toast on market

our party stumbled upon toast on market and very much enjoyed our meal. the service was quick and very friendly. we ordered the steak and eggs - not what we were anticipating, but delicious; bananas foster french toast - with lots of bananas!; omelette with cream cheese and smoked salmon - my mom will be talking about it for years; and the garlic grilled cheese add bacon - maybe the best meal of the day! would return nexttimewe are in louisville!

horrible experience.

we have talked about visting toast for weeks and finally took the hour drive to come into louisville to have their fare.

we arrive at 2:05 to be told the store is closed.

however thetimehere listed on site says they close at 3.

wasted day and bad experience because they couldnt accomadate a 5 min late party who drove an hour to eat there specifically.

next time, take some extra care to ensuretimeschedules are correct on social media and reservation sites.

the food and service are outstanding! the pancakes are so rich and fluffy and everything was just the perfect portion. will definitely be back nexttimewe visit.

great!. we went in on a whim because we hadtimeto kill and hadn't eaten breakfast, we had heard good things so we said why not...best decision! our waiter was friendly and the food was outstanding!

good. very good food. i especially love the cheesy hashbrown casserole. service was somewhat poor the lasttimewe visited, but it was a very busy sunday so i can be fairly forgiving. definitely wouldn't stop me from returning!

delicious. firsttimeand we had a friendly host, knowledgable server, quick service, and wonderful food (and lattes!). the classic french toast was very tasty and i had enough to take some home. very nice and relaxing atmosphere. i'll be back, and i'll be bringing friends! ;)

i absolutely adore toast on market and judging by their wait times every weekend so do you. toast has outgrown their tiny walls in downtown nulu and is temporarily closing to set up bigger digs: if you're heading there one lasttimebefore the move try my favorite: the bacon and egg sandwich with dijon vinaigrette, gorgonzola, applewood bacon and a perfect over-medium egg served with hashbrown casserole. oh- and one rum raison bread pudding pancake on the side. a la cart style y'all. my mother-in-law swears that their coffee is as good as disney coffee. now that's saying something. good luck with reopening toast !

sunday may not be best day to come to toast.. even with call ahead seating it took a longtimeto get in. it was also loud and packed. the food was excellent though with menu selections not found at other resteraunts. the pancakes are the best thing i have had there. lemon chiffon, bread pudding and the buttermilk are all good. the pot roast on the buttermilk pancake is the best of breakfast and lunch together. my wife loves the tomato soup and blt sandwich the best. there will be something for everyone on the menu.

way way overpriced, disappointing. my husband and family went to toast for the firsttimeafter hearing that they had a good breakfast there. i was highly disappointed. we had read that it was one of the premier places to go for breakfast fare. my three kids had pancakes, they were just ok. my husband got the bread pudding pancakes and liked his. however i ordered an omlet, egg white only with spinach and mushrooms and cheddar cheese. i was charge .95 cents per filling and there was hardly any in it and certainly not worth almost a dollar a filling, and they charged me an extra dollar for egg white only. by thetimewe got the bill for two kids plates, a side pancake for the baby and my husband and i's breakfast we were charged 40.00 dollars!!! its breakfast food, it cost more than our dinner the night before at the italian eatery. with tip we were 45 dollars into a breakfast, holy cow!!! it wasn't at all worth that much money!!! way way over priced for food that is just ok.

really disappointing. so today i went to toast on market for the second time. the firsttime(about 1 month ago), it was okay - nothing stella - but the coffee was really subpar. this morning we went because they opened earlier than other area restaurants and we were sorely disappointed.
again the coffee - really poor. we asked our waitress what they served and she said, "i don't know - some european blend. it's really good." um, no. it's just a shame that in a town with heine bros. and quills that they can't find something a little more palatable to serve.
today i ordered the bread pudding pancakes. when they finally came out, they were undercooked to the point of being raw in the middle - i could literally taste the batter. when i told this to the waitress, she begged to differ, saying, "well, they're different than regular pancakes - they're supposed to be a little raw." really? i said i knew it was a bread pudding spin and i expected a little gumminess, but that i could taste the batter. she kind of looked at me and said, "okay, i'll take them back." now, i expect (and i don't think unrealistically so) that when an order is poorly prepared (or raw) that the make-up order should go to the front of the line. rather, i sat there and watched my boyfriend eat his (also less than remarkable breakfast) for *15 minutes* before they brought out the second order. mind you, during thattimewe had just decided it wasn't worth it, cancelled our order, and handed over our credit card.
the manager came over and apologized and i explained to him that we were just really disappointed and he said, "oh, well, sorry."
so between the coffee, blah food, a waitress that couldn't have cared less, and a manager who just kind of shrugged his shoulders, we'll definitely not be going back. it's much more worth our efforts to wait a little while until someplace like hillbilly tea opens their doors for breakfast.

it's just ok. we have been here at least four times and everytimeit's been really, really slow. good grief, it's just breakfast! we have ordered hot chocolate drinks with caramel twice and both times they were really watery. not good at all--i'm thinking a swiss miss packet with caramel sauce thrown in and wayyyy too much water! no thanks, not worth the 6 or 8 bucks either.
the breakfast is ok. the potato casserole is really good, but it takes so freaking long to get to you that you are ravenous by thetimeit comes out. i would not recommend this place because i don't think that the value is there or the prices justify mediocrity. i know people rave on and on about this place, but i'm not going back.

good but crowded on the weekends. the firsttimei visited toast on market was on a weekend morning. my wife and i waited a good 40 minutes before we were seated, but we soon found out that the wait was worth it. the atmosphere is unique, if not a bit sparse, basic tables and chairs with large prints of people's faces on the walls stairing down at you. it kind of feels like you are sitting in an old church building, minus the stained glass windows, pews etc. there is the potential for voices to echo and during busy times it can be difficult to have a discussion at your table. they have a dlightful selection of french toast on the menu which i have tried each and every one. they are fantastic. they also have a wonderful basil tea that i just can't get enough of. i have been here several times since and everytimehas been equally as enjoyable.

toast is a must for brunch. everytimei visit louisville i always have brunch at toast and each visit is better each time. thistimei had a new item on the menu and it was the lemon souffle pancake which was perfectly balanced and melted in my mouth. the others in my party was all satisfied with the service and food as well... toast is a must for everyone in louisville!!

not worth the wait. i've been to toast a few times and the food is pretty good. however, everytimei've been the wait has been so excruciatingly long i don't ever want to make the trek downtown. if you're going at an off-peak hour or day, go for it!

sadly disappointing. i had heard so many great things about toast on market, which is why i am so disappointed by my average experience.

first, i didn't mind waiting for a table ... i fully expected that given the restaurant's popularity. however, the wait for our food was excessive.

my husband got an omelette with chorizo, which was good, but nothing special. i had the caprese grilled cheese, which was underwhelming at best - and it was barely warm by thetimeit arrived. i also ordered the black bean soup after mentioning to my server that i did not want the chili because it was too meaty. upon receiving the black bean soup, i learned it was swimming with bacon. granted i should have asked, but you would think my server would have picked up on the fact that i don't like meat given our previous conversation.

my last complaint has to do with the coffee: i read in a previous review that they serve complimentary coffee for those waiting for a table. upon arrival, i noticed a coffee station with mugs and a carafe. i asked if this was for those who are waiting and was told it was. i poured myself half a cup. i proceeded to decline refills for the rest of the meal, and upon receiving my check saw i was charged $2.50 for what wasn't good coffee to begin with.

if i do return to toast, i will likely stick to breakfast fare - probably either french toast or pancakes.
