i am coming back here after a long time and the place looks quite the same, staff are courteous and some of the signature dishes like the pandas leafchickenwas pretty good! but the other dishes we ordered were not up to the mark! especially the soup was a bit too sour!

benjarong is one place where the service and the food will remain in your mind for a long, long time.
we were welcomed by the courteous staff and ordered the gai hor baitaey, pla nung manow, chickenkhao pahd and guaytiew pahd.

the gai hor baitaey was exceptional. although just four pieces, the tender, succulentchickenwith just the right amount of that smoky flavour comes wrapped in a leaf packed with a flavourful juice. one of the most remarkable dishes i've had in a while.

the pla nung manow (although it was a main course dish, we feasted on it as a starter) is absolutely lovely. it's flavours are subtle yet beautifully bursts in your mouth. four exceptionally soft fillets of fish are laid on a bed of lemongrass, topped with a sauce that is sweet and sour, seasoned with chilli flakes. it's the very definition of delicious comfort food.

on to the main course, thechickenkhao pahd was a lightly flavouredchickenfried rice that works well for those who prefer to go light on the tummy, and has just the right amount of spice and tang.

guaytiew pahd was a dish consisting of flat noodles tossed with seafood - prawns, squid and fish - and has the flavours of sesame and a good spicy twist. although a little chewy, it can be overlooked for its good quantity and taste.

the complimentary lemongrass tea was just the perfect end to a lovely, wholesome meal at benjarong.

i have been postponing this review for a long time. so here it goes.
i have been to this place many times and it doesn't disappoint u. every time i go it makes me come again and again. i love thai food and this is the best restaurant in chennai to serve thai food. start off with the tradition of thai by mixing in all in the leaf and tuck it in your mouth. the tom yum soup is the best way to start things. it's not the best but good and punched in flavour. for starters try thechickenwrapped in pandarus leaf, raw papaya salad and the crispy lamb in chilli and tender peppercorn it's worth the cost. i wouldn't recommend the satay because i ate it benjarong dubai and it was way better.for the mains u can go for either a green curry and a jasmine rice which is really good here or go for a pan fried rice with a steamed fish or a crab, both of them are my favorite. i have not tried any deserts here because of french loaf. so overall a great authentic thai food awaits u. a must try for asian food lovers. it's a expensive outlet but it's all worth it. the service is neat and quick. the ambience sings thailand. i feel that the menu can be altered with something new. 👍😀

i had the set lunch in benjarong yesterday. it wasn't the first time i've had it, maybe even the 30th time! the set meal is perfect. you get a starter, soup, a drink, spring rolls, steamedchickenwrapped in bamboo leaf, green curry and rice, delicious noodles cooked in sesame oil and a dessert.
it is extremely filling and i have never been able to finish it no matter how hungry i have been. the food is lip-smacking and i would recommend the set meal though it's pricy.. around 750₹ after tax. the ambience is pleasant and they serve a very good lemon green tea through meal.
this place has the best thai food you can find in chennai according to me!! go for it!

ambience : 4.0
food : 4.0
must try green currychickenand satay.
their pad thai is also impressive
i never had a crib about the quality but quantity is usually very less for my appetite.
they dont have to be gourmet gourmet on the quantity. always end up ordering a portion of steamed rice just for that extra 2 spoons that would have given me complete satisfaction.

visited for lunch. good ambience and maintained cleanly. had tom khachickensoup which was flavourful. the thai red curry and rice were a disappointment ( normally one would expect this to be the best as it is the most popular thai dish in india). it was low on flavour and thechickenseemed poorly done. the jasmine rice lacked the aroma for which its famous. the service was good.

visited benjarong for lunch.. the crispy tenderloin starter was very good... expected more from the thai green curry withchickenand pea aubergine.... it was very watery... not enough flavour of coconut milk... it was very average... the hostess i guess was serving every table genuinely... she also poured us lemongrass tea.... portions are large.. one portion is good for two...

we were a group of 4.
soup:tom yum seafood soup..the soup had enough quantity of prawn in it.👍
starters: thechickenstarter was okay and the spring roll was good but the sauce which accompanied it lacked spice in my opinion.
main course:the thai green currychickenwas good.👍the fried rice and the fish curry had mild flavors was okay.
benjarong’s service never disappoints me and they serve an appetizer is the beginning and tea throughout your meal when i have seen other restaurants charging for it.👍that’s a big yay👏🏽

great place for a quick thai getaway. had their famous pandanchickenwhich was absolutely top notch. the veg andchickenpad thais did not disappoint. good portion sizes and value for money. the staff was extremely courteous and even offered pandan tofu to my vegetarian mother! the tub tim grob was just yum and to die for. we had the rose lychee icecream which was sumptuous as well. lovely, intimate ambiance, great service and a great experience overall! would visit again for sure.

still the best thai food in chennai but lots of corners are being cut. portion sizes have changed, authentic ingredients are being substituted and even their unfailable pandan friedchickenhas half-cooked marinade on it (probably no more coal oven). hope they keep the green curry flag flying - it’s the best i’ve ever had, outside of thailand.

thai food at its best. we went some years back. we ordered a set menu they had then. the bassa fish fillets were amazing and so was thechickenwrapped in pandan leaves. only the dessert made from chestnut fruits was a bit odd. now the menus may have changed post-covid, but definitely the place will always be an adventurous experience for foodies!
