horrible service.. this review is a little late, this experience happened back in apri.. however, thought it was important to note.
i went in with a friend for brunch on a saturday around 11:30am. the restaurant wasn't very busy and we were seated right away. nowaitressshowed up at our table for 20 minutes, despite other tables being sat around us after we sat and getting glasses of water and receiving acknowledgment from the server. we had to stop awaitressto inquire if we could get a waitress. instead of taking our order, or grabbing a drink order, she ran off saying she would find our waitress. 5 minutes later she showed up. took only our drink order and ran away beforf we could say we could give our entire order. took another 10 minutes to get drink of tea, coffee and waters and to take our orders. food arrived quickly, however i asked for an additional item which never showed up. ourwaitressnever bothered to ask how we were doing halfway through our meal so i couldn't even bring it to her attention. unacceptable service from a restaurant that is supposed to be "high end". i'm awaitressmyself, and so i know what good service is, and bauer was exceptionally bad.
would have asked to speak to a manager, however, i didnt have time as i was on my way to work, so i sent them an email letting them know of the terrible service we received. got a reply from the manager, julie, offering me a gift card to make up for the lack of service and to provide my address. replied to her with my contact information and i have yet to receive any acknowledgment of my email or the gift card that was promised to me. if you're going to offer a solution to a serious lack of service i received, you should honestly follow through. never been so disappointed in the service in a restaurant before and i am a foodie who eats out 2-3 times a week. haven't ben back since and will never set foot in the bauer kitchen.

first visit. went today. seated at 12:55 but nowaitresscame to take our order until 1:20. food was slow arriving and when it did nobody ever came by to see if everything was fine.everything about our service was slow. food was good.will i return? probably not based on service.

delicious food, awesome staff. celebrated girlfriend's birthday here in march. ourwaitresswas so nice and brought out a complimentary slice of (really good) cake with a candle lit! it was very sweet. i had the bauer kitchen salad and it was probably the best salad i've ever had!! my girlfriend got the gnocchi which was also really good. also the decor is amazing!!! love it here.

tsk tsk. well, that was disappointing! tbk is/was arguably the best restaurant in town but... what happened? my husband and i have been going here since the first week they opened (we are members of their bite club). we even had our wedding reception in the party room (and it was lovely, really). i think there has been a slow decline; the menu is becoming so-so and unfortunately our very favourite dish is now... kinda gross! we both ordered the short rib gnocchi and were disappointed in the change; what was that horrible horseradish and what did they do with the fresh stuff they used to put on it? and what happened to the grated lemon? was that parsley on it instead? it wasn't very good - i didn't even finish it this time! ourwaitresswas impatient and seemed to be rushing us out despite a very empty restaurant. and finally, our biggest disappointment - the dessert. they used to have the most amazing selection and it now falls flat. we ordered the stacked chocolate cake and it tasted like it came from a box. i cannot believe this is the same place i used to go to - just to get the dessert. can't say that i will be returning to tbk for dinner any time soon!

my favourite charcoal group restaurant. i went here on a friday night, and it wasn't very busy. i got to try two appetizers and an entree. the bread was very fresh and tasty, made in the bakery right next door. the sausage gravy poutine was awesome- the best poutine i've had in town. my entree was the pork chop, which was incredibly juicy and flavorful. the pulled pork mashed potato side was best part, though, and thewaitresstold us that you can just order that as an appetizer if you ask. finally, for dessert, we had a chocolate mousse cake that was a great finish to the meal.

we had quick and polite service. thewaitressdidn't treat us poorly for just ordering water to drink- in fact, she brought us a pitcher and we didn't even have to ask! most restaurants refuse to do this at all.

overall, it had awesome food and the staff were very nice. i'll definitely return sometime.

what happened?. my first few experiences of the bauer kitchen was fabulous so i decided to throw my best friends birthday party there and reserved the large party room. ourwaitress(wish i would have gotten her name) had a horrible attitude and 0 customer service skills. after she brought us our food she never once came back to make sure everyones meals were o.k, half of my dinner guests steaks werent cooked to their liking and we never saw a waiter/waitress for at least 15 minutes after our food arrived. thewaitressthen took it upon herself to bring out the birthday cake sparklers and all without checking with me (the hostess) first if we were ready for it. needless to say the brother, aunt, and father missed out on the birthday girl blowing out her candles and the big ta-da! thewaitressdid not offer anyone coffe or tea to eat with their dessert either which is horrible dining etiquette! even awaitressat swiss chalet knows to offer you a coffe to have with your dessert!. i know this sounds nit pitcky but when everyone is paying approximately paying $40-$60/head for dinner, tipping thewaitressindividually with 15-20% tip and we are required to hit a $500 minimum in the party room we had better be given some descent service at least and our steaks should be cooked perfectly!

hottest spot in town. cool vibe, tasty cocktails, quality food. i try something new everytime and when i fall in love with something by the time i come back its gone! at our rescent dinner there we finished our meal with the dessert trio because it was such a steal (7.95). unfortunately they made a mistake when printing the menu but thewaitresswas nice enough to make the adjustment for us on our bill.

not perfect but pretty darn good. the service was average and seemed a bit rushed despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't busy. thewaitressdid everything she was supposed to, though.

the atmosphere was lovely, i went on a date and it was a good setting for it.

we split the chipotle pork belly pizza and a roast chicken dish.

the pork belly pizza was delicious in flavor (8/10) but the bottom was a bit soggy... eek.

the chicken was very basic, nothing inventive, but it was done well. a classic, plain dish.

i like that you can order 3 oz glasses of wine here - sometimes all i want is a taste so the amount was perfect for me!
