the highway / hwy

keep eating lunch at the hwy as we quite often go there to watch various sporting events. disappoints far more often than impresses. very hit and miss. sometimes decent. most times below average. if you are looking for good consistentfoodlook somwhere else.

i ordered the 200gram beef burger
the brioche bun was very soft and fresh,.
there must've been half a cos lettuce in mine
the beef patty was very flavoursome,
everyone else seemed happy with theirfoodtoo
it's typical pubfoodbut was done well, the only thing to pick on is it took over half an hour for thefoodto come out,but they were quite busy

chilli for charity has a nice (fire) ring to it and it's happening at the highway at 290 anzac highway, plympton. tempting palates was invited to taste the menu which is available throughout august. for every meal purchased $1.00 will be donated to the hutt st centre which is a charity helping people facing homelessness to rebuild their lives. although thefoodand drinks were provided free of charge, it was consensus amongst everyone at the table to make a donation to help kick start the campaign.

easy for a midweek dinner with the girls. quick and friendly service. the menu is pub grub, with lovely pizzas too, all of a considtantly good quality. counter service, and the give you a buzzer thingo to let you know when yourfoodis ready. the out swig beer garden area is light and comfortable and means you can sit and enjoy. the place, for its size, has a great vibe.

good food, great atmosphere. my boyfriend and i went to the highway on saturday and it was packed! we had to sit outside because there was no room inside, our own fault... we didn't make a reservation. it's okay though, we sat near a heater! the atmosphere at the highway was awesome. they had a large screen on which the football game was screened and everyone was drinking, eating or socialising! thefoodwas nice, i had a chicken schnitzel with pepper sauce and my boyfriend got the ribs. he let me try some of the ribs and they were amazing!!! so tender and the bbq sauce they put on them was to die for. he let me dip some of my schnitzel into the sauce because it was heaps nicer than the pepper sauce i got. the schnitzel itself was nice but i've definitely had better pepper sauce before. great place to go for a good pub meal and a great atmosphere

the stranger and i got invited to the highway on the corner of anzac highway and marion road a couple of weeks ago to sample their new summer menu produced by the highway’s head chef, nick finn and his team with our meals and drinks paid for ( – this does not influence my post whatsoever). this season, nick has sourced more south australian produce and incorporated it into the menu creating flavour combinations inspired by his global travels. hwy. …food & drink upon arrival, we were quickly attended to and seated with both drinks andfoodmenu supplied. the bistro area was open, modern looking and inviting; you could say that it was a little bit fan-cay~, a far cry from your typical pub/cafe dining areas. some drinks to start off with… sparkling crisp bubbled water to share… to ol ‘baltic frontier‘ ipa denmark; $12.00 and an import beer for the fella. 24hr sous vide pork belly; $15.00 when have we ever not ordered a pork belly on the menu? a really interesting flavour combo of 24hr sou

disappointed. my partner and i went at the hotel yesterday thought of the highway as being a multi award wining hotel it would cater to good food.but after looking at the menu i was not that impressed as my partner and i both don't eat seafood and i don't eat beef which literally left me having only the bbq chicken pizza which wasn't that great and the salad which my partner ordered was just no good.

overall i would rate thefoodbelow average and choice available on the menu is not much.

vegofoodat the highway inn. the highway is my local pub. my partner and i, who are both vegetarian, go there often. and we often bring other vegetarian friends. why do we go to the highway like, all the time?
1. because they make me a vegie burger when i ask (it's not on the menu, but they'll always make it for me, no probs)
2. because their eggplant and chevre pizza is to die for (once again, not on the bar menu, but they'll make it when i ask, no prob)
3. because it's a fabulous place to meet groups of friends, including kids and babies (running around space, playing on ground space)
4. because they have indoor and outdoor fires in winter
5. because they'e had mulled cider recently!
6. because you can go to the restaurant, the bar, or the sports bar - all very different spaces
7. and because on friday nights a very cute woman serves us drinks at our tables, and makes us feel special
it's the best suburban pub in adelaide!

went for a sunday lunch. menu system confusing as main menu stated available all the time although we were told to select from the smaller menu. service was good. staff polite.foodreasonably quick approx 20 minute wait. we had various dishes:- ribs, burger, schnitzel and fish plus garlic bread - all hot and delicious.

typical pub food. good pizzas however. the restaurant offers friendly service butfoodis a let down and pricey.

service wise, the highway has got it spot on. the two waiters who dealt with us were both professional and efficient while being friendly and accommodating. the highway demonstrates that a pub can serve good, interestingfoodand be a better than average venue for a meal out. we’ll definitely return.

took some interstate business guests here 2wks ago. staff knowledgeable and professional.foodgreat and a fairly good wine list. very glad i choose to take them to the hwy. thet created a good impression which reflected on me.

we went to the highway for lunch to celebrate my sister-in-law's birthday. there were 7 adults 3 kids and a baby, all but one enjoyed their meal, my daughter didn't like the kids pasta and i am not sure why they chose a capsicum base for kids, would imagine a tomato base would be more popular. the wait staff were all very friendly and did their jobs well and quickly. the decor is great with some nice art on the walls and all fittings are high quality. the menu has a huge range, as you expect at a pub, but they seemed to do the variety offoodwell. great for larger groups as there will be something for everyone. we'll go back again.

great variety on the menu, fantastic modern decor. doesn't have that tacky 'bistro' feel. thefoodis interesting and exciting, the pumpkin pizza i had was beautiful. the churros are a must for dessert, extremely moreish. service was fantastic as well.
