when my best friend decided she was going to surprise her husband with goldfish for his birthday, she and i set out at lunchtime to pick up the fish, so they could be waiting for him when he got home from work. yes, she’s a mastermind (that’s why she’s my best friend). anyway, this plot took us very close to the elusive flute (onlyopenon weekdays), so we couldn’t resist the chance to pop in. i picked a cake i haven’t seen there before – apple strudel cake. um, yes. the ‘apple’ was a dome of vanilla mousse/cream, glazed in apple-flavoured sweetness, sitting atop a cake that had all of the beautiful apple strudel flavours i feel in love with in austria. the top was decorated with a spiced crumble, which was

every time i went back to canberra i had to go back to flute bakery for their delicious sausage roll and quiche.

they onlyopenmonday to friday, from 8:00-15ish. even it was early morning, ppl started coming through the door and buying freshly baked bread, pies, pastries and quiches for breakfast or just to take home to share.

coffee there was just ok. but a nice pot of hot tea would be nice to company your breakfast. the cake looked nice, tasted nice, but not impressive.

among all the products, i personally loved their quiche the most! filled with plenty of ham, cheese and onion, wrapped in a beautiful and flaky pastry shell, it just tasted amazing! the pie was nice but i preferred the sausage roll. we finished our breakfast with a cheesecake brioche, with airy & fluffy dough, sweet/sour custard &cream filling. sinful but delight!

recommend to everyone who is looking for nice bakery for fresh baked good/ pastries and decent pie, sausage roll and quiche. you must visit the flute bakery when you are in town.

been ordering birthday cake for my hubby, my brother and myself from here for 7 years consecutively (and don't plan to stop) coz it's just that amazing! nothing in canberra can compare to flute's cake. the others may be better looking but taste wise, flute is always no. 1.

i proudly brought a few non canberrans friends here as well for morning tea coz again it's just that good.

i love you flute!

ps: please have eftpos machine and startopenon weekends...

delicious cakes. absolutely wonderful flavours that dance in your mouth. my only real complaint is their opening hours, which ensure that 80% of the working class need to take a day off work in order to get there. is it so hard toopena bakery cafe on a saturday? especially one as popular and no doubt profitable as this.

beautiful selection of cakes and pastries. just a pity that it doesn'topenon weekends, making it quite hard for a working person from the north side to get there during the week.

the flute is a quaint, french provincial style patisserie. they’re onlyopenfrom 8am – 3pm on weekdays, which makes it incredibly difficult to get to unless you take some time off from work. the cakes and pies taste amazing and are very reasonably priced.

flute bakery is sadly onlyopenmonday to friday (approx 7-3pm). it offers beautiful cakes and pastries, well priced tea $2.50 per pot for one, coffee $3.50 and great bread. an assiette, a selection of four different treats is available for $8, making it a great way to share and savour a range of smaller portions. the decor is fine, but more ‘bakery’ like than cafe. a great spot for a coffee if weekday shopping in fyshwick.

barista. decided to go to flute because i have had reasonably good service and food.
ordered "hot"coffee as some establishments serve warm coffee, the coffee arrived warm not hot so i alerted a staff member who took it away, when it came back was over heated either micro of steam wand. it was not drinkable.
i asked for the money back and the woman behind the counter threw the money onto the counter and the fellow standing behind the counter said why don't youopena coffee shop next door! and then asked me to leave?
my understanding is that a little criticism is welcome so as to improve operations.
this is a message to be given to my ten best friends.
hospitality does not equal rudeness.

good but not always open. everything here is delicious, particularly the brioche and macarons. luckily working in fyshwick, we often get their cakes for work birthdays which is a treat! however, they aren't alwaysopenwhen you would expect which can be a bit annoying, particularly because they are notopenon weekends! (mon-fri 9-3) overall a good experience though.

cute patisserie and bakery. i was determined to check out fluke bakery on a day off after tasting a birthday triple chocolate mousse cake that was brought into work. delicious! they are onlyopen9-3 on monday-friday. you can't miss it as there are tables, chairs and outdoor umbrella stands on their little patio. the little cakes are unique and i couldn't help but get excited over trying everything. there is a little dog that pops around in the afternoon, apparently a regular, and just sits there quietly. he was gorgeous. the cakes are yummy and i will definitely be going back for more. the only thing i didn't like was that by 2.30, the waiters were packing up the outdoor chairs and this made me feel like i had to rush and finish my coffee and cake quickly.

tucked down a barren street lined with industrial estates in fyshwick, flute bakery appears like a shimmering mirage of gustatory salvation. even then, the canvas awnings and outdoor seating reveal little of what lays within. we pushopenthe door to find an elegant french patisserie, pies and quiches in the warmer, a gleaming glass cabinet filled with gateaux, tarts, brioche and pastries, and shelves of crusty baguettes and breads behind the counter.
