a fine dining experience. me and my wife took my buddy and his wife to celebrate their wedding at the vast. it was three course meals. started with little cheese then bread and main dish. drink wise, we had de loach cab, joel got zinfandel and tropical zizzle (vodka, jalapeno, mango ...).
meal wise, i ordered the night special, strip steak with potato on side and my buddy had seared nori crusted ribeye. my wife and my buddy’s wife had chipotle-agave glazed salmon. everyone enjoyed their food a lot. steak was perfectly cooked and salmon was very nice and jucy.
the view was spectacular. we sat by the window and were able to see the baseball field, ford center, i-35 very clear. therestaurantis on 49th floor of devon tower. it was free parking at the devon garage.
mr. danny was our server. he was very friendly and professional. he gave us a great surprise at the end to bring dessert for us. that made it complete the whole experience. i recommend this place for any special occasion.

most overratedrestaurantin okc. 5/15/2013
most pretentiousrestaurantin okc!
had reservation for 4 this evening. made it thru the first "check point", which is how you get to the elevator to go to the restaurant. upon checking in, i was told we would not be able to eat there because of the shoes i was wearing. i had on black patent leather slides, which they considered to be flip flops. the manager said flip flops were not allowed. according to their website, they request that open toed shoes not be worn. come on ladies, are you really going to wear a closed toed shoe in the summer so you can eat at vast? i was dressed appropriately, i had on white capri and a nice top. the young lady in front of me had on leather thongs with a strap behind the heal. the lady who came in behind me was also wearing sandals. the real kicker was when we were going back thru the first "check point" and the young lady said, "i called the manager to tell him you had on flip flops"! needless to say, we left and went to cattlemen's and had a great steak. bottom line, don't waste your time!

don't go for the food.
i was vastly disappointed. perhaps because i had the (??)disadvantage of dining at gordon ramsey steak in las vegas 3 nights before. while i'm aware that one cannot fairly compare the two, it is nonetheless true that vast endeavors to compete in the fine dining market. so there should be similar standards.
the view is magnificent. but then, it's supposed to be, if you hold out for a window table. otherwise, you are simply sitting in a very nicely appointed, overpriced restaurant. i specified a window table on my open table reservation, but that does not matter when you arrive.
we had drinks in the bar while waiting for our window table. not a long wait. the less than quality service that followed was a big issue for me. to whit:
-dinner drinks were not offered for an hour. water spontaneously arrived on the table at the 55 minute mark. i was offered another cocktail, but nothing else. i assume that many diners have jack and coke with their steaks. i finally requested and received an iced tea.
-the wrong salads were served and subsequently returned.
plates and butter were brought for bread, which never came. the waitress asked later if we would like more bread, i told her we had not yet been served any bread. that came a bit later, by a waitress who was apparently new, and could not successfully handle bread tongs.
scallops and salad were good but not remarkable.
my ($62.00) ribeye was undercooked. the center of the steak was so heavily spiced with the pepper that was concentrated there, that it was basically inedible.
in conclusion, average food for a steakhouse, less than average service, greatly overpriced. i would encourage anyone to experience it for yourself (the view is unmatched), but i will not be going back.
a spectacular view and beautifully appointed room does not arestaurantmake.

my wife and i went to vast for our anniversary. we were apprehensive after reading some of the reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. from start to finish the experience was great. the service from both the host and server was very professional and accommodating. the food was perfectly cooked (we had halibut and a filet special). after dinner, the server had noticed we were celebrating our anniversary and brought us a complimentary dessert which also was very tasty. finally the view from the 49th floor is just beautiful and therestaurantitself is an okc rarity, architecturally speaking. i think the negative reviews are just wrong, maybe reflecting the old management of therestaurantas it has recently changed we found out. you will likely spend over 100 for a couple, but the experience is totally worth it. the plates are not tgi friday sized portions, but they are not supposed to be. it's high quality food presented in an artful way. we say, go to vast and give them a try!

vastly disappointed. the view is obviously fantastic. however, it's a pitty that the quality of their food is not more customized and consistant for the prices charged. i attended a function consisting of approximately 50 individuals and we all received the same meals of steak and salmon. i heard alot of grumbling about the steaks. they were all over-cooked and dry. upon questioning, i was told that it is very difficult for the chef to cook for large parties as ours and cook steaks to the customers' preference. the result was to burn all of them. the meals are overpriced and the portions are small. they seem to serve you with an air of indifference. if it was not for the view, therestaurantwould just be average. i truly would have liked to brag on my dining experience but i felt that their shortcoming needed to be exposed.

