy schedule to stop atclassic50's. it is so good!!
i love all the fried foods (especially the broccoli cheddar nuggets) and appreciate that they have the potato boats.
it's a wonderfully diverse and delicious (and unhealthy) menu which that other drive-in across the way can't claim.
yes they are a little slow and i've had to re-request the ranch dressing they left out of my bag a few times but i do not let those minor inconveniences bother me.

it can't even be compared to sonic like some of these reviews are attempting.classic50's is delicious and fun. you have to try the peanut butter shake, the sprittle, curly fries, and any one of the cheeseburgers. these other reviews are wrong when they claim it's similar to sonic and the service is slow. i couldn't disagree more.

a norman institution. if you've attended the university of oklahoma, its very likely you've come toclassic50's more than just a few times.classicstyle drive-in with equallyclassicburger offerings. sonic (corporate burger) has been trying to kill off this independent drive-in for years. they moved a brand new sonic right next door to them, nobody went, so they shut it down and moved the sonic down the street. not sure if they're doing any better but who cares, i only go toclassic50's anyway.

great!.classic50's has been around for a while, and is a local institution. the food is better than sonic's, plus it has the whole "local" thing going for it (i guess in oklahoma sonic is local, but you know what i mean). the slushes are great, and they have quite a few flavors to choose from. the friend pickles are awesome. the best part, though, is that they make their own root beer and it's some of the best! price wise, it's about the same as other drive-ins. if you're in norman, it is worth checking out.

skip sonic- get the pickleoos. if you are looking for burgers and fries with a local twist go toclassic50s. i had the pickleoos (fried pickle slices with ranch dip) and really enjoyed them. the mustard burger (#2) hit the spot. the root beer was prime. next time you are in norman and want a burger go toclassic50s.

this drive in is aclassicinstitution in norman and everyone should try it at least once. it's locally owned and is a vital part of the community. some of the best things on the menu (if i remember right from my undergrad years) were the chicago hot dog, burgers, and drinks. even better than the sonic next door.
