lunch at vast not so good. we took our our 17 year old grandson to vast hoping to treat him to a fantastic view and a nice dining experience. well, we got the view, but not the nice dining experience. we did get a window table as requested, but we were the only diners in that area, which felt like we were second class citizens. the table was very chipped, the bench fabric was stained and table was next to a serving station. the beef stew soup was adequate; we were not served rolls with soup, they were brought cold well after soup bowl removed. we had to ask for a salt and pepper set, and the one brought to table was dirty, like a bad diner would have. our lunch was adequate not great. my grandson's hamburger was served medium rare when medium well was requested with a very soggy bottom bun. the waiter did take burger off check as we did not want another 15 min wait. we could hear waiter complaining to bar staff about this and heard him say "you should see how they look" and looking at us while speaking. yes, we did leave 20% gratuity as that is polite; too bad these particular vast staff members appear to have no concept of politeness to all customers, not just who they think may be well-heeled. i would like to compliment a very gracious young lady who very nicely showed us the private dining rooms. the olive garden across from penn square had better decor, friendly and efficient wait staff and better food. you don't always get what you pay for and we are cancelingdinnerreservations for upcoming birthday!