second time here and we still love it!. i am quite surprised that thisrestaurantdoesn't have better reviews. we have been twice and had equally great experiences both times. the first time we visited vast, was for our anniversary. the view was great, the food was delicious and our server provided excellent service. you have to be prepared for a very slow meal, but that is the way it is intended to be. there are several courses and all were delicious. i think the price is fair for the type of food they serve. the second time we went was for my fiancés birthday dinner. the special that night was filet mignon oscar which most of the table ordered. while my fiance and i's steaks were cooked perfectly, his sister's definitely was over done. the waiter did offer to take it back but she didn't want to wait for another while everyone else is eating. i feel if you are paying that much for a steak, it should be cooked correctly the first time. we would still recommend vast to others and for special occasion dinners. we will be back.

great views!.restauranthigh (49th floor) above okc, great views!! very nice menu, not overwhelming, but enough interesting choices. a bit expensive (overpriced), but one is dining in the "high rent (literally)" district. felt like we were just a bit ignored at times. waiter had a large group plus us and at least one more table. he seemed too focused on the large group.
overall good experience, great for special occasions.

since miriam didn’t arrive until the 15th we had our valentines day a bit later on. i wanted to take her to a really nicerestaurantfor dinner, and i thought that vast would do the job and she would get to see the city as well. as we were driving to the devon tower to go eat she remarked how close we were getting to it, and wanted me to get closer to it so she could take some pictures of it, since she had seen it before and thought it was a cool building. i told her that we would be getting really close to it. after we figured out where to park, and started walking to the front door she was amazed with the building. she really liked inside the building as well, especially the water feature they had. after a fast elevator ride up to the 49th floor we were greeted by the second hostess and sat immediately after confirming our reservation.

awesome!. i really can't believe all of the negative reviews here. my wife and i went recently for our anniversary dinner and the food was wonderful. the service was outstanding and the views are beautiful. it's not cheap, but i wasn't expecting it to be either. if you are considering thisrestaurantfor any occasion for a nice evening out, you won't be disappointed!

there literally is no otherrestaurantlike it in okc so the view alone is worth a visit (protip: make your reservation 45 minutes to an hour before sunset to get daytime and nighttime views; it faces east so the sun isn't a problem. credit: tw). that being said, it doesn't have to be a very expensive visit. they have a lunch menu and a bar area that you can go to without eating (so i have heard).

i've never posted a review to this site but feeling i have too. after visiting vast on three different occasions over the last year we have had horrible service. go for the view and a cocktail but for the location and expectations of a high endrestaurantit needs major retooling.

mixed.... set your expectations for vast before dining.

start with the name "vast" for arestaurantset atop of the newest, largest corporate structure in okc. great for business lunches and dinner with the corporate crowd in the evening.

this is not a kid-friendly place for sure. (no children's menus and they do not adjust plating for kid appetites.) there is security at the street-level entrance to help filter out those that don't have reservations / are just looking as well. nothing warm or fuzzy about vast at all.

food, service and drinks are well above-average. pricing matches that level of quality and service plus a little premium for the view and the accommodations.

my meals at vast have been quite good, but somewhat forgettable. the $19 lunch buffet is more about quality than quantity - providing a handful of options. i do have to say that they make the best creme brulee i have ever tasted. so there's that.

i'll go back to vast when someone else is buying or when a company picks up the bill. not on my dime or my own time. it's great to have vast there as a choice...just that i would likely choose to eat elsewhere given the price-to-value you pay at vast vs other fine alternatives.

