anthony's restaurant and fish bar

we shared an appetizer of the pan fried oysters, which were creamy and lightly fried in a tempura like batter. we also shared a bowl of clamchowderthat had surprising bits of real bacon in it with red skin potatoes.

seafood... need i say anymore? i will, so first the downside it's in an airport, so it is expensive. now the upside, it's seafood. setting at the bar, service was quick and staff very friendly. the clamchowderwas great as was the deep fried oysters. it's worth the stop, it's good seafood stop and try it.

after a long flight, and not having breakfast or lunch, we were very hungry and saw this establishment in sea-tac.  we were really excited to give it a try, and ordered their salmon taco special they were having.  it was $9.99+ tax and it came with clam chowder, chips, and salsa.  the salmon was grilled, but had no flavor, especially against the large amount of coleslaw.  the clamchowderwas my favorite part of everything, but it still tasted like it came from a can...  the salsa tasted like it was from a jar, and the chips were very, very stale.  at least i had good company with me!

it's in an airport, so expectations aren't high. you figure if anthony's is going to put their name on it, it should be good, right? wrong! overwhelmed on a normal weeknight, the staff was working hard. the clamchowderarrived and i think the cream broke, there were little white dots in it and is had a slightly sour taste...fine wa wine was served at $11+ per glass, in a highball glass because the wine glasses were dirty. the fish tacos are bland, and the corn tortillas i asked for were dried out and crumbly...a terrible experience i won't repeat.

4/5 pretty good prices for the airport. the night view from the super tall ceiling to ground windows are impeccable . watch airplanes take off and come home. clamchowder[tasty!] salmon fish and chips [super tasty! the fries were awesome] some kind of salad, it was meh. comparably more healthy and less delicious. we waited for ages for the food to come which was a nuisance.  there's actually a fish and chips bar on the right of the entrance of the restaurant. i think it's a little cheaper.  overall it was pretty great dinner at the airport. i enjoyed it. angel

now this is airport food!. as the table next to me was leaving one said "that's the best airport food i've ever had!" i agreed as soon as mine was done. it started out with slow service and i saw two other tables anxious for their bill, but i had at least an hour to kill. thechowderbread bowl and caesar salad was the perfect simple ending to a long day. there was the usual great variety i know to expect from anthony's but i didn't indulge this time. thechowdertasted freshmade, not reconstituted like you find at an ivar's walk-up bar. the restaurant is bigger than it looks from the entry. a seat along the glass wall at the back is quiet and unique, i haven't seen this in other airport restaurants. highly recommended!

not good compared to ivar's which is about 50 m away. if i were you i'd just hop over to ivar's. when i was at the airport, i was puzzled by these two competing fish bars so i actually went to both and ordered the same thing. ivar's is much better with the clamchowderand the fish actually tasted better. the batter at ivar's is not the same as anthony's but it is still better. anthony's batter is the kind where it separates from the fish very easily and you can just eat the batter and the fish separately whereas ivar's batter is more attached to the fish and is more rough in nature. this is still not a bad place considering seattle has some awesome fish and chips compared to where i'm from, but i'd just go to ivar's if you don't mind the fast food experience. the anthony's i went to was also the take-out section so i'm comparing like-to-like.

fresh and fast. i fly through seatac regularly, and always try to leave 30 minutes for the fish tacos at anthony's . fresh, light and delicious. that said, i really don't like thechowder- very heavy flour thickened sauce and tasteless rubbery fish. it's amazing these come from the same kitchen.
good selection of beers and, with the exception of one recent visit, service is quick and efficient - just what you need before your next flight.

the only real option at sea-tac. i only eat dinner at anthony's when i'm flying out of seattle. the fish tacos, thechowderand the calamari are all favorites; most of the other fresh fish specials are safe too (although i avoid the tuna). i usually just sit at the bar -- i never have to wait, the full menu is available and the pours are never short.
