i have been postponing this review for a long time. so here it goes.
i have been to this place many times and it doesn't disappoint u. every time i go it makes me come again and again. i love thai food and this is the best restaurant in chennai to serve thai food. start off with the tradition of thai by mixing in all in the leaf and tuck it in your mouth. the tom yum soup is the best way to start things. it's not the best but good and punched in flavour. for starters try the chicken wrapped in pandarus leaf, raw papaya salad and the crispy lamb in chilli and tender peppercorn it's worth the cost. i wouldn't recommend the satay because i ate itbenjarongdubai and it was way better.for the mains u can go for either a green curry and a jasmine rice which is really good here or go for a pan fried rice with a steamed fish or a crab, both of them are my favorite. i have not tried any deserts here because of french loaf. so overall a great authentic thai food awaits u. a must try for asian food lovers. it's a expensive outlet but it's all worth it. the service is neat and quick. the ambience sings thailand. i feel that the menu can be altered with something new. 👍😀

i had the set lunch inbenjarongyesterday. it wasn't the first time i've had it, maybe even the 30th time! the set meal is perfect. you get a starter, soup, a drink, spring rolls, steamed chicken wrapped in bamboo leaf, green curry and rice, delicious noodles cooked in sesame oil and a dessert.
it is extremely filling and i have never been able to finish it no matter how hungry i have been. the food is lip-smacking and i would recommend the set meal though it's pricy.. around 750₹ after tax. the ambience is pleasant and they serve a very good lemon green tea through meal.
this place has the best thai food you can find in chennai according to me!! go for it!

dear teambenjarongthe only reason we are giving you three star is your menu is insanely pricey no doubt the food is very good. last week i came with my wife we ordered 1 soup 1 jasmine rice and one green curry and we paid 1650/-. we give 10 star for your food. if two people have to have starter soup main course and dessert i think we'll end up spending 5000. please reduce your prices your food is excellent

visitedbenjarongfor lunch.. the crispy tenderloin starter was very good... expected more from the thai green curry with chicken and pea aubergine.... it was very watery... not enough flavour of coconut milk... it was very average... the hostess i guess was serving every table genuinely... she also poured us lemongrass tea.... portions are large.. one portion is good for two...

i love this place. the quaint interiors, large, shareable portions and prompt service keep bringing me back. centrally located, benjarongis my go-to spot for thai food in the city.  i would suggest asking the staff to recommend house favorites. i particularly like the corn balls in rice tartlets. skip the not-so-great desserts and gorge away on the starters and main course. the aromatic digestive tea made me even hungrier. but my favorite thing aboutbenjaronghas to be the fact that they let me order a plate of sushi from teppan upstairs. can't get better than this! all in all, a fabulous place for pan-asian cuisine.

with its more relaxed vibe and quiet location in alwarpet, benjarongmakes for a nice hideout to chill and have good thai food.benjarongprides itself on not using msg in any of their dishes and aims to serve authentic thai food, so you may find some dishes that you haven't seen in other thai restaurants. when the thai cravings come knocking, head down tobenjarongfor excellent tom yum soup, great thai green curry and spot-on service.

get your appetite going with the som tum, a green papaya salad tossed in a zesty, spicy, savoury dressing and topped with peanuts to provide crunch in mouth. you might find yourself munching it all up before you even realise.

you can't and won't go wrong ordering the classic tom yum goong soup - rich, spicy & flavourful prawn & mushroom broth, tender juicy prawn, sliced mushroom, fresh kaffir lime leaves and crushed red chili peppers. the tom yum goong soup here is tangy yet subtly sweet, and will kick your butt with its spiciness.

if you need a drink to quell the spiciness, their thai summer cooler will do the trick.
gai hor bai toey is a crowd pleaser as well, essentially a thai-style pandan wrapped chicken - juicy and packed with meat. put it your mouth, and wait for the party to begin; the flavours and textures are pretty damn amazing.

get the goong tod prik thai, which are deep fried, crusty, bite-sized, juicy prawn meat, paired with sweet chilli dipping sauce. the prawns are marinated properly in special aromatic spices, deep fried, massive, topped with tender green peppercorns, and not for the faint hearted.

do yourself a favour and get the steamed seabass in chilli lime. the pla nueng manow is fresh and steamed to perfection, and the gravy taste sour, spicy and salty, this is one feisty fish. it doesn't look like much, but the slow cooking packs in the moisture so you get soft, fresh fish that's perfectly cooked.

finally order the thai green curry with jasmine rice; the combination goes surprisingly well. the green curry chicken is aromatic and pleasantly lighter, so you can pair it with jasmine rice without feeling sick. the thai green curry is creamy & flavourful and goes exceedingly well with the accompanying thai jasmine rice.

we were searching for the thai restaurant we visited in 2013. after scouting mylapore for quite some time we decided to ask google andbenjarongwas the first suggestion with a 4.4/5 rating. the ambience did not disappoint us all i wanted was my tom yong soup. let me tell you this, tom yong soup was good, sathey was okay, green mango salad (yum mamung) was delicious, spring rolls (poh pia je) was average, veg stir fried noodles (bamee pah) was really nice, shredded tenderloin fried in black bean sauce was the best. they make their own coconut ice creams as well. the only drawback would be the washroom. they lack a separate hand wash. water is too salty to rinse your mouth. though i wanted to savour the taste of dishes, salty water at the hand wash ruined it all.

great food but extremely pricey. the total delay in service and the non justifiable portions are a proper deal breaker for me. extremely dissatisfied and disappointed, i’ve been to other fine dining restaurants but haven’t walked our still feeling a bit hungry. this was the first and regretfully my last visit tobenjarong😞

went to this place few days back with my husband who told me that the place was having vietnamese food festival. i have been tobenjarongin kolkata (south city mall) and too be honest, it was not a very big deal as the food was not very extra ordinary. i didn’t have high hopes from this place either. when we reached this place, the place looked very much asian themed with those chinese dragon and porcelain statues. the look of the restaurant was very different to what i had seen in kolkata as that place was very modern. we were seated by the staffs who were polite and humble. then comes the menu which has two menu’s. one was there authentic thai cuisine and the other was the vietnamese menu which they made as the festival was going on. we chose the vietnamese menu and went through the pages. the executive chef of the resturant mr. ram happened to be my husband’s friend and batch mate helped us with the dishes we should try. i waited and they chatted. after 10-15mins the food arrives and voila - the presentation was brilliant and the food tasted out of this world. trust me, i had never seen nor tasted vietnamese food like this. i could feel each and every item taste so different from one another and the freshness of the food, packed with flavours beyond your imagination. do go before there festival ends. it’s a must try !

we had food home delivered after long frombenjarongit was such a disappointment.
vegetables in basil sauce - horrible
vegetable soft noodles - tasteless with hardly any veggies
spring roll - hard and chewy
veg fried rice - tasteless
i think the 3 non veg dishes ( chicken in red curry , crispy lamb and prawn fried rice ) were better than the vegetarian fare .

visitedbenjarongfor a family dinner. good ambience and comfortable seating. reservations are useful on weekends. tried the tom yum soup. it had coconut cream and was delicious. the crispy fried corn in rice tartlets was delicious. the sea food platter had squid , fish and prawns. all three were good. there was papaya salad accompanying it. thai red curry with rice was filling and medium spiced. the portions were large. glass noodles was good but too sweet for my liking. didn't try the desserts. the price is slightly on the expensive side.
