my wife and i shared a low country boil and a bowl of clam chowder. this was plenty to eat for us. we enjoyed the food and service. theshrimpare milder than the ms/la style we are accustomed to. also the chowder is different from the ne style chowder, but very good. it may have had some cheese added. the place is aptly named.

crap shack. do not patronize this hole.. went with my wife, father, and 5-year-old daughter. food sucked: everything was obviously frozen, nothing fresh.shrimpso mushy they couldn't be peeled. corn was like yellow mud smeared on a used cob. potatoes so salty they were inedible. all-bread frozen deviled crab. all for ridiculously high price....we were stunned and insulted by the check. waitress was surly, and, to top it off, my wife and daughter encountered a drunk guy pissing in the women's restroom. nice.

decided to eat some seafood while at folly beach. hit the crab shack and got their "marsh madness" special - a bucket of shrimp, mussels, and clams served with potatoes and corn. my son got a similar bucket with crab. my wife decided on the coconut shrimp. overall the buckets were pretty good. a bit spendy - especially the crab. the coconutshrimpwas just ok. shrimpwere good, but sides were not very good. buckets were tasty, but the corn was waaaaaay over cooked. the service was a bit slow. although we enjoyed our meals, i would try a different spot next time.

below is what is what happened in august 2016 and this is what happened nov.1, 2016. the food as always-----amazing. fresh, simple and so affordable! the freshest crab, flounder andshrimpmy family has ever had. after my disquieting experience with the bar maid the owner reached out to me personally! he gave me his # and promised to make it it right.....and he did!  he addressed our concerns, spoke to us when we returned to the crab shack and made sure our meal was to die for. the service? amazing and impeccable . katherine was just top notch. there aren't enough people like ron around anymore. a down to earth person who really cares about his customers! viva la crab shack. btw.....the crab balls and fieryshrimpwere top shelf! thank you!

the food is really fresh and really tasty! i was so impressed! we were in town for weekend and grabbed "to go" on the way home. the food was ready when i arrived, but i was taken aback by a very  presumptuous bartender/server. she gave me the total and i paid her in cash. she just assumed i was giving her a 20% tip for handing me the bag and kept the change! she turned her back on me said thank you and walked away! a few people sitting at the bar got a chuckle at my expense

first of all the ambiance here is hard to beat! huge old growth trees create a beautiful canopy over the outdoor tables that overlook the water. it was 93 degrees the day we went and it felt a very comfortable 83 with the breezes off the water, the misting system and numerous fans. my husband, daughter and i shared 3lbs of crab legs, 1/2lb. ofshrimpand i had a bowl of crab stew, everything was delicious and brought out in a very timely manner. the wait staff was also very attentive and friendly. the crab shack is a great laid back place for families or just a very messy date night 😉 be sure to check out the adopted bird room off the gift shop!

today my wife and i had lunch at the crab shack in folly beach.  we both very dissapointed.  i had a cheeseburger that had no taste.  mt wife ordered the crispy friedshrimpwith red rice and cole salw.  this meal cost 15.99.  when it arrived there where only six (6)shrimpand about 1/2 cup of rice.  we both thought this was very poor.  we have have eaten at other crab shacks, one in summeville sc, and one off dorchester rd, and have enjoyed them both.  needless to say we will not be returning to the one on folly.   we've never gone to a restaraunt, spent almost 40.00, and left hungry.

my husband and i ate here after a day at the beach. we came right before dinner, which was perfect! the outdoor patio was breezy as we sipped on frozen drinks and ate peanuts. we got a crab andshrimpbucket (about $42) and the drinks were about $7 each. not too bad...but that is pretty typical for a touristy beach seafood joint. this is a great spot if you're in the area, but nothing to drive out of your way for.

the crab shack was super fun. the service was fantastic and prompt. the staff was really friendly. the setting though is what made it idyllic. the lagoon backdrop and christmas lights on the trees in the back porch style dining area was excellent. my seafood plate i had was pretty good. the crawfish andshrimpwere particularly tasty. the only complaint i could offer was that the seafood could have been a little hotter, but otherwise this a great little beach stop. it's a charming tourist trap. its charm comes from its kitsch, so if you want to be elitist you can skip it, but you shouldn't be an elitist and therefore, you should go. that might be a bit of a logical fallacy, but valid arguments aren't always tasty platters of seasonal shell fish!

great atmosphere great food. weekend trip to fb for a r&r trip. cool and rainy the whole time but the "shack" was the answer. i'm sure it gets packed in the summer but do not miss a chance to dine here. andrew was our server. attentive, quick with suggestions but not pushy. we had the grilledshrimpand crab cakes. cakes were great, not alot of filler, no shells and perfect seasoning. key lime pie is also highly recommended. thanks shack and thanks andrew! we'll be back soon.
