thai food. there's more to thai food than just phad thai and no one shows you that better than benjarong in chennai. beautifully done up place with the quintessential thai royal mirror at your first sight. 10 points for the ambience definitely! the somph platter is replaced with betel leaves and an assortment of salted groundnuts, tamarind sauce, roasted coconut and condiments. - make your own paan style. we had the thai cooler watermelon and citrus drink and my friend tried out the chicken satay- somewhat like our tikkas and kebabs. she said it was good. don't ask me. aachaaramaana brahmana paiyyan i am. :p and the last but not the least however the most disappointing was the chocolate mousse dessert. served in a very small cup, it made us frown about the vfm-ness of the place. quite overpriced. just three dishes and 1000 bucks. and i'm talking about just a drink, an appetiser and a dessert. at the end of the day commendable service. we were spared of the embarrassing act of asking someone to take a picture of the three of us as one of the maitre d's was quick to offer to take a picture of us. pleasant experience if you have hot cash :) - madhu mitha and shivani ramachandran
