not sure why people complain about the wait. this has the best coffee i've had in sydney - hands down.
before, i thought i was drinking good coffee at my local cafe, until i went to campos.
the baristas have all been working there for a long time, testament to their professionalism and is a good sign in any cafe or restaurant thay they treat it as a profession, not just a job between uni lectures.
the standard has been raised for me - there are other places that have coffee just as good now but this was the first for me.

i don't understand why people complain about waiting. if three baristas can barely keep up with demand, then it would indicate that the coffee is rated highly. i would be more worried about a cafe in newtoan that wasn't busy - indicating that it's no good.

what can i say! coming from melbourne, the centre of coffee, this place is just awesome....

while not the young son, or outright champion of the sydney coffee scene anymore, the who's who of coffee love this place to death (dutch coffee is a fanatic slow drip set of glass pipes and a slayer is, more-or-less a type of espresso machine where almost everything can be controlled on the spot for those not in the nerdy know).

loose the 'tude. nice coffee but last time i was there, the staff were rude. plus the wait time is crazy. there are plenty of places in newtown where you can get a beautiful cup of coffee without the attitude

the range of available accompanying bites and snacks seem to be intently limited. after all, the emphasis is on the coffee.

things we do for coffee. when i am back in sydney i always make a trip out to newtown and buy / stock up on my coffee for when i work away !!!!!!. people ask what my coffee is and i tell them, not are all as educated as us !

can't see what the hype is about. coffee was thin and over extracted. the superior blend is way too dark and i can't believe they use rubbish like png and robusta in their signature blend. baristas are also very unfriendly and pretty slow. sorry but i wont be back.

the space is pitch black save for a long wooden table, stainless-steel edged and lit by a line of spotlights. our host, todd has laid out 6 small bowls of coarsely ground coffee for each of us to ‘cup’ or taste. cupping, he explains, is standard practice for roasters all over the world. the idea of cupping is that because you’re removing all the variables inherent in brewing coffee, you’re leveling the playing field and you really are just tasting the coffee. each step of the cupping is usually given a score and that’s how a coffee is chosen by buyers.

bad service. great coffee but at a price - a very long wait.
i've been a few times and it's always the same - a avg wait of 15-20 minutes. no thanks, rather go down to road to cafe ism.

i was first introduced to campos a few years ago by my sister and brother who had just moved up to sydney from melbourne. eager to find a good coffee house that could cater their needs they were at first, at quite a loss .. it didn't seem as if sydney could deliver… but suddenly they found through driving around … a little coffee house tucked away in a corner hiding a wonderful coffee heaven… and when i first visited them after their move… (whilst i was still in uni, so we're talking wayyyy back)… they took me to campos for a visit… and i've fallen in love with their affogato $5 ever since… so during my recent trip, i bugged big bro to drive down to newtown so that i could have a little sip of coffee heaven… the espresso was still as good as i remembered… and the ice-cream ( serendity belgian white chocolate ice cream ) was still so rich

like you can't get good coffee elsewhere for a short walk??. campos coffee can be great, unless the machine's been working non-stop for a while without servicing and then you get sour and bitter coffee. it seems no one else notices cos the lines are ridiculously long (for anyone in need of caffeine) and nearly always you're forced to take away cos of lack of seating (and standing space to wait). all hype no satisfaction.

good coffee which outweighs the bad ambiance & acoustics in this place - might be that jazz music just sounds like noise to me.
