this place need no introduction. which one of the city's landmark place. this popularrestaurantis located in old city.
so we went this place to celebrate our first anniversary. i am happy to announce that this place isremarkable in terms of food, food experience ,hospitality, the location everything was top-notch. however it is very heavy on pocket ,it's an experience and i can guarantee you will get authentic taste of gujarati dish over here.

they have multiplerestaurantamong them against aghashiye south unlimited gujarati thali. where the otherrestaurantgreenhouse alacarte menu.

we opted for gujarati thali. in the appetizer we had fresh watermelon juice which was natural and having no added sugar. in the gujarati thali we have dhokli nu shaak, parval nu shaak, bataka ni sukhi bhaji, vedhmi, dahi vada, keri no ras, samosa, dhokla, kadhi ,bhat ,dal, chhas.

the samosa and dhokla were extraordinary good. keri no ras having no added artificial flavours or milk. my favourite dish was vedhmi ( also known as puranpoli) which was having fillng of anjeer.

overall i have satisfying experience of having gujarati thali with authentic taste.also note down there that every item has proper temperature to enjoy the meal. show the juice and buttermilk were cold but not chilled so they have maintain the tempreture very well so we can enjoy all the dishes..even in the dahi vada the curd was at proper temperature.

i will highly recommend this place....

agashiye, a gujarati term that translates to ‘at the roof’. therestaurantis located at the top floor of the heritage hotel located in the heart of the city. the interiors of therestaurantemanate all the vibes of near independence era with large size charkha, bell metal artefacts, jute chairs, fountains with floating banana leaves and red rose petals, crafted bull heads.

at the entrance i was greeted by the staff who asked for my preference for thali out of the two available options viz. heritage classic in kansa thali and heritage grand in silver thali. while i was reading the items offered in each thali, i got perplexed and i turned to the staff for suggestions. the staff reply candidly “if you are less hungry, try the kansa thali, if you are very hungry, try the silver thali”. i laughed away and placed an order for a kansa thali.

as the name goes for ‘the heritage classic in kansa thali’, the food is served in bell metal (kansa) utensils. a royal experience begins when three servicemen approach your table each carrying different serving utensils containing varied items and each of them pours the offerings on your plate. there are 22 items included in the thali; the best ones to have are-
•bataka vada
•panodi
•rajasthani bataka
•fangavela kathol
•gujarati dal
•khichdi with ghee
•makai chat
•desi chana, tameta, keri
•mugdal siro (sweet dish)
•kesar pista ice cream

yes, i a hard time finishing all of it, and all of it was worth it.

the experience doesn’t end here. what followed to complete the lunch was a pan peti comprising pan leaves, and six quadrants in a box containing cloves, coconut and other items that would make a pan. to conclude the visit, at the table itself they brought a pitcher and bowl made of bell metal for washing hands.

as i finished dining, those three servicemen who served food, stood in a line and thanked me.

the experience at thisrestaurantis something i would cherish for long. thanks to the management for the amazing hospitality.

i loved the halwa, kadhi, aam rass, dhokla, some daal wali sabzi, dahi bhalla and anjeer icecrream which was prepared in house.
yes it’s expensive than most of therestaurantbut trust me it’s worth it.

we had dinner last night. i read such rave reviews about this place and i was highly disappointed. they gave makkai rab instead of sherbet for dinner. there was nothing gujarati about this thali, so many vegetables available in winter and they were serving paneer, palak, potatoes and american corn with green pepper sabji. i have had better thalis on the highway. they had written dahi wada on the menu and served fried patra with bit of dahi and chutneys they keep on the table. bhakri was super hard and so was that paratha. methi wada wasn’t that great either. why are they not serving what’s in season and cooked the proper gujarati way?. a four star hotelrestaurantserving such pathetic food, ruined our evening. the dhoklas, i almost forgot how terrible and half heartedly they prepared this staple snack. the dhokla were given tadka with just mustard seeds. couldn’t taste the hing, no chilies, coriander, sesame seeds or curry leaves. those masala bataka barely had any type of seasoning. please save your precious time and money. go to a local small business and get a thali. your taste buds will thank you.

