the ambience was excellent with apt lighting, soothing music and comfortable seating. the staff at the restaurant were genuine and courteous. as soon as we took our table, a pallette cleanser was served. how should this be eaten?. first, take a large spinach leaf then add a generous amount of groundnuts, coconut shavings and onions for the crunch, then add in some chillies and ginger for the spice, then a small piece of lime for the tang. finally, add a full spoon of the sweet sauce evenly on top of the other ingredients, fold the spinach leaf and eat it.

authentic thai food. you will know the difference from the aroma and taste that your palate does not recognise if you have not had before.
ambience and service is really good.
had grilled fish (made with basa) which was good.
the chicken starter wrapped in some leaf was too good. the consistency was delicate and cooked well.
the fried rice serves upto 4 people, not really expensive considering the quantity although the other dishes are priced on the higher side.
also should have the burnt ice cream which has a coconut layered outer crust.

great food and service. special shout out to mr velmurugan for taking good care of us. we tried the duck, red snapper (not part of menu), lotus stem, tofu satay and a stir fried vegetable dish along with lychee mohito and a coconut water mock tail. all dishes were very good

benjarong is like a piece of se asia in our own backyard. the food was excellent. roughly translated: we had pandan chicken, chilli basil fried rice, litchi mojito. the prawn based fried rice was the best. it tasted like a cross between briyani and fried rice. the food was absolutely brilliant.
service can be a little faster though. and the cost is a little high as well.

cost 1000 for 2 despite zomato gold..easily 1600 bucks otherwise

the place was on my bucket list since a long time..so finally went 4 lunch along with friends..the starters esp the non-veg was awesome..the fish was so nice that it melted it the mouth..the main course was also gd..loved their chestnut dessert..will surely visit this place again with family

indeed one of the best thai experiences i ever had. the decor and sitting is minimal kinds but the food is not at all!
we ordered a prawn starter, chicken starter and pad thai noodles and yellow thai curry. everything was top notch in taste. every meat had a distinct and succulent taste, and there was nothing i could point out as missing. the highlight was the dessert, tub tim krob, which i had in another thai restaurant. if you go to this place, you have to have this dessert once. overall, it's a little expensive affair but it's worth it!

decent spread for the price. service could have been better. wish they had revived their set menu. would revisit for their amazing soup. 😀 and their vegetarian spread is als good

we have been going to this place ever since it first opened. for many years, it was chennai’s authentic thai good restaurant. however, for the past couple of years, the food is not authentic. in fact,it is steadily going downhill. today, we had again been there for lunch and ordered set meals. first, we noticed that the prices have all been raised. the tom yum soup with prawns was insipid . there was only two prawns and some small mushrooms. no galangal or bamboo shoots or even the lime leaves. next came the noodles. not bad but certainly not of the high standard that benjorong had itself set. the fish preparation was fine though there was nothing thai about that. the chicken in pandalan leaves was again very ordinary. the red curry was like our sambar. all in all, i don’t think i will be going to this restaurant in future.

glorious days are gone...there was a time we were addicted to this place. they have come down from great to somewhat good. prices are very steep. richness in food is missing. i personally feel they should do something to get it back.

we had food home delivered after long from benjarong it was such a disappointment.
vegetables in basil sauce - horrible
vegetable soft noodles - tasteless with hardly any veggies
spring roll - hard and chewy
veg fried rice - tasteless
i think the 3 non veg dishes ( chicken in red curry , crispy lamb and prawn fried rice ) were better than the vegetarian fare .

5 starts undoubtedly!! compact and cozy. very friendly and attentive staff. food was amazingly tasty. their signature chicken starter (which is wrapped in a leaf and served) is exquisite. didn't try much main course options. the grilled fish is a must try. ambience was good and was lucky to meet 2 celebrities there. would definitely recommend :)

visited benjarong for a family dinner. good ambience and comfortable seating. reservations are useful on weekends. tried the tom yum soup. it had coconut cream and was delicious. the crispy fried corn in rice tartlets was delicious. the sea food platter had squid , fish and prawns. all three were good. there was papaya salad accompanying it. thai red curry with rice was filling and medium spiced. the portions were large. glass noodles was good but too sweet for my liking. didn't try the desserts. the price is slightly on the expensive side.

the garlic prawn starter was yummy we asked them to make it spicy and they did
.the fried rice was tooo good.

a tad expensive but still worth it for the service and food. thai food is absolutely delightful. don't know if it is the cuisine itself or benjarong that is extra good. here the quality of the ingredients and preparation are top-notch. the warm and mild lemongrass tea is so soothing to sip with the food.
