up through a short flight of stairs, the first thing to hit you is the purposeful noise and bustle of a busy and successful café. from the moment you enter, you can sense that the staff takes coffee seriously and you are guaranteed a great coffee.

i love the coffee here and that the regular staff remember me, but i use the beat the q app otherwise the wait is awful especially in such a small space.

oh cant say anything else but campos is the best coffee i've ever tasted, strong mild and bold after-taste.

talking about the coffeeshop at newtown in general is great. have tap water and glasses ready for customers to take ourselves. good and friendly service eventhough busy, smiley staffs. keep up the great work!

the waiters were really rude and had a pretentious attitude and the coffee was not that amazing. never coming back again. rather have crap coffee than being treated badly.

disappointed.. i study at sydney uni and have to say that the baristas at the campos serving cafe on eastern avenue make better coffee.
the place is so damned small and claustrophobic as well, if you're unfortunate enough to order a take away after a large order, you have to wait and wait, and feel like the walls are closing in.
horrible environment and ambiance and the take away coffee isn't much either.

the waitress was rude and impatient. on 09jan13 around 12ish, i visited and ordered a sml cap and then advise her (a blonde young girl)i will eat in. the waitress was rudely answered as "no, it has been processed as take away, you can't have it here even though the price is the same'

i then ask her about the reward program as they put out a small flyer on the cashier machine.again she 's very impatient and reluctant to explain the details of it but just roughly replied as " you deposit credit into the reward card and use it' instead of telling me how client will get rewarded.

very very very disappointed with the fame they earned! not the 1st business that once they got enough reputations and their stuff starts to get sucks...

my coffee addict of a husband and i have been hunting down the best coffee in sydney, so it was no wonder we decided it was time to head down to the flagship campos coffee store located at newtown, which was awarded 3 cups (i.e. full marks) by sydney morning herald's good coffee guide 2012. established 10 years ago, this cafe used to be a sleepy shop beneath an apartment. things are different now of course, and it's always bustling with life, even on weekdays! the first floor is where the expresso bar is situated. throngs of tourists and locals alike flock here just to savour the best coffee. no menus are provided but they offer the usual classics like latte, espressos, and also extras such as affogatos, iced coffees, teas and hot chocolate. we only realized on hindsight that the second floor has a cupping room, which is probably worth a go for every coffee lover at $30 per pax. for the uninitiated, cupping is similar to wine tasting. according to campos coffee's website, "cupping is a

located at 193 missenden road, campos coffee is a hole in the wallesque coffee joint located in newtown.  you enter via a short flight of stairs into a fairly simply decorated cafe space, with the cafe counter out front, with 4-5 guys behind, a pastry selection adjoining and seating at the rear of the room. the focus is on making coffees and that’s what campos coffee is about. coffee guys. milk guys. waitress. its very efficient and a well oiled machine. there is a selection of roasts they put together and this truly is a coffee connoisseurs joint.

great coffee. queues. i walk by this every morning to catch the bus but hardly ever get coffee from here because i don't want some crabby bus driver to yell at me and/or not let me take me coffee on the bus. that said, the coffee here is supeb. i grab it on the weekend - so odd that they shut on sunday? i guess that's because they don't really do food/brunch. still great coffee. some of the best to be had.

if you love coffee be sure to check this place out, the beans taste perfect without too much a hint of bitterness and the baristas prepare the coffee with great presentation and creamy milk froth, worth the $3.6 and the long walk i say.

campos has quickly become a bit of a coffee mecca in sydney. having a queue at your door at 7am opening is a sign that things are going well!
