dress code? okie please. i'd like to see the management staff respond to the lady who was apparently turned away for not wearing proper shoes. then we'll see either a humble and gracious apology for tacky profiling or, more likely, we'll see a defensive and staunch position on stupidity.

do ya'll realize our ancestors (here in oklahoma) were kicked out of every place else and then stole and cheated their way to land ownership and prosperity? most of us are two to three generations away from very humble beginnings.

we're not thatgreatyou know, show some humility and stop being so pretentious.

and you, checkpoint girl, you work in a tourist trap restaurant, you can drop the attitude.

not as good as expensive.. the service was fine, the sight of thegreatplains from the 49th floor is stunning, but some items in the menu are rather mediocre. i ordered the maine lobster ravioli and regretted it. they were as disgusting as they were expensive. probably one of the worst dishes i have ever tried. however, my filet mignon was really good (not the best i've had though). they do not have bourbon whiskeys, but their scotch and irish whisky selection is ok. their wine menu is fine and varied, but it is not large. if you go to vast, pick very carefully what you are going to eat and keep in mind that you are paying for the sight.

a fine dining experience. me and my wife took my buddy and his wife to celebrate their wedding at the vast. it was three course meals. started with little cheese then bread and main dish. drink wise, we had de loach cab, joel got zinfandel and tropical zizzle (vodka, jalapeno, mango ...).
meal wise, i ordered the night special, strip steak with potato on side and my buddy had seared nori crusted ribeye. my wife and my buddy’s wife had chipotle-agave glazed salmon. everyone enjoyed their food a lot. steak was perfectly cooked and salmon was very nice and jucy.
the view was spectacular. we sat by the window and were able to see the baseball field, ford center, i-35 very clear. the restaurant is on 49th floor of devon tower. it was free parking at the devon garage.
mr. danny was our server. he was very friendly and professional. he gave us agreatsurprise at the end to bring dessert for us. that made it complete the whole experience. i recommend this place for any special occasion.

most overrated restaurant in okc. 5/15/2013
most pretentious restaurant in okc!
had reservation for 4 this evening. made it thru the first "check point", which is how you get to the elevator to go to the restaurant. upon checking in, i was told we would not be able to eat there because of the shoes i was wearing. i had on black patent leather slides, which they considered to be flip flops. the manager said flip flops were not allowed. according to their website, they request that open toed shoes not be worn. come on ladies, are you really going to wear a closed toed shoe in the summer so you can eat at vast? i was dressed appropriately, i had on white capri and a nice top. the young lady in front of me had on leather thongs with a strap behind the heal. the lady who came in behind me was also wearing sandals. the real kicker was when we were going back thru the first "check point" and the young lady said, "i called the manager to tell him you had on flip flops"! needless to say, we left and went to cattlemen's and had agreatsteak. bottom line, don't waste your time!

beautiful concept, lacking execution.. i've been to vast twice. once in the main dining area and once in a private room. it's truly beautiful and has agreatfeel and delicious cocktails, but is lacking greatly in customer service. each time the wait staff seemed genuinely annoyed with our presence, being short with customer service, and when the meals came out, on two separate occasions mind you, they were luke warm. when one member of the party, the birthday girl, asked for her meal to be warmed up, the server literally grabbed it from the table and stuck her thumb in her pork! so disappointing for a meal that cost well over $250.

great for dessert and cocktails. celebrated my anniversary here with my girlfriend and had a reallygreattime. service was speedy and kind. we nabbed some window seats in the lounge/bar area. the cocktails were fantastic, worth the price. the manhattan and the hummingbird are both great. i would definitely recommend the bananas foster for dessert. one strange thing though: i was contacted 5 different times to confirm my reservation for 9pm. 2 emails, and three phone calls. i think this is a bit excessive. on one call, we were offered an earlier time for our reservation even though i specified in the first four points of contact that we were coming for dessert and drinks. no big deal, just kinda weird. positive experience overall.

second time here and we still love it!. i am quite surprised that this restaurant doesn't have better reviews. we have been twice and had equallygreatexperiences both times. the first time we visited vast, was for our anniversary. the view was great, the food was delicious and our server provided excellent service. you have to be prepared for a very slow meal, but that is the way it is intended to be. there are several courses and all were delicious. i think the price is fair for the type of food they serve. the second time we went was for my fiancés birthday dinner. the special that night was filet mignon oscar which most of the table ordered. while my fiance and i's steaks were cooked perfectly, his sister's definitely was over done. the waiter did offer to take it back but she didn't want to wait for another while everyone else is eating. i feel if you are paying that much for a steak, it should be cooked correctly the first time. we would still recommend vast to others and for special occasion dinners. we will be back.

great views!. restaurant high (49th floor) above okc, greatviews!! very nice menu, not overwhelming, but enough interesting choices. a bit expensive (overpriced), but one is dining in the "high rent (literally)" district. felt like we were just a bit ignored at times. waiter had a large group plus us and at least one more table. he seemed too focused on the large group.
overall good experience,greatfor special occasions.

november skies. dined at the exclusive 49th floor in november during their lunch buffet. i was relieved to find that an evening gown was not required to enter, on the contrary i saw guests dressed from scrubs to jeans to business attire. the food was good, plentiful (it was a buffet after all), and reasonably priced. dinner, i'm sure is a little higher on the scale of class and prestige. the view wasgreatand the service was what you would expect from a notable establishment. hope to visit again in the future.

we enjoyed thanksgiving dinner at vast very much. the menu consisted of traditional offerings, but they had attempted to elevate each dish in some way. i had the pork tenderloin which hadgreatflavor and was very tender. the green bean casserole had fried shallots, but not nearly enough of them. my 8 year old has a more adult palate and was very pleased with her turkey with pepper gravy, sweet potatoes, and smoked gouda mac and cheese. the prime rib was a definite stand out. maybe the best we've ever tasted. the lobster and squash soup was to die for! i could eat a whole pot, packed with flavor, but not such that the lobster was lost. i have also been dreaming about the pistachio macarons with raspberry filling. fluffy cookies gleaming of egg whites with a little chew in the center, but crunch on the outside. the lemon cookies with fresh herb glaze frosting were also swoon worthy. well done, pastry chef. service was attentive, but not outstanding. setting, of course, is beautiful. we will return to sample the regular menu. impressed with their first foray into thanksgiving dinner.

mixed.... set your expectations for vast before dining.

start with the name "vast" for a restaurant set atop of the newest, largest corporate structure in okc.greatfor business lunches and dinner with the corporate crowd in the evening.

this is not a kid-friendly place for sure. (no children's menus and they do not adjust plating for kid appetites.) there is security at the street-level entrance to help filter out those that don't have reservations / are just looking as well. nothing warm or fuzzy about vast at all.

food, service and drinks are well above-average. pricing matches that level of quality and service plus a little premium for the view and the accommodations.

my meals at vast have been quite good, but somewhat forgettable. the $19 lunch buffet is more about quality than quantity - providing a handful of options. i do have to say that they make the best creme brulee i have ever tasted. so there's that.

i'll go back to vast when someone else is buying or when a company picks up the bill. not on my dime or my own time. it'sgreatto have vast there as a choice...just that i would likely choose to eat elsewhere given the price-to-value you pay at vast vs other fine alternatives.
