rude, discorteous waiter.. food is ok, nothing extraordinary tough. this was my first and last time here. one of the waiters, a mexican guy, was rude, impolite, bad mannered and discourteous. i reported this immediately to a manager and they substituted this piece of trash with a more capable person, however, i wouldn't ever go again.

i don't recommend it to anybody. there are lots of better restaurants with much more better service. i'd like to repeat: don"t go.

p.s. limes were dry.. uggghh!

even the martians didn't care for this poor excuse for texmex. today for lunch.

martians landed in our back yard and we decided to take them to a mexican restaurant.

the leader's name was gorp and he had heard great things about "our" texmex. i told them i was not excited with this place but they had heard good things - i had gone there a few years back.

he ordered the jose plate - the enchiladas were tough and the beef fajita was average; gorp said it tasted like "brokjabaraia" - which in english stands for garbage you get from the frozen section of the local "martianmart."

he couldn't believe that people called this mexican food - they're trip to the southern peninsula of mexico was way better.

further, he couldn't believe how easy people were in san antonio in accepting this cuisine as authentic quality fare.

i couldn't agree more. i sure hope san antonio has more to offer. incidentally, they had stopped at a local taco cabana while fueling up 3 years ago - and this was no better at twice the price.

service was poor - unfriendly imo.

so, to all you intergalactic travelers? don't bother stopping at aldaco's.

average - at best. went today for lunch.
the person who seats you didn't even try to smile - he was tedious - tho not unfriendly.
we both had a luncheon special #5 - cheese enchiladas and a beef fajita.
i swear - i think a frozen meal from heb would've been just as good.
beef in the fajita was tough. service was adequate.
will not go back - not worth the time or energy.
can't recommend.

fish was fishy. me and a friend went to aldacos for lunch because of how good they we're suppose to be, but after ordering the fish tacos i was extremely disappointed , from the first bite i couldn't take a second . the tortilla tasted as if it was made from stale old oil that was reused several time over . when i asked about getting something else the waiter was kind enough to have me select a different dish . the second dish i ordered was the half chicken which was ok. not what i expected expected especially for the price. what was even more upsetting was that by the time they brought my second dish my friend had already finished her meal so i had to hurry up and eat alone . any time i eat at a restraunt i rarely finish my food but at this restraunt i left still hungry.... the only positive thing i have to say is the view is beautiful and the alvarado margarita was absolutely delious!!!! so if your not to hungry but what somewhere that has a great view and have a drink this is the only reason to come here.

poor service. as the title says the service was one of the worst i've ever experienced. food was ok and to me a little over priced but the places was extremely noisy. on top of that had a waitress that spent more time hiding then serving. will not recommend or return. oh and the avocado margarita sucked

sub par for price. the gals at the hostess stand are great but that's about where great ended. as a frequent business traveller i am accustomed to wait times but not once seated. we were seated outside and after 20 minutes of wait staff running around finally asked one who was going to wait on us. a party of 2 can be lucrative if handled well. last night that wasn't happening. i took a day before reviewing to attempt to find more good than the hostess staff but alas, no go. food was bland and greasy and while plate was hot food not so much. chips were cold and stale as well. i had enchiladas and the sauce was nothing to write home about. husband had puffy tacos and was as boring as taco cabana. margeritas were ok but not worth 9$. went to del fuego tonight - way way way better. taste, service, price points similar. skip aldaco and head to del fuego if you only have a few nights to experience good tex mex!

great casual dining. we were in san antonio for a convention and wanted to get away for an evening. the concierge at the jw marriott suggested aldaco's and we were thrilled with the suggestion. some in our party ordered the fajitas and others order the enchiladas and everyone was happy. we had a great server and even better meal. thank you!

on wed jan 22nd ordered a tres leeches cake & made dinner reservations for my wife's birthday friday night. the cake was a surprise for desert & to take home for weekend company. when arriving for the reservation, the host asked my wife, "are you here to pick up your cake?" what an idiot. i told him yes later after dinner, since the surprise part was over. dinner was very tex - mex
average. hoped to receive chicken monterrey. a roasted chicken breast smothered in jack cheese peppers, tomatoes, & avacodoes. instead sysco
processed chicken fillets with no flavor and watery cheese over the top. very disappointing. also a large table in the corner with at least six children screaming, running, and yelling toddlers whos parents undoubtably thought they were cute, as they disrupted everyone else's
dinners. .
at least our waiter was good & margaritas were good.

top-notch mexican food. the overall rating is surprisingly low.