my husband and i had been planning to go for months. it was finally the day of our reservation and got all dressed up and headed their way from yukon. unbeknownst to us, there was construction delay and thunder game traffic causing us to be 15 minutes late. i called therestaurantto let them know we were running late due to traffic and were promply told that they will not let us in, that we were to late. it was our 10 year anniversary. thoroughly disappointed, we decided to dine at toby keith's bar & grill. we had a fabulous time!!! fast forward 9 months to present day- i made a reservation for saturday night at 9:30 pm. it is my husbands birthday. we arrived 10 min early and were told rudely that we are to early to be seated so we waited about 5 min and was seated. the waitress did not greet us for 15 min! after finally giving her our drink order we asked for a wine pairing for our entrée. she had no idea what to say except that their wine specialist was on vacation. after waiting an additional 15 min our drinks were finally delivered. my husband had a single barrel jack & sprite and i had a signature cocktail. both were ok. the waitress (teresa) left us alone for an additional 10 min before taking our dinner selection. my husband ordered the fillet and i the "special" ny strip. both ordered med.well. 30 min later we finally received our entrée's. his was luke warm and discusting! very well done and dry. the meat tasted old. my steak was phenomenal!! that is until i ate the third bite and saw nothing but blood and raw meat. we already complained about the fillet and right after the manager walked away i discovered the red center of my nystrip. i summonsed the manager to come back and showed him the steak and he quickly removed my plate and removed the entree from the bill. we refused any discounts up until this point. the manager apologized profusely and gave us his card and told us to dine for lunch on him next time. i will probably take my mother inlaw out to lunch because my husband would rather eat at a "real five star"restaurantand pay five star prices then eat at a "three star"restaurantfor free. maybe our regular visits to ruth's chris steakhouse has spoiled us. we still haven't found a true 5star steakhouse in okc. we will continue our search. do not waste your time or money going to vast.

dinner event vast is last. i work for a medical device company and had a co-marketing event last week with a pharmaceutical company on the 49th floor. we rsvp'd for 19 and 24 medical practitioners showed up. i thought that this was a good thing but the manager named andrew curonja refused to make five more dinners. he was rude and didn't offer us anything else to eat and said you can only get what you have rsvp'd. dinner was steak and salmon and was average from what the attending doctors said because i was one one the attendees who didn't get to eat. i spoke with two different medical sales reps, and they had the same issues with their event at vast. this place is not service oriented to the customer and the food is average. it is unfortunate because the view is wonderful. i will not go back to thisrestaurantand will not schedule any dinner events again at vast. vast is last.

a happy anniversary experience!. my wife and i thorougly enjoyed celebrating our silver wedding anniversary on friday the 13th at vast. we dined on consistently well-prepared and delicious food and interacted with a professional, attentive and courteous staff from start to finish.

i made reservations two weeks in advance, fearing i might have delayed too long due to the restaurant's popularity. the scheduler handling reservations was pleasant and informative, explaining the dress code and parking availability and entertaining any questions i might have. i also received a phone message three days in advance confirming the reservation seating time.

valet or self-parking is available on the north side of the building (the valet parking fee is ten dollars). the parking valet was very pleasant and took good care of our vehicle. the devon energy tower lobby is absolutely beautiful, but i had to take a couple of rest breaks going to therestaurantentrance on the south side of the building since i'm disabled. the nice lady covering the front desk ushered us to the elevators, and we went to the 49th floor.

we were pleasantly greeted by the maitre' d, who advised us we could wait in the lounge while our table was being prepared. after a few minutes with excellent drinks while enjoying the spectacular view, we were seated at a corner table with breathtaking views to the south and west of the city. brad, our waiter, was very courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable, and thoroughly explained the evening's menu offerings, which we had previously researched online. vast has a detailed, easy to navigate website which is worth visiting in advance. we made our choices, and brad introduced us at our request to michael, our sommelier. michael has a wealth of information to provide regarding his craft, and suggested wine pairings for us which supremely complimented each course.

the meal began with a complimentary swordfish salad appetizer, followed by our first course. i had the bay scallops and mussels, and linda enjoyed the lobster ravioli with battered lobster claws, accompanied by three different kinds of bread. the opening round was impressive! that course was followed by beet salad for my wife, and i just had to try the sweet potato clam chowder topped with candied barbecued bacon-it was delicious! then they brought out muscovy duck for my wife and braised lamb shanks burgundy for me along with a couple of robust reds. the main courses were very tasty and well-presented. when it was time for dessert, i was desirous of the fried-pie bananas foster, but brad surprised us with a dark chocolate anniversary cake, a substantial compliment to the meal accompanied by a couple of vast's signature champagne cocktails!

thoroughly satisfied, we relaxed a bit while enjoying the night view before heading home. i expected our check to be moderately expensive (and it was) but both of us felt we certainly received our money's worth. oklahoma city visitors might want to research driving in that part of town or take a taxi. i look forward to us being repeat visitors in the future, as there are a number of menu items i'd like to try, like that bananas foster!
