went here for a sunday lunch with the girls. thought the atmosphere outside was nice. the menu selection is poor, over priced and to top it off you have to collect your meal when it's ready!

i won't be going back, plenty of nicer places on that side of town that aren't over priced.

good food, great atmosphere. my boyfriend and i went to the highway on saturday and it was packed! we had to sit outside because there was no room inside, our own fault... we didn't make a reservation. it's okay though, we sat near a heater! the atmosphere at the highway was awesome. they had a large screen on which the football game was screened and everyone was drinking, eating or socialising! the food was nice, i had a chicken schnitzel with pepper sauce and my boyfriend got the ribs. he let me try some of the ribs and they were amazing!!! so tender and the bbq sauce they put on them was to die for. he let me dip some of my schnitzel into the sauce because it was heaps nicer than the pepper sauce i got. the schnitzel itself was nice but i've definitely had better pepper sauce before. great place to go for a good pub meal and a great atmosphere

i came here last night with my partner to eat a nice meal but we got far from that i orderd the crispy chicken breast number 1 if the menu promises a crispy chicken breast thats what i would expect not a soft soggy fatty bit of chicken fat on top complained to staff and got a replacement my partner got the roast for $28 all he got was 3 peices of pork fat and onions it was way over priced for what we got, the only thumbs up where the replacement schnitzel and service was good.

i like a sunday afternoon in the beer garden. especially when they have a live band. staff are generally friendly. pub grub food, with sometimes interesting offerings like deep-fried pickles, which i had seen in a movie but not tried before. i liked their pear salad when they had that, too. couldn't recommend dining in the restaurant part with kids though. it just isn't kid friendly and they only had one high chair. good, comfy beer garden with an impressive big screen - probably a plus for people who enjoy footy. i've never been to a movie night there, but think it would be fun. they have some good events advertised.

the highway has won a stream of aha awards and rightfully so. since the renovations back in ’06 (i’m guessing here!) they have drawn crowds of diners and party-goers. the hotel boasts a huge beer garden area (heated for those colder months!) with a monstrous screen to watch your favourite sport. ( the hwy ) 8. casablabla (cocktail bar) casablabla has a very inviting feel to it, drawing inspiration from morocco, turkey, bali and cambodia. sit back, relax with a cocktail and enjoy the salsa and flamenco dancers that regularly hit the d-floor. ( casablabla ) 9. the wheatsheaf hotel (front bar/pub) the wheaty pub is a hidden gem for all the craft beer aficionados out there. regularly hosting craft beer launches, meet the brewer sessions and more. they have a pretty impressive range of beers available so you’ll find something that you love. ( the wheatsheaf hotel ) 10. cantina sociale (wine bar) i’m yet to visit but it has made the top 10 due to all the positive reviews i’ve been hearing la

eat there regularly and have generally been happy with the consistency of the food. salad is not great but the pizzas are very nice. had a cajun style stew once which was very tasty. drinks here are a bit on the expensive side but a great facility all round.

the stranger and i got invited to the highway on the corner of anzac highway and marion road a couple of weeks ago to sample their new summer menu produced by the highway’s head chef, nick finn and his team with our meals and drinks paid for ( – this does not influence my post whatsoever). this season, nick has sourced more south australian produce and incorporated it into the menu creating flavour combinations inspired by his global travels. hwy. …food & drink upon arrival, we were quickly attended to and seated with both drinks and food menu supplied. the bistro area was open, modern looking and inviting; you could say that it was a little bit fan-cay~, a far cry from your typical pub/cafe dining areas. some drinks to start off with… sparkling crisp bubbled water to share… to ol ‘baltic frontier‘ ipa denmark; $12.00 and an import beer for the fella. 24hr sous vide pork belly; $15.00 when have we ever not ordered a pork belly on the menu? a really interesting flavour combo of 24hr sou

i was very hesitant to pour green liquid into my creme brûlée, so i just started off very slowly. i soon deduced that the green stuff was not some refinement of basil, but a tasteless syrup with a green tinge. i was drinking it straight from its beaker, trying to detect a flavour. the crime brûlée itself was fairly weak. the crispy top was uneven, and it didn’t have any strong texture or flavour, including the purported orange flavour. the side scoop of sorbet had a generic tropical flavour.

i had a birthday dinner there a few weeks ago, it was in two tables which wasn't wanted. but my dinner was at 8 and when i got there my tables weren't ready and people were still eating at them when there were empty tables elsewhere. didn't get the greatest service either. disappointed.

disappointed. my partner and i went at the hotel yesterday thought of the highway as being a multi award wining hotel it would cater to good food.but after looking at the menu i was not that impressed as my partner and i both don't eat seafood and i don't eat beef which literally left me having only the bbq chicken pizza which wasn't that great and the salad which my partner ordered was just no good.

overall i would rate the food below average and choice available on the menu is not much.

vego food at the highway inn. the highway is my local pub. my partner and i, who are both vegetarian, go there often. and we often bring other vegetarian friends. why do we go to the highway like, all the time?
1. because they make me a vegie burger when i ask (it's not on the menu, but they'll always make it for me, no probs)
2. because their eggplant and chevre pizza is to die for (once again, not on the bar menu, but they'll make it when i ask, no prob)
3. because it's a fabulous place to meet groups of friends, including kids and babies (running around space, playing on ground space)
4. because they have indoor and outdoor fires in winter
5. because they'e had mulled cider recently!
6. because you can go to the restaurant, the bar, or the sports bar - all very different spaces
7. and because on friday nights a very cute woman serves us drinks at our tables, and makes us feel special
it's the best suburban pub in adelaide!
