one of the highly-rated places in ahmedabad. the ambience of this place will surely make you fall in love. when it comes to food i would say they provide rich authentic food.

the price is a little high. i got it's a heritage site converted into a hotel and has a high maintenance cost. but, i think the amount they are charging for thali, there are limited choices of food options.

if you want toexperiencea heritage place with decent food then you must visit this place. plus, in the covid time, they do temperature checks, provide sanitizers and staff also wear masks which is really appreciated. would rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

this place need no introduction. which one of the city's landmark place. this popular restaurant is located in old city.
so we went this place to celebrate our first anniversary. i am happy to announce that this place isremarkable in terms of food, foodexperience, hospitality, the location everything was top-notch. however it is very heavy on pocket ,it's anexperienceand i can guarantee you will get authentic taste of gujarati dish over here.

they have multiple restaurant among them against aghashiye south unlimited gujarati thali. where the other restaurant greenhouse alacarte menu.

we opted for gujarati thali. in the appetizer we had fresh watermelon juice which was natural and having no added sugar. in the gujarati thali we have dhokli nu shaak, parval nu shaak, bataka ni sukhi bhaji, vedhmi, dahi vada, keri no ras, samosa, dhokla, kadhi ,bhat ,dal, chhas.

the samosa and dhokla were extraordinary good. keri no ras having no added artificial flavours or milk. my favourite dish was vedhmi ( also known as puranpoli) which was having fillng of anjeer.

overall i have satisfyingexperienceof having gujarati thali with authentic taste.also note down there that every item has proper temperature to enjoy the meal. show the juice and buttermilk were cold but not chilled so they have maintain the tempreture very well so we can enjoy all the dishes..even in the dahi vada the curd was at proper temperature.

i will highly recommend this place....

agashiye, a gujarati term that translates to ‘at the roof’. the restaurant is located at the top floor of the heritage hotel located in the heart of the city. the interiors of the restaurant emanate all the vibes of near independence era with large size charkha, bell metal artefacts, jute chairs, fountains with floating banana leaves and red rose petals, crafted bull heads.

at the entrance i was greeted by the staff who asked for my preference for thali out of the two available options viz. heritage classic in kansa thali and heritage grand in silver thali. while i was reading the items offered in each thali, i got perplexed and i turned to the staff for suggestions. the staff reply candidly “if you are less hungry, try the kansa thali, if you are very hungry, try the silver thali”. i laughed away and placed an order for a kansa thali.

as the name goes for ‘the heritage classic in kansa thali’, the food is served in bell metal (kansa) utensils. a royalexperiencebegins when three servicemen approach your table each carrying different serving utensils containing varied items and each of them pours the offerings on your plate. there are 22 items included in the thali; the best ones to have are-
•bataka vada
•panodi
•rajasthani bataka
•fangavela kathol
•gujarati dal
•khichdi with ghee
•makai chat
•desi chana, tameta, keri
•mugdal siro (sweet dish)
•kesar pista ice cream

yes, i a hard time finishing all of it, and all of it was worth it.

theexperiencedoesn’t end here. what followed to complete the lunch was a pan peti comprising pan leaves, and six quadrants in a box containing cloves, coconut and other items that would make a pan. to conclude the visit, at the table itself they brought a pitcher and bowl made of bell metal for washing hands.

as i finished dining, those three servicemen who served food, stood in a line and thanked me.

theexperienceat this restaurant is something i would cherish for long. thanks to the management for the amazing hospitality.

the right gurjari foodexperiencewithout feeling like a staged show. good old serving staff, warm and caring. the thali feels a bit expensive, but then i think that’s the exclusivity of the place. don’t miss mr modi & mr abe’s wall!

theexperiencein itself was too bad. the food was all sweet. even after asking at the booking counter as to whether the food wil be sweet which they assured will not be the case. however, it was too sweet. we paid approximately 1500 for each thali and there was nothing extraordinary in it. the better option is to spend that much and buy a kansa thali for yourself so that you can eat everyday in it. they allowed us in and while we were eating we were asked to take whatever we want on priority as they were closing we had to hurry up eating food. the ice creams served was already half melted and the chutneys served was also not good. overall a very badexperiencewill
not recommend to anyone. waste of time energy and resource. dhokla served was not soft seemed like they were serving the same dhokla since morning and so was the case with the batata vada. yes forgot about basundi which was just plain flavoured milk and the pan is a farce it has fennel seeds and roasted dhana dal in it. a big disappointment ☹️☹️☹️

we originally planned some other place, got to know that as it’s raining we need to cancel booking there. and then you know how jam packed scenes at all restaurants on sundays in ahmedabad.

somehow we managed to be here and everything right from stepping there was upbeat — heritage place, authentic food, service.

i am die hard lover of food that matches the root. food here was exactly same and aroma of inherited food was there to feel.

thali cost around 2000 bucks but really worth theexperienceand the food.

you can see modiji and chinese president snaps around who visited here together pre covid and pre doklam i guess.

agashiye is a fine dining gujarati thali restaurant. the restaurant is located in the heritage property of house of mg. the ambiance is amazing especially the terrace dining. i was here for dinner last weekend with family and had a good experience. coming to the food, they serve only two types of thalis, kansa (bronze) & silver thali - both of them priced steeply at ₹1195 & ₹1695 respectively.

the service is as courteous as it can get and quick. if you are expecting lots of bowls in the plate, i'm afraid you won't see that. i had muthia & patra along with kadhi and dal. one of the best muthias i've had. the welcome drinks were pretty good and so was the chaas. curries include val, chole & karela and all were pretty good on taste. on the desserts front, had rajwadi boondi, mug dal halwa, koprapak and mishti doi. all were pretty good.
thali with a very balanced taste.

all in all the restaurant is pretty good and gives you a great dining experience. however, having eaten at so many places, i felt the pricing is definitely on the higher side considering just the gujarati thali.
however one visit is a must toexperiencethe gujarati hospitality.

the best place for a gujrati thali in the world !! did i make a tall statement ? sure, i did !! and i stick to these words. i tried the kansa thali on my recent trip to ahmedabad and aboslutely loved the contrast of flavours and textures. everything from the farsaan to the mains was mindblowimg. loved the handwo and the different chutneys. even the dal and kadi were next level. the small paranthas went really well with all the preparations on offer. for desserts, i loved the rajbhog halwa and its possibly the best halwa that i have ever tasted. (and i have tasted quite a few) really, words do not do justice to some places and you need toexperienceit yourself to believe it. do try it out at your earliest convenience. the staff would treat you like royalty but feed you as someone feeds a kid.

a place worthy of all the fame it gets. the most iconic gujarati thaliexperiencei've had in ahmedabad is at agashiye.
it's a terrace restaurant that serves traditional gujarati dishes in a thali like bajra rotli, bharela bateka, sev tamatar, gujarati kadhi, dhokla, farsan and what not!
a must visit place.
the taste is wonderful and each dish is served with a lot of poise, they even explain you about the dishes while serving.
total. standout. winner.
