aldaco's mexican cuisine

we like aldaco's and come here often. it seems that since the one at the dominion opened the quality has slipped a bit. the chips taste like the ones you get in the huge bags at heb. i used to slways remark about how good the chips were. no more. our meal today was just so-so. makes me sad. hope blanca comes to the rescue here & brings it back to the excellentplaceit was even one year ago.

impressed! i hadn't been in a hurry to try thisplacesince in san antonio we don't necessarily equate the stone oak area with good, authentic mexican food. but since my parents were in town celebrating my mom's birthday, having read great reviews, and the restaurant being recently added to my airline dining program, i decided to give them a shot. i'm very glad we did! excellent service, excellent food, and we even got a table visit from the owner after our meal. absolutely wonderful birthday meal. my favorites were the grilled panela and zucchini from the centerpiece plate, the marinated steak on the arracheta plate and the borracho beans were all very delicious. i would definitely recommend thisplaceto others and will be back. my only complaint was the noise level, it was very very loud, hard to have a conversation, but perhaps a few carpets would help the acoustics aspect.  when it warms up a bit, i'm looking forward to having a meal on the patio and take advantage of the great view! well done aldaco's, see you soon!

i love this restaurant, the staff is very attentive and fast. nice ambiance and beautiful view. they have a gluten free menu and every first wednesday more gluten free options available. a very niceplacefor happy hour and dinner.

first time here on a humid thursday night. nice decor with beautiful hilltop view. our party of five adults were seated immediately and the waiter came for our drink orders. large menu, bar very busy. noisyplacewith cement floors and high industrial ceiling. we ordered queso and fried jalapeño poppers for appetizers. chips are thick, tasteless, cold and non-greasy. salsa is chipotle spicey but good. queso is melted velveeta with a few chiles. we gave our food orders after waiting 30 minutes, our waiter kept disappearing for long periods of time. when entrees finally came they were just ok, nothing special. chicken fajitas were cold and bland with a strange slimy guacamole and unseasoned barracho beans. cheese enchiladas and beef tacos were forgettable, no salt or seasoning. refried beans and rice were good; soup was hot and fresh with chunks of chicken and vegetables. sopaipillas were excellent, fresh and crisp, served with honey and whipped cream.

service was just bad---waited 30 more minutes and finally flagged down another waiter (not ours) to take our dessert order. ridiculous!

we may go back for the sopaipillas and the view, but not for the mediocre food and absent service.

even the martians didn't care for this poor excuse for texmex. today for lunch.

martians landed in our back yard and we decided to take them to a mexican restaurant.

the leader's name was gorp and he had heard great things about "our" texmex. i told them i was not excited with thisplacebut they had heard good things - i had gone there a few years back.

he ordered the jose plate - the enchiladas were tough and the beef fajita was average; gorp said it tasted like "brokjabaraia" - which in english stands for garbage you get from the frozen section of the local "martianmart."

he couldn't believe that people called this mexican food - they're trip to the southern peninsula of mexico was way better.

further, he couldn't believe how easy people were in san antonio in accepting this cuisine as authentic quality fare.

i couldn't agree more. i sure hope san antonio has more to offer. incidentally, they had stopped at a local taco cabana while fueling up 3 years ago - and this was no better at twice the price.

service was poor - unfriendly imo.

so, to all you intergalactic travelers? don't bother stopping at aldaco's.

average - at best. went today for lunch.
the person who seats you didn't even try to smile - he was tedious - tho not unfriendly.
we both had a luncheon special #5 - cheese enchiladas and a beef fajita.
i swear - i think a frozen meal from heb would've been just as good.
beef in the fajita was tough. service was adequate.
will not go back - not worth the time or energy.
can't recommend.

a great patio and food!. for anyone looking for good mexican food and a great patio......aldacos stone oak is theplaceto go. the owners are wonderful people and the service is great. i have my favorites but the centerpiece is fantastic! margaritas of any kind are good here. love it!

disappointed. really bummed thisplacedidn't work out. i came on a saturday night with my sister. first probelm--not only were we seated in the most awkard of places but how to table was arranged for two people had me on top of a werid piece of art. our waitress was okay but kept forgetting what we ordered and said the system was down and this was the reason why our drinks hadn't come out yet. when i got my food, it wasn't what i ordered and was too hungry to agrue and send it back. last thing-- my bill was $55 dollars. this came from two domestic beers and two orders of chicken tacos (that were small and not special). rip off and will not be going back.

thisplaceshould be kicked out of san antonio for its sad excuse for guacamole and queso. the queso was just melted velveta with no spice or anything and they went cheap on the guac by mixing in a copious amount of sour cream or some other filler. the chips are the thick kind, which some may like, but i prefer thin and crispy. we also tried several margaritas, all of which were weak and overpriced. the service at the bar was terrible. at 4 o'clock on a saturday my 2 friends and i were literally the only people at the bar for the 5 bartenders and barbacks to take care of but we had to call them over every time we needed another round. they acted like we were interrupting their personal conversation. there's way too many good mexican restaurants in this town to ever go back here.

cuisine is a stretch. great view, but that's the best thing about this place. service was fine. tortillas were tough and overcooked. food overall wasn't bad, but the portions are kinda small. the beef fajitas melted in your mouth, very soft, but the flavor wasn't fantastico or anything. basically, thisplaceis meh....for the money there are better places.

the best of the best. the onlyplacein town to get a great margarita - and believe me - i've tried many! the food is fantastic. many of the food items you just can't find anywhere else in town. the centerpiece is a must-try. fresh and delicious! come for the food and enjoy the great staff and fantastic views!

great food, service and ambiance!. simply put - if you don't like aldaco's then you have issues. the service was fantastic!!! the food was delicious and very reasonable. the patio seating was a gift from god that was meant to be shared by all. thank you to everyone on staff at aldaco's and i will be recommending thisplaceto all my family and friends!!!! bravo to you!

if you want to go sit on a great patio and drink mediocre margaritas, thisplaceis awesome! but that is all that is worth mentioning.

nice patio. we visited as the sun was going down.....an adult beverage of an excellent top shelf, good friends. without the patio....thisplacewould have nothing to offer.
food is marginal at best and waiters were just a plate delivery service.

romantic evening. great food, smooth drinks and a view from the heavens. its a greatplaceto being yoru friends or a date!
