the bauer kitchen

i went with friends and was trying to be budget conscious, which wasn't easy. not saying the food wouldn't be worth the higher prices, but it was harder to enjoy knowing i was looking at the bottom half of the price menu. ambience and service was good. i'd recommend thisplaceto people who enjoy a classier pub environment and extra pocket money. went with the bauer burger, was good, though the sweet potato fries stole the show.

the plating was nice but the food was just ok. the salmon was cooked well but the pasta wasn’t extraordinary. one of the nicestplacearound and theplaceis cozy, good for dinner and hangouts.

extremely dissapointed. if you simply care for atmosphere and aren't interested in the food, then this is your place.
dined here last saturday night with a friend that was visiting from bc.
i ordered the shortrib gnocchi and sent it back. it wasn't edible. aweful taste, no flavour and had a big glob of horseradish on it. it was terrible.
then ordered the smoked chicken penne. the chicken was processed. rubbery water injected cheap chicken. something you would expect from an east side mario's or mcdonald's. it was disgusting. i are the penne and didn't touch the chicken.
i've given thisplacea few try's because i do like the atmosphere. it's too bad they can't pay closer attention to their food. won't be returning again.

i can't say anything bad about this place. i'm going to be honest. thisplaceis the tits! amazing food, amazing staff which are very accomodating and the atmosphere is fantastic. good job charcoal group!

have thisplacethe benefit of the doubt,twice.placeis nice,service is good but food way overrated. french onion soup was cold, tasteless steak was hidden under over salted sauce. had better food at aplacelike the keg for a lot less. will take aplacelike milestones or baton rouge anyway. don't believe the hype!

greatplaceto have a peaceful meal, great food is just a bonus.. went there on a monday by myself around 6:30pm. theplacewas one third full. the dinning room was tastefully decor with the original old factory left over parts. the building was an old factory before converting to an office building, shopping area. the tables and chairs are very comfortable. how comfortable, clean and interesting theplaceis almost as important as the food to me. service was great too.

had their daily soup, it was steaming hot when it was put in front of me. a very nice touch. the bread were warm. duck confit next, veggie and potato were just right. the duck was excellent. as good as the first two courses, the dessert was the one i remember the most.

it was the chocolate nemesis. chocolate after chocolate and more chocolate. it comes with a small cup of spicy chocolate sauce. it was just spicy enough to tickle the throat but not enough to burn. be aware i am a person who can eat half a dozen of suicide chicken wings and not break a sweat. use that as a guideline.

all three courses came out fast enough but not too fast. i have managed to read a few pages of my book in between courses and enjoyed myself within the hour and a little bit while i was there. aplacei will certainly go back.

after three months of dinner every once a week at tbk, i like it even more.

good ambience; lacklustre food. i've eaten at the bauer kitchen a few times for work functions and have been disappointed every time. dishes that sound great on the menu come out bland and unimaginative on the plate. the last time i was there i had a pork & gnocchi dish and it was almost flavourless. how you make pork that bland i'm not sure. theplacehas a nice warm atmosphere but that's where it ends. i'd never go there if i was picking up the cheque.

tsk tsk. well, that was disappointing! tbk is/was arguably the best restaurant in town but... what happened? my husband and i have been going here since the first week they opened (we are members of their bite club). we even had our wedding reception in the party room (and it was lovely, really). i think there has been a slow decline; the menu is becoming so-so and unfortunately our very favourite dish is now... kinda gross! we both ordered the short rib gnocchi and were disappointed in the change; what was that horrible horseradish and what did they do with the fresh stuff they used to put on it? and what happened to the grated lemon? was that parsley on it instead? it wasn't very good - i didn't even finish it this time! our waitress was impatient and seemed to be rushing us out despite a very empty restaurant. and finally, our biggest disappointment - the dessert. they used to have the most amazing selection and it now falls flat. we ordered the stacked chocolate cake and it tasted like it came from a box. i cannot believe this is the sameplacei used to go to - just to get the dessert. can't say that i will be returning to tbk for dinner any time soon!