we 5 person took lunch on sunday to have better time with friends and family.
as contrary to my previous 6 visits, this time food was very bad. it was very blend and absolutely tasteless .
and to my surprise my wife and me both got gi infection ( absolutely in typical time frame - incubation period and no other food taken afterwards). being gi surgeon , i wanted to avoid unhygienic restaurants to avoid gi infection especially in this post monsoon period.
their chutney bottles were so dirty and food was not upto the mark this time. so anyone wants to visit thisrestaurant, have a serious thought once again.
we expect better hygienic food especially fromrestaurantcharging more than rs.7000 for 5 person and should retrospect themselves regarding quality of food.

some of food items are missing. i have placed order at 11:30 am and received order at 1:45 pm. i tried calling at agashiyerestaurantbut they are so rude that they not even bother to receive call or talk to their customer. so, i told my delivery guy to talk to them but they didn't give any answer to them as well. not expected this kind of service from agashiye.

full marks to food, undoubtedly of very good quality (taste however is just above normal). however my average ratings are due to exorbitant pricing! for rs, 1395 for buffet dinner, it way way expensive! this price is just to much!!! therestaurantarea is just normal and nothing extraordinary; its maintained in an old-fashioned way and that's what the usp is acclaimed. in my view, the place is just to be tried once and that's it!! i would suggest the hotel management to lower the prices, although not drastically and attract more food lovers!!

agashiye is a fine dining gujarati thali restaurant. therestaurantis located in the heritage property of house of mg. the ambiance is amazing especially the terrace dining. i was here for dinner last weekend with family and had a good experience. coming to the food, they serve only two types of thalis, kansa (bronze) & silver thali - both of them priced steeply at ₹1195 & ₹1695 respectively.

the service is as courteous as it can get and quick. if you are expecting lots of bowls in the plate, i'm afraid you won't see that. i had muthia & patra along with kadhi and dal. one of the best muthias i've had. the welcome drinks were pretty good and so was the chaas. curries include val, chole & karela and all were pretty good on taste. on the desserts front, had rajwadi boondi, mug dal halwa, koprapak and mishti doi. all were pretty good.
thali with a very balanced taste.

all in all therestaurantis pretty good and gives you a great dining experience. however, having eaten at so many places, i felt the pricing is definitely on the higher side considering just the gujarati thali.
however one visit is a must to experience the gujarati hospitality.

if you've ever dreamt of dining royalé, in a royalé age old house that is rich in history, culture and heritage, this is where you go! starting with copper plates and glasses in which the food here is served to you, to the intricate interiors - each and every article in therestaurantat the house of mg screams out royalty! they also have stay options available and the staff is very hospitable and will gladly tell you stories of the site while you can devour the delicacies on your thali. the thali comes for rs 1195/- plsu taxes, starting with buttermilk and aamras and sherbet to dal basti churma to dhoklas to daal pakodis, each and every dish is better than the other. this was the best veg food i've had in gujarat and it's also the best vegrestaurantin asia.

my sister suggested me this place and i went there without even looking it up or any expectations. and when i reached there, boy i was bowled over!

agashiye is situated in house of mg, which has a stay option for guests (starting at 4k per night) ahmedabad trunk - selling high end textiles and antiques and a high end fine dine gujarati thalirestaurantagashiye, which means on the terrace.

the ambience is just awesome and breath taking.

they have two variants of the thali, kansa (less variety @ 1400 ₹ approx) and silver (more items @ 2000₹ approx)

i chose the less variety one and that too was too much for me.

welcome drink, salad, chhat, papd, achaar, chutneys, fasaan, sabji (3 varieties), dal, kadhi, coconut halwa, basundi, roti, paratha, rice and chaas and paan to end it all!

it's worth it if you have a huge appetite. 😝

the food was amazing and the service exemplary! definitely worth an experience!