in a city overflowing with mexican restaurants, aldaco's is one of the best. in the stone oak area, it is my favorite upscale mexican eatery. we have eaten here at least 20 times, so this is based on our overall experience. ambiance is upscale but comfortable and not snooty or stuffy. ample indoor seating. weather permitting, there is a large deck with a great view of san antonio. a newly added tarp keeps the elements at bay. the staff are always prompt, attentive, and friendly. service speed varies, but is reasonably fast. chips (yeah, i'm talking chips!) are thick, fresh, and crunchy. they don't taste like typical nasty bag chips you get at most places. salsas are awesome. the food consistently arrives nicely presented, piping hot, fresh and tasty. the best thing about aldaco's, for me, is their list of top-notch margaritas. they've won several awards and we've tried them all. sure, you have ask for a cheapy house margarita made from mix, but we're top-shelfers and have tried just about every margarita in town. these are easily amongst the best. you can taste the qualify of the tequila and the fresh ingredients. no fake sugary flavors here. yum! if you're into desserts (seriously, how often do you have room left for dessert after eating mexican), the few times we've tried them they've been dee-lish. the only negative is that their prices a bit steep, but not out of line given the location.

overall: excellent

highly recommended!

excellent food (selection and quality). great patio view too; chips and roasted garlic salsa is possibly the best in the city; staff provides great service; the owner, blanca aldaco, is usually on-site, greeting the customers and making sure that everyone has a great dining experience; bar service is great... they make "world class" margaritas and bloody mary's; like la fonda, mi tierra, los barrios, casa rio and jacala, aldaco's is a great "destination" mexican restaurant. it is definitely worth driving a few extra miles to the far northside of town for the experience. reasonably priced too! enjoy!

we really enjoy aldaco's! the shrimp wrapped in bacon is heavenly! beautiful view from the patio

delicious food, great service and fabulous patio! too hard to visit in larger groups inside, bc it's so noisy on busy night.

update: sadly, i have to say that the service has declined significantly in the last few months. the food is still delicious, the ambiance great and view at night is beautiful. i've been two days in a row, once for supper and once for lunch. both times, the servers were slow to bring water, slow to bring other drinks and even slower to take our orders. neither time was busy since supper was at 8:00, mid-week and lunch was after the noon-time rush. also, both times someone had to get up and go track down someone to get our server so that we could pay. we've never had friendly service, but, in the past, the service was, at least, efficient. not so, anymore. i hope that blanca can be more available to supervise and train her employees and make the necessary improvements.

pleasantly surprised. i ordered the enchiladas verdes and was so glad the sauce was not too cheesy or creamy. it had the perfect amount of tomatillo sauce. rice was a bit dry, but nonetheless enjoyed my dinner. staff was welcoming and pleasant. btw definitely coming back to enjoy the wonderful and romantic view of sa.

pecked by the beak of the rooster. when you arrive here, you will first notice that the restaurant location is high on a hill and has some sweeping views particularly from the outdoor patio. cool! . . . or it can be with prevailing breezes from the sse. inside you will find the modern architecture eye pleasing with graceful curves and sparkling pendant lights. the ear is another matter. hard concrete floors make for easy clean-up, but raise the decibel level 15 or so marks when there is a crowd. and there was a crowd when we went. i shouted across the table to one of our dinner companions and it sounded like normal speech given the surrounding cacophony.

service lagged after we we were seated. however, an enterprising young waiter noticed our plight and sallied forth to serve though our table was out of his area. through most of our lunch, the waiter jack-rabbited in and out with our requests and in serving the requested items. he told us his name was chris. however, it could easily have been mario (as in andretti) as he accelerated through the restaurant careening through tables and turns, slimly avoiding diners and other waiters to speedily service our food and drink needs.

appetizers of queso and bean & cheese nachos were rather unremarkable. the refrieds on the nachos were bland and the cheese sprinkler must have had an unsteady hand from over-consumption the night before as half of the chips were only half covered with cheese. several of us selected the jose special which consisted of two average tasting white cheese filled enchiladas with gravy and a nicely grilled, well seasoned, beef fajita taco, clumpy rice and good bacony frijoles a la charra. another diner had the cheese filled chile relleno which she said was a little small and that the ranchera tasted like unadulterated tomato sauce.

as part of the order, my wife decided to substitute a beef enchilada for one of her cheese and i asked for some pico de gallo to accompany my fajita taco. unfortunately this just happens to be one of those "sneaky, penny-pinching" restaurants. the kind that is accommodating to most requests, but fails to mention that the request will impact the check's bottom line. it's not the amount, it's the principal and the courtesy (or lack of it) of divulging these "little secrets" at the time of order and giving the diner the election to approve or disapprove the charge. we had also ordered 4 rounds of drinks. so it is not as if they were not going to make a nice profit from our group (a happy hour price quote on our drinks is another matter which i will not go into here). $1.00 for a tiny cup of pico and $2.49 to substitute a beef for a cheese enchilada . . . .really!?!?!?!

above average prices for average tex-mex, nice ambiance but noisy with a crowd, lickety-split service, and a need to develop some integrity and respect for the customer is my one sentence review and "recommendation" for aldaco's.

gustavia's 90th birthday party. just wanted you to know that blanca and her staff was wonderful, accommodating, friendly with excellent service. the food delicious. my mom's 100+ guests were delighted and enjoyed it to the upmost. what a great choice my daughters and i made in selecting this venue.

we recommend it highly for just a dinner for one or one hundred.
