so disappointing. i cannot imagine how this restaurant got so highly recommended! i wonder who does the recommending? the view on the patio is of houses and streets - nothing more! next to the patio is the parking lot, or a lawn on which children play leap frog or fighting, while yelling at each other - right next to the dining tables where you are trying to eat! the bar is so noisy, the barman could not hear me trying to order a few drinks. never again!! there are plenty of much bettermexicanrestaurants - this is san antonio.

nice restaurant with a beautiful view.  the service was terrible and by terrible i mean really, really terrible.  she barely came by and when she did, she had forgotten something.  we finally got chips and salsa after we'd already been sitting there 20 minutes.  our queso came out with our food.  luckily the food was good, but it's hard to past the service.  there are so many other goodmexicanfood restaurants, i would have a hard time returning here.

i had the divorciados chicken enchiladas and they were good.  the queso was delicious as well.  i could have sat there and eaten tortillas, chips and queso.

the food is averagemexicanat best, prices are moderate, service is reasonable...it's really about location and the spectacular view from the outdoor seating of the northside in stone oak.

aldaco's is a great restaurant formexicanfood. there is an option of dining inside or outside. from the outside, there is a beautiful view, overlooking a gorgeous vista. aldacos' decor is extremely authentic and very pretty. the seating is really comfortable. their chips are gluten-free and delicious. also, the salsa has a wonderful flavor. i had the chicken fajita's, gluten-free, which were very tasty. the guacamole was great and the meat was cooked perfectly. i really look forward to going back there sometime!

impressed! i hadn't been in a hurry to try this place since in san antonio we don't necessarily equate the stone oak area with good, authenticmexicanfood. but since my parents were in town celebrating my mom's birthday, having read great reviews, and the restaurant being recently added to my airline dining program, i decided to give them a shot. i'm very glad we did! excellent service, excellent food, and we even got a table visit from the owner after our meal. absolutely wonderful birthday meal. my favorites were the grilled panela and zucchini from the centerpiece plate, the marinated steak on the arracheta plate and the borracho beans were all very delicious. i would definitely recommend this place to others and will be back. my only complaint was the noise level, it was very very loud, hard to have a conversation, but perhaps a few carpets would help the acoustics aspect.  when it warms up a bit, i'm looking forward to having a meal on the patio and take advantage of the great view! well done aldaco's, see you soon!

rude, discorteous waiter.. food is ok, nothing extraordinary tough. this was my first and last time here. one of the waiters, amexicanguy, was rude, impolite, bad mannered and discourteous. i reported this immediately to a manager and they substituted this piece of trash with a more capable person, however, i wouldn't ever go again.

i don't recommend it to anybody. there are lots of better restaurants with much more better service. i'd like to repeat: don"t go.

p.s. limes were dry.. uggghh!

even the martians didn't care for this poor excuse for texmex. today for lunch.

martians landed in our back yard and we decided to take them to amexicanrestaurant.

the leader's name was gorp and he had heard great things about "our" texmex. i told them i was not excited with this place but they had heard good things - i had gone there a few years back.

he ordered the jose plate - the enchiladas were tough and the beef fajita was average; gorp said it tasted like "brokjabaraia" - which in english stands for garbage you get from the frozen section of the local "martianmart."

he couldn't believe that people called thismexicanfood - they're trip to the southern peninsula of mexico was way better.

further, he couldn't believe how easy people were in san antonio in accepting this cuisine as authentic quality fare.

i couldn't agree more. i sure hope san antonio has more to offer. incidentally, they had stopped at a local taco cabana while fueling up 3 years ago - and this was no better at twice the price.

service was poor - unfriendly imo.

so, to all you intergalactic travelers? don't bother stopping at aldaco's.

average - at best. went today for lunch.
the person who seats you didn't even try to smile - he was tedious - tho not unfriendly.
we both had a luncheon special #5 - cheese enchiladas and a beef fajita.
i swear - i think a frozen meal from heb would've been just as good.
beef in the fajita was tough. service was adequate.
will not go back - not worth the time or energy.
can't recommend.

top-notchmexicanfood. the overall rating is surprisingly low.

in a city overflowing withmexicanrestaurants, aldaco's is one of the best. in the stone oak area, it is my favorite upscalemexicaneatery. we have eaten here at least 20 times, so this is based on our overall experience. ambiance is upscale but comfortable and not snooty or stuffy. ample indoor seating. weather permitting, there is a large deck with a great view of san antonio. a newly added tarp keeps the elements at bay. the staff are always prompt, attentive, and friendly. service speed varies, but is reasonably fast. chips (yeah, i'm talking chips!) are thick, fresh, and crunchy. they don't taste like typical nasty bag chips you get at most places. salsas are awesome. the food consistently arrives nicely presented, piping hot, fresh and tasty. the best thing about aldaco's, for me, is their list of top-notch margaritas. they've won several awards and we've tried them all. sure, you have ask for a cheapy house margarita made from mix, but we're top-shelfers and have tried just about every margarita in town. these are easily amongst the best. you can taste the qualify of the tequila and the fresh ingredients. no fake sugary flavors here. yum! if you're into desserts (seriously, how often do you have room left for dessert after eating mexican), the few times we've tried them they've been dee-lish. the only negative is that their prices a bit steep, but not out of line given the location.

overall: excellent

highly recommended!

excellent food (selection and quality). great patio view too; chips and roasted garlic salsa is possibly the best in the city; staff provides great service; the owner, blanca aldaco, is usually on-site, greeting the customers and making sure that everyone has a great dining experience; bar service is great... they make "world class" margaritas and bloody mary's; like la fonda, mi tierra, los barrios, casa rio and jacala, aldaco's is a great "destination"mexicanrestaurant. it is definitely worth driving a few extra miles to the far northside of town for the experience. reasonably priced too! enjoy!

this place should be kicked out of san antonio for its sad excuse for guacamole and queso. the queso was just melted velveta with no spice or anything and they went cheap on the guac by mixing in a copious amount of sour cream or some other filler. the chips are the thick kind, which some may like, but i prefer thin and crispy. we also tried several margaritas, all of which were weak and overpriced. the service at the bar was terrible. at 4 o'clock on a saturday my 2 friends and i were literally the only people at the bar for the 5 bartenders and barbacks to take care of but we had to call them over every time we needed another round. they acted like we were interrupting their personal conversation. there's way too many goodmexicanrestaurants in this town to ever go back here.
