went recently for dinner.

tom khai creamy soup - ample veggies / mildly spicy - 4/5

szchewan veg fried rice - oily (even after asking for less oil + spicy) - 3/5

red curry - ample veggies - not great - not bad - 3.5/5

sanitization of tables were done but all service staff were wearing gloves.

price: definitely on the pricier side for the number of items ordered.

best thai joint in chennai! second to none. biggest fan boy of their gai hor bai toey. tad pricey for the quantity they provide!

i love the food there but just feel it’s pretty pricey so can’t go regularly! good for occasions!
also feel that it’s a place that’s stood the same throughout the years. a little bit of decor and lighting change will help.

best place for thai food lovers. each and every dish i had from this place was absolutely delicious. from preparation to presentation everything was perfect. both veg and non veg were equally good. service was good and ambiance was pleasant. it's a kind of high budget place but it's worth trying.

with its more relaxed vibe and quiet location in alwarpet, benjarong makes for a nice hideout to chill and have good thai food. benjarong prides itself on not using msg in any of their dishes and aims to serve authentic thai food, so you may find some dishes that you haven't seen in other thai restaurants. when the thai cravings come knocking, head down to benjarong for excellent tom yum soup, great thai green curry and spot-on service.

get your appetite going with the som tum, a green papaya salad tossed in a zesty, spicy, savoury dressing and topped with peanuts to provide crunch in mouth. you might find yourself munching it all up before you even realise.

you can't and won't go wrong ordering the classic tom yum goong soup - rich, spicy & flavourful prawn & mushroom broth, tender juicy prawn, sliced mushroom, fresh kaffir lime leaves and crushed red chili peppers. the tom yum goong soup here is tangy yet subtly sweet, and will kick your butt with its spiciness.

if you need a drink to quell the spiciness, their thai summer cooler will do the trick.
gai hor bai toey is a crowd pleaser as well, essentially a thai-style pandan wrapped chicken - juicy and packed with meat. put it your mouth, and wait for the party to begin; the flavours and textures are pretty damn amazing.

get the goong tod prik thai, which are deep fried, crusty, bite-sized, juicy prawn meat, paired with sweet chilli dipping sauce. the prawns are marinated properly in special aromatic spices, deep fried, massive, topped with tender green peppercorns, and not for the faint hearted.

do yourself a favour and get the steamed seabass in chilli lime. the pla nueng manow is fresh and steamed to perfection, and the gravy taste sour, spicy and salty, this is one feisty fish. it doesn't look like much, but the slow cooking packs in the moisture so you get soft, fresh fish that's perfectly cooked.

finally order the thai green curry with jasmine rice; the combination goes surprisingly well. the green curry chicken is aromatic and pleasantly lighter, so you can pair it with jasmine rice without feeling sick. the thai green curry is creamy & flavourful and goes exceedingly well with the accompanying thai jasmine rice.

after reading all these reviews, i was excited about having authentic thai food over here despite the fact of knowing 2000 for two person which is costly for middle class to afford like me. still i don't want to compromise the authentic taste of thai somewhere.

ambience was more than okayish, as we all know that we wouldn't know or understand the menu.
to either.

i wanted them to suggest us some signature dishes of their own and the .. going to the main course, the wrong oiecision i took for my lifetime. only curries are available, we need to order rice seperately, that's how i was told.
she suggested green thai curry for veg and something related to were two types of rice's, jasmine and steamed. i wanted to t
ry both so i said give a both. steamed rice was so bad, which was so soaky and wattery.
i wasn't much impressed with the curries either. first few mouth is good after that we can't have it fully as taste fades away.

ps : don't go for rice items in any of the cuisines, try out different dishes which they have failed to inform us.
so that's why my stars goes from 4 to 3 here.

ambience - 3.5/5
quality and quantity - 3/5
price - 2.5/5

it's too much freaking costly.
bill was 2600 ₹
